I THOUGHT THIS WAS A HOAX...you know how much I want the Vampires..look at this:
On Monday, Jan. 14, Lucy will drop by Kelly's Diner for some chow and spot John McBain, the good-guy cop played by Easton. "She completely freaks and screams, "Caleb!" says head writer Ron Carlivati. "Later Kelly's character, Sam, comes out of the ladies room and Lucy think it's Livvie." Lucy goes into full slayer mode and stabs John. He's rushed to the hospital. She ends up in the slammer
"Our universes are colliding but this is no quick gimmick," Carlivati promises. "This will kick off a nice little mystery story: Is Lucy crazy or is there something very real going on here? And, if she's crazy, why do John and Sam feel like they've met before?"
The plot gets even dizzier when Duke Lavery, played by Ian Buchanan who also played vampire king Joshua Temple on PC, pays a visit to Lucy at the jailhouse. "That really throws her for a loop — in fact, the whole thing's a total mindf--k!" says Carlivati. "We'll also throw Sam's mother Alexis [Nancy Lee Grahn] into the mix as Lucy's attorney."
How far will Carlivati take this thing? "The story does get pretty over-the-top yet it's still rooted in a certain reality," says the scribe. "Lucy may be off-kilter but she's certainly not in Heather Webber territory. Her belief in vampires will be very convincing." Especially for the PC viewers who saw it all happen!
"That show was so ahead of its time and this is a nice nod to the fans who supported all those wild chances we took," Herring says. "I love that we're still taking chances and not sidestepping the past. If Lucy met up with John and didn't recognize him, we'd be flooded with complaints!

This sounds kind of insane? Too much "meta" for my tastes, but anything that puts more Lucy Coe on the screen is worth a shot. We'll see!

ReplyDeleteI know Lucy was a vampire slayer before but fortunately those of us who only watch GH did not have to witness this character destruction. PLEASE keep it off our screens.
Coming next, Casey the Alien returns when it is revealed Sabrina is his and Anna's love child. In true Alien fashion Casey was the one impregnanted so Anna never knew.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop turning GH into a cartoon.
Ugh!! I have watched GH for 21 years. I NEVER watched Port Charles and have never gotten into the vampire fad. I am praying they do not ruin my favorite soap by bringing it on the screen. I was just now falling in love with it all over again after the integration of the OLTL characters.
ReplyDeleteI've never watched Port Charles either, just GH and I've never been a fan of the vampire genre. They definitely aren't enticing me with this storyline. This isn't how I wanted Lucy to return either.

This sounds really easy to mess up and definitely over the top for GH (as long as we all forget Casey The Alien!) but it has potential to be a lot of fun and I LOVE that Duke will be involved. I watched some clips of Caleb and Livvie when John came over and in spite of my fondness for such things it really didn't work for me. It just felt too campy. I dread trying to explain wtf is going on to my mom, who is going to be so clueless, but I do hope they can find a way to make it fun for PC lovers and GH die hards alike - which is going to be a monumentally difficult task, I fear.

ReplyDeleteThey should also bring Livvie's dad back (Kevin?) as Sam's father, so we'd finally find out who he is. I bet he and Alexis would be great together!

So excited for this! I was a huge PC fan, so I've been hoping we'd get more vamps on GH. Now if only they'd bring Rafe, the good angel, back. A girl can dream!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, not sure I am liking this. I never watched PC and I just can't imagine incorporating this into GH without ruining these characters, it just sounds too hokey for GH (Casey the Alien withstanding) but I will hope Frank and Ron can pull this off.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I just read that Jack Wagner may be coming back at least for a short time for the 50th episode too. I wish it were longer, but beggars can't be choosers so I will take it!

ReplyDeleteIt's silly, as PC has never been canon. The wink-nodness of Slayer perfume and Luke's Lestat comments show it's not real.
ReplyDeleteThe only way this works is if it's made clear the PC stuff was all in Lucy's head, ala an extended Bobby Ewing shower.
PC was a bad soap, poorly written and acted, and a pale copy of the worst of Dark Shadows- a soap DECADES ahead of its time.
Okay, so this is a joke right? And on January 14 when it doesn't happen, they'll jump from behind a screen, laughing and telling us we should see the looks on our faces right? Right?

We'll see how it goes, it could be fun if played right I suppose.
I love it!!! BUT I hope it is a quick storyline and they put it to rest, soon to be forgotten.

Karen, I'd love to see a poll for this one since there are such mixed reviews. I think it's great! I watched PC off and on and love McBam's chemistry, so I'm excited to have a little history show up. (And I agree with JPink-- please bring Rafe back!!! In any form!!!!)
ReplyDeleteI watched PC and really enjoyed the show! Yes, it was before its time. Look now at all the supernatural successes on TV and on the big screen. Livvie and Caleb were crazy hot. Loved Allison and Rafe. But, I have a feeling it GH won't turn into PC. Some fans are panicking but, Ron and Frank are creative and I'd reserve judgement until we see how this plays out ;)
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I LOVED the vampire storyline on PC and the fact that they're giving a nod to it on GH now that so many of the people involved in that storyline are on GH. This should be interesting.

ReplyDeleteI have to laugh at "friscogh's" Casey the Alien reference, because I also remember that awful storyline. GH has had many implausible plots, but I think there was a reason that Port Charles was cancelled back in the day...it wasn't very good.
I love Kelly Monaco and I like McBain, but I'd rather they just hint at a past life rather then actually make it so.
Vampires in general are very played out in my opinion. Although I like Carltini's new direction with the show, I fear they're putting too much out there at once. Case in point, the the recent missing Anna stuff? It was going along so good then they just dropped it for 3 weeks.
I'm very happy to see so many Vets returning, but I just hope they have good storylines to accompany them!!!
I don't mind that they are paying homage to their sisters soap storyline. Wasn't Port Charles GHs sister soap. And Lucy and Kevin were on GH first.
