That's right..new just keeps getting better for GH fans... heh, another actress is off canvas!! Annie has been cast in the new ABC remake of "Charlies Angels". There was a rumor floating around that Maya would develop a terminal illness --maybe this will be the push for it to come true. Or Recast? Who knows. Which angel will she be?? !! Kelly, Jill?? What!!
Yeah for Annie! She has beauty and amazing talent I hope she can do both!

ReplyDeleteUgh. Let's just keep deleting women who haven't slept with Sonny. I'm not a fan of Maya, but I think it's because she hasn't been given a real story. I just get more and more angry with this show. I think no more GH for me.
ReplyDeleteI never have seen an outpouring of disgust like this time, with the impending loss of our Liz. If they're trying to kill the show, they've done a good job.
ReplyDeleteSome thoughts on Liz: I always thought it was great that, whenever she got PG, she worked as much as she could, and the show worked with her. I think she only had 3 WTD stories because that's how soaps treat almost all pregnancies, to make them dramatic, I don't think that they meant to make her a slut. I also thought that she was on the back burner after she came back from her last leave to give her time with her new baby (and the other 2 young children). I never dreamed they would let her go.
I think they treat all women badly, and trash their characters, not just Liz. Alexis was the only character that I could identify with--a slightly neurotic career women who is very attractive, but not so gorgeous that it makes you pass out. Her relationship with Ned, with her issues of commitphobia, were very much in character. Then, she ends up sleeping with psychopath Jerry Jacks (among other bad choices), and has 3 kids, which she never wanted, not with her commitmentphobia. Lisa and Helena are outright evil, but look at all the other women, and how morally compromised they are, what they've done over the years. Tracy, Monica, Bobbie, Carly, Maxie, etc., etc., etc. And the entire show revolves around harpy Carly, whose endless plots, lies and manipulations speak to a borderline personality disorder, or worse.
Good women go bad, bad women go good, there is no consistency of character.
Inconsistency is the byword for GH. Characters, other than Sonny and his 2 enablers (Carly and Jason), vacillate without thought or planning. Story arcs last only as long as Guza doesn't get a wild hair in which case forget plot and character. If a "star" from the real world decides he wants to do a couple of weeks on the show, or heaven forbid, direct some episodes, so much the better. Meanwhile, actors are let go after more than a decade of character development, and for what? Because a will-of-the-wisp storyline dictates it? Inconsistent, you bet. That's GH. Who care about story history and character development? Viewers do! Guza and associates do not!
ReplyDeleteI am very happy for Annie. She deserves the chance to make a name for herself with the new role. I don't know that I will watch a remake of Charlie's Angels, but I do wish her well. She certainly deserves better writing than she has been afforded on General Hospital.

ReplyDeleteI wish Annie the best of luck she is going to go a long way! She is beautiful, classy can do drama and act! If the show isn't picked up she will lands several other pilots some folks have it some don't! I love Maya, Mayan her interaction with Luke, Tracey, Edward, Johhny , Ethan especially. They only watch for Maya and if she isn't on that's it for me. ABC Daytime, and GH doesn't seem invested in writing for anyone on a daily basic unless they are white let's get real here! Where are the orientials and hispanic characters! They can take the soaps and shove them I had enough of guns, rapes and murders being frontburner I wish beautiful RH well she's a talented actress but the only females characters are whores, strippers, rapists and baby stealers! Good luck Annie and Becky you both can do better than GH!
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled for Annie! But I hope this doesnt affect Mayan right away, we still have no idea when the pilot will even begin filming since the other Angels havent been cast. And theyre both in the ABC studios, so double duty could be possible for a while.

Dear Anon: Re your statement about only White characters getting front burner, HELLO, Sonny, the all-time star of GH, and the biggest soap star of all time (well, in my opinion), is Hispanic. Also, Brenda, the other biggest star, is also half Hispanic (at least the actress is, they don't specify about the character).
ReplyDeleteOther than those 2, though, not many great long-term stories for those who are not White, I agree. They try on GH with the Ward family, Mary Mae Ward was one of the most fantastic characters ever, and had lots of story, unfortunately the actress passed away, it was a HUGE loss.
She's pretty, but that's all I can say for her. She can't act on a soap, that's for sure. Maybe a prime time show would be better for her. At least she could do more takes and try different things and maybe she'll have some kind of chem with her co-stars there, because she doesn't appear to on GH. I don't see how she can do both shows when she can't handle a soap. Some actors are better in different mediums.

Jealous must many soap actors been on soaps for years Laura Wright, Steve Burton, Kelly Monaco and never get a big break look at beautiful, Annie whose getting alot more press outside of daytime than airhogs, Lulu, Dante, Sonny, Sam, and if she didn't know about takes how would she get gigs outside of the precious, amazing crap that is daytime! Racist and sextist I might add!

ReplyDeleteAnnie has been chosen by top producers and among them actress Drew Barrymore. one of the writers if i am not mistaking Goldberg wrote the original charlie's angels series. So does that sound like a mediocre actress. she has a lead role if you google it she was trending #4 on yahoo yesterday. and it's been confirmed that the pilot was highly sought after by experienced actors.
ReplyDeleteActually Leonard Goldberg is a producer on this new show with Drew Barrymore. He was the original Charlie's Angels producer and produced Fantasy Island. She has definitely surpassed a lot of her soap costars by getting a lead role in such a gig. Did i mention she played a small part in he's just not that into you with Drew, and played a small part in successful series such as entourage, stop hating

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for Annie! Hopefully this works out for her. I love Maya and the potential of Maya and Ethan. They are by far my favorite storyline and characters. But I'm glad Annie is moving on. GH is a sinking ship!

Bravo! Annie is why I started watching again! But she's rarely if barely shown so I rarely if barely watch!
