Rumor Patrol: Steve Burton to Y&R
It was predicted the moment he announced his leaving GH--especially given the fact his BFF Jill Farren Phelps has gone to The Young and The Restless. Seems the rumor is now rampant on twitter and several soap sites, and in an article in
TV GUIDE:
While the news, still unconfirmed by CBS, is certainly fantastic it's not exactly out of left field: Burton and Phelps are longtime friends and business associates (they're currently working together on a telenovela project) so it wasn't hard to imagine Burton someday popping up in Genoa City. C'mon, we all expected it! But so soon?
Oh yes, we did expect it. Will Scott Reeves be next? Hmmmm.

Up and down week for me when it came to enjoyment. It seemed like things were shuffled up wrong in the editing room and it made me scratch...
I thought he was loyal to GH? Apparently his response when he left was total BS! NOT HAPPY!
ReplyDeleteI did not believe his comments when he left GH that it was because he wanted to spend more time with his family. It's like the college football coaches who say the same thing when they leave a school -- only to show up an another one not long after. SB left GH because he wasn't getting his ass sufficiently kissed by the new regime. IMO, that had gone on longer than it should have.
ReplyDeleteI lost all respect for Burton after seeing his Twitter. I'm not surprised or sorry he's gone. I won't be mad if they recast Jason
ReplyDeleteNot surprised. He can go and help JFP ruin Y&R now.
ReplyDeleteTammy...I totally fear that JFP will ruin Y and R.
ReplyDeleteTraitor! Lol
ReplyDeleteNo loss. Jason became one-dimensional. I was happy to see his black t-shirts disappear. And yes, he will ruin Y & R, along with Phelps.
ReplyDeleteLast summer many blogs predicted this. It's likely because Cartini refused to let him and MB dominate 80% of the show any longer and his ego could not take it.
ReplyDeleteNext they need to crack down on Tony Geary's 8 mos. of vacation a year.
They have recast the role of Jason before, they can do it again and it will be fine. Give another actor an opportunity to make the role have more depth. I say thIs is great news, no more wondering if he will return. To pot with him, bring on a new Jason who can do more than stare.......

You are SO right, Cosmoetica!
There have been 3 adult AJs, 2 adult Emilys, 2 adult Neds, I think a 2nd adult Jason is overdue.

ReplyDeleteWell I was gonna try to watch now that they rehired Abby (who will probably then be promptly put on recurring and we'll never see her again). But not now, I'm not really into watching the blank stare in anything again really. I am not quite sure though if Y&R will be able to take all the ego between Eric Braeden, Michael Muhney and now Steve Burton. Maybe they'll make the tabloids again? ;)
ReplyDeleteWe've been Lebroned.
ReplyDeleteLebroned: To say one thing to the fans when you really have a whole other plan.
Good riddance! I was a fan of Steve Burton/Jason. But, JFP, Brian Frons and Bob Guza almost destroyed GH. These last couple of years it's been about saving GH, if they had stayed in power, there would be no GH to save, no Jason Quartermaine. Turns out Maurice Bernard and Laura Wright are more adaptable, at least it appears that way. Michael Easton is on and has great chemistry with Kelly Monaco. Sean Kanan is on and can actually act and who knows AJ may have a future with Liz....Karma...they destroy Y&R, GH runs strong and Burton crawls back just as his other ventures have failed in the past and he had GH to fall back on. I hope they never take him back.
ReplyDeleteNow, they need to bring on Genie Francis to reunite Luke and Laura and escort Tony Geary into retirement. Time for The Scorpios to take centre stage and give The Spencers a break. That will take care of Tony Geary's 8 month vacations.
