AJ is a LOT Like Alan

You might not like it, but it's true!! So many people are dogging on AJ...but I have to stick up for him a bit.

Yes, AJ totally messed up and drove Jason into a tree while drunk. He was young-- I believe even Laura Bush was forgiven for having someone DIE on her watch. Any whoo,  The "Golden Boy Dream" was smashed to hell and AJ was left to be written into a horrible corner by none other than my "fave" soap character killer,  Mr. Guza. AJ could NEVER win--and it got worse as the year's went by. I remember he and Courtney. AJ   nothing wrong but BE AJ! Don't get me started on the Michael sheeze.  They acted like AJ was an ax murderer and Jason was some baby-whisperer.

On to Alan and AJ. Alan also was a hot-head that often tried to kill people (Rick Webber and Monica anyone?). He did shady deals to get ahead, cheated AND was a drug addict.  He yelled a lot, and was pretty dang whiny about Tracy.  Monica can also yell, lie, cheat steal and act a victim (ask Leslie Webber) so, AJ didn't fall far from the tree.

(BTW, Morgan/Michael are the "NuAJ/Jason"--down to the "You love your adoptive son more than me" scenario.)

So, you can hate AJ all you want, I for one hope he gets some redemption this time around. I'm so sick of Sonny doggin' on him.

  1. Oh, Karen, I have always had a bit of sympathy for AJ because he was so ill-treated always. I especially felt for him while Billy played him--Billy gave him some extra vulnerability--though Sean is doing well with him. A couple of your topics ago when Tracy was spouting off to Liz about AJ and Liz went all defensive/combative about him, I posted this as a reminder of how Alan once treated the kid AJ:

Tracy's rant against AJ was pretty typical of the stuff Alan used to throw at AJ, when the 2 boys, AJ and Jason, were growing up, only then AJ had to also hear how great his brother was, and how he was not. I used to wince because how could any kid have self esteem and do well if he heard that every time he made a mistake. As a teen he had his faults hammered into him. AJ turned to drink which of course, made it worse.

I liked Alan, but he was certainly not always Mr nice guy and the way he yelled at AJ was so sad. Monica wasn't all that kind to the teen either, as I recall. Jason, the future doctor, got all the pats on the back.

And of course, this doesn't even get into how Sonny stole Michael and forced AJ to sign away his son by hanging him on a meat hook and pouring liquour down his throat. Sonny is low scum and always has been, and him getting all self-righteous about AJ is laughable.

  2. Thank you for posting this comment. What AJ did to Connie is unacceptable, I'm not trying to excuse every mistakes AJ has done when I defend him but I'm tired of people saying AJ is big baby who needs to grow up. When you are treated like crap your entire existence, you just don't think and behave the same way as a normal person. I hope AJ will get some redemption and personal growth. He was great to Liz when they prayed together at the hospital. I have hope.

  3. I for one am so ready for Sonny to get what he deserves.
Sonny is a hypocrite it makes me sick.
I would love to see everyone, especially Michael, turn their back on Sonny and call him out on who he "really" is.
I agree, I'm ready to see AJ get some redemption.

  4. I would like to see them tone down Tracy's tirades against A.J. I'm getting tired of them.

  5. And don't forget all Tracy's under-handed and shady dealings, including stepping right over her father when he was having a heart attack instead of giving him his nitro. I do hope that AJ doesn't fall off the wagon this time and keeps remembering he wants to be someone Michael can respect. I'd love to Sonny finally get what he deserves, too. So tired of Saint Sonny.

  6. Karen, this time I think that Sonny didn't attack AJ, but rather AJ screamed at Sonny, assuming he was behind the newspaper article.

Also, I had suggested making the birth certificate the prop of the week, but I also had thought that the newspaper would be an excellent choice.

  7. I live AJ and always have. I started with Billy though. I was skeptical of Sean bc at first i could only see B&B deacon but more I like him a lot. Given my frustration with Patrick AJ is actualactually my favorite male character. Well maybe second I love Spin

  8. I love Sean as AJ. I hope that the writers do not put him in a corner again. I want him front and center. And like the other Carrie said.. He is my favorite male character right now

  9. AJ is complicated, as Karen pointed out. I have enjoyed Billy and Sean's take on the character...I hope he gets some good breaks this time around and sticks it to Carly

Sam's NOT HAPPY today! She's the latest to visit Jason in his own personal reception room at the PCPD. She asks him if he shot Dan...
