TRIBUTE BLOG: For Sean Donnelly

This might be a small memory but for me, it's what I think of when I think back to the Sean years. Who remembers the secret room in the penthouse? For some reason I can always see he and Robert huddled in there, getting ready to do something exciting.

The last time we saw Sean, he was still as cranky as ever and blaming Luke for his paralysis. His daughter Annie was also there and we will see her (played by his real daughter, Caitlin) again during the tribute. Sean  also had a boy named Connor. Many are speculating that might turn out to be who Roger will be playing? Hmmm...

What made Sean So... Sean? TIFFANY of course!! She was the best thing that could have happened to him.

DAVE'S MEMORIES:

I do remember Sean and Robert. They were the 2 musketeers. Three if you counted Luke, but I never really felt that Sean liked Luke. Those were the days. Location shoots and adventure. Things we never see on the show anymore and probably never will again. Looking back on Sean, I think he was always trying to scam someone. Didn't he  go for the Aztec Treasure? From Felicia of all people. But still, Sean was forever linked with these people. And brilliantly so.

Another linkage with Sean that doesn't get acknowledged very often is his affair with Monica. I thought he was perfect for her while she was in and out of a relationship with Alan. Monica had some good choices in men. Well, except for Dorman and Ned. Ned was ok if you overlook the whole nephew thing. But I digress. Sean and Monica were a good couple. I know they were not destined to last forever, but they were in the right place for each other at the right time. And it worked.

Finally, I know Karen mentioned it, but the wedding was probably the funniest scene GH ever had. And probably in the top 3 overall. Truly one of the most memorable. How Sharon got through it with a straight face, I will never know.

Of course, a giant thank you to John Reilly who was magnificent as Sean. I can't wait to see his real life daughter, Caitlin play his fictional daughter, Caitlin!

  1. I will be watching today's episode live, and can't wait. I loved Sean and he and Tiffany were perfect together. And their wedding.....you're right, funniest GH scene ever. I still laugh out loud whenever I watch it! :)

    2. I think that wedding rates as one of the funniest scenes in soaps ever.

  2. Else Mae Krumholz rocks it!!!! If you haven't watched their wedding, it is a must see GH clip. The funniest EVER on GH IMO. Really it was the 4 musketeers, Sean, Robert, Anna and Frisco (Felicia in there too) that I think they worked together so well as a team and it was so much enjoyment back in those days. There wasn't much I didn't like back then I don't think.

    1. PS. I loved Tiffany. She was so elegant and so prissy movie star type, but it worked so well. She and Sean just fit together so well.

    2. And remember Tiff joined the crew before Sean and Anna did. She helped Robert, Luke and Laura during the Ice Princess caper. I always thought the 80s with the WSB crew, the Brownstone, and Mr. Big were great.

  3. Sean's daughter is Annie, named for Anna of course. Not Caitlyn. But I'm going to enjoy celebrating the man and the character.

    Maxie's home:

Maxie and Hiney: No no no why are we having to see Hiney during Sean's tribute!??!!? That should have been on Monday!

Maxie and Bobbie: Glad Bobbie is going to help Maxie!!! :)

Ireland: Okay now don't get me wrong, it was a good show today, but it should have been on Monday! I really rather have seen everyone talking about Sean and showing a full hour of flashbacks. Yes yes I know. I'm greedy I can admit it! :) It was good seeing everyone!!!! :) The flashbacks we did get to see was great! :) I got emotional in the beginning of the show, and when Robert said may God hold you in the palm of his hand and then the bagpipes played, I cried.

Anna and Felicia: Felicia had every right to be furious! Great scene!! I thought Felicia was really going to slap Anna when she walked away! Glad Felicia forgave Anna awwwww. :)

Anna and Robin: Robin is so wise!!!! Yes Robin you are right. Anna should talk to Felicia again to give her side!

Annie: The actress is really good! :) Can we keep her? The whole mystery was a test! She joined the WSB! YAY! :) Annie talking to her mother on the phone awwwwwwwwww. :)

Laura and Tiffany: Great phone conversation. At first I wasn't sure if that was really Sharon Wyatt. Didn't sound like her, although it did sound like her in some spots. Glad it really was her! YAY! :)

Flashback Friday: *Jumps into my time machine to go see Robert, Anna, Sean, and O'Reilly!* So in honor of Sean and O'Reilly,

  7. It was such a wonderful episode. GH sent Sean and John off in style. You could tell that all of the actors were saying goodbye to John in that last scene. And I agree with everyone else - can we keep Annie? I would like to see how she interacts with Chase, he is going to need a shoulder to cry on once he finds out about Willow and Michael.

  8. It was good but shame on them for not showing one picture of Frisco, let alone having him there.

  11. It was a wonderful show. Not many of us get the chance to blend a work experience of acting and a true life experience of a memorial tribute to a co-worker. The added bonus was the co-worker's actual daughter. Having the vets gather around to do this episode also showcased the easy familiarity they displayed when working together again. Even though the characters are fictitious, I was delightfully entertained by the onscreen hugs between Robin and Anna, Anna and Felicia and Bobbie and Maxie.
The fact that Sharon Wyatt was able to join with her audio clip was heartwarming.
I watch and have watched for an hour of escapism for my entire life. This hour truly delivered.

  13. Another really good tribute show. John Reilly's daughter did a fabulous job. I was waiting for a surprise guest that never appeared. But it was still entertaining.
So if these tribute episodes are so good why are the daily shows such a fail lately?

    2. Okay. I guess because she was his wife I didn't consider her a surprise but glad she was included.

    3. Yes. I think Sharon Wyatts voice was the surprise guest

  14. Friday’s show was a pleasant change of pace. We actually got Laura, Robert, Anna, Mac, Felicia, Bobbie and Tiffaney in one episode. That felt great!
