  1. MIlo's home: Laura noticed the kiss with Luke was different. Yeah Luke didn't kiss Laura the way he used to. They don't fit anymore?! WHAT!?!?!?!! HOGWASH!

Lucy and Scotty: LOVE THEM! :) Aww Doc can't make it. Scotty taking Lucy out to dinner awwww! :)

Laura and Scotty: Well since Laura THINKS it's over between her and Luke time to get married to Scotty! :)

Rafe and Sam: Oh sweet sweet Rafe thinks he is in love with Molly! Rafe sweetie, it's just a crush. :)

Molly and TJ: That's a stupid way to ask her to the prom! Why couldn't you ask her yourself? It would take me forever to figure out what the person was trying to say if I was doing it! :) Molly tells him about Rafe kissing her, Oh oh TJ control your emotions dude!!!

TJ and Rafe: TJ!!!!!! Why did you have to hit him?! Now when Molly hears about it, she isn't going to be very happy with you TJ!

Ellie and Maxie's home: YAY! Ellie tells Spinny about Spinny Jr! :) Yes Spinny you are going to be a daddy! :) Spinny kisses Maxie?!! HUH?! I was thinking this has to be a daydream. Then Lulu and Dante show up and Lulu is all upset and has a gun?!! This MUST be a daydream! YUP IT IS!!! Oh great! Now Ellie won't tell Spinny the truth! Well you know what's going to happen Ellie! Spinny won't be happy with you when he finds out that you knew the truth and didn't tell him!

  2. Luke and Laura, over--say it isn't so!!!! So sad, they are older, and now they are over too.

You know, all of these middle-aged vets returning (which is wonderful), but having them all be single and reuniting with old flames, dating, etc., is kinda unrealistic. NONE of them are married (except for Lucy Coe), and they are all acting like old teenagers.

  3. lol AntJoan, I know a lot of middle aged people who are no longer married and are strutting their stuff acting like old teenagers too. In fact I got a flash of a few I know when I read your post, and I had a good laugh.

It's too bad they couldn't still have at least one long term couple on the show that stayed happy and married. There are some out here in real life.

  4. I think it is the right move with LL.
after so much time apart, people do change.
Life moves on and we with it.
I agree with the S/L reflecting that they aren't the same people they were in the 1970s.
Of course there will always be a special bond that is unique only to them. Of course they will always live each other. Of course, there will always be that spark.
But to try to recapture a love from so long ago with so much other stuff that has happened is impossible.
They are different people now. I may be in the minority but I agree with the SL going in this direction.

  5. Was a well written, mature, and realistic scene. Hope the writers stick w this. TG has always loathed the L&L 'love fantasy' and hopefully put his foot down.

  6. I HATE it!!! I almost feel I don't want to watch GH anymore.

If love is so hopeless, if we change too much as we age to maintain it, if we can never hang on to what we had, if after a bit of time apart, we don't 'fit' anymore...how do ANY couples end up with staying together to the end? How does anyone in the world have 50, 60 year long marriages? (And there are such things.)

Of all the couples who WOULD be together til the end of life, it would be Luke and Laura, because they had a very special equal partnership, a bonding that was so deep and an understanding of love that was unique.

Marry Scotty?? Geez, who could live with that unpleasant gripper, underhanded maneuverer, chauvinistic manipulator? Laura couldn't years ago, so why could she now? How come THEY haven't changed so much they don't fit?

In fact, they never did. They were children when they first married and he is the same churlish controller he was then. He says he loves Laura, but isn't some of it just wanting to beat Luke? He's never gotten over the bitterness of that poor boy from Elm St stealing his wife. I don't believe Scott most of the time. Like Kin Shriner, but never Scotty.

  7. HATE IT! HATE IT! HATE IT!

    Luke and Laura belong together.

Scotty is a child and pants after Laura. She is the shiny toy that is always out of this reach.

  9. The L&L interaction was so sad but so beautifully written and acted. We may not want to accept it but it makes sense. Kudos to Tony and Genie. Very disturbing though, Spinelli and Luke were each at Lauren F's address seemingly one minute after their previous location (Milo's and Maxie's homes). And surely she is not in Port Charles.

Well it seems Luke was at the wrong place, and Spinny was at the right one. :)

In the 90s, when he returned to GH, Geary said how he would only return as a diff character, because he hated Luke and the whole rape thing. You can Google the interview.

You do know that Luke raped Laura? that was the only unique thing in their relationship- that this girl left a man she loved for her rapist.

Ohhhh. Well, I don't blame him for hating that. I hate that.

  15. I guess it's time but it still felt sad :(

  16. Yes we all now that Cosmo hates Luke Spenser and constantly refers back to a one page interview that TG gave in 1991 as justification that Tony agrees with him.

That interview is mostly about his reaction to obsessed fans and the fact that GH changed him from bad boy into the savior of the earth. He didn't like being betrayed as being a "heartthrob" or being idolized.

BUT Cosmo conveniently ignores anything else said by TG. like this quote from 1993 from TG.. ( in the same Mag as the first quote)
TG says he would "never have brought back Luke without Laura, because she defines him. His feelings, his life, are all about her. I had so closed the door on Luke that there was a point when I couldn't even remember who he was. But when I sat down with Genie again, and looked at her and touched her and smelled her, it all came back. I can't do it without her."

So although TG did have some issues with Luke and how he was written in the 80's - And especially everything else that went along his HUGE popularity. I do not think that TG hated Luke or the relationship between Luke and Laura. I think that is all YOU.

Fans love Luke and Laura now and forever.

  18. Cosmo:

Yes, I was there watching when Luke supposedly raped Laura in the disco. I say supposedly because when that was written TPTB were going to have Luke killed after keeping that appointment to shoot Mitch Williams. Once that changed, they had to peddle fast to make it come out as less than rape.

If you saw the scene, you saw Luke sitting in his shabby little apartment afterward, hugging a pillow and sobbing, devastated at what he had done. Bobbie calls and he can barely talk. Luke was still slated to die and Tony leave the show, but then Asher Brauner got another job and was leaving so they wanted to keep Tony featured, who was starting to get bags and bags of fan mail. Tony didn't realize the kind of mail he was getting at the time because he doesn't usually read fan mail. (I did an interview with him long ago in which he told me the unsoap-like circumstances of him being turned into a leading man., something he never expected.)

Anyway, they killed off the Brauner character as he took Luke's place for the mob hit, and Luke stayed. Now they had to work on the rape thing to sort of clean it up, and it became 'aquaintance rape' and for six months Laura and Luke kept showing up at the same places and having these interestingly tense little scenes. She was supposed to be going with Scotty to group therapy, but she wouldn't speak up and usually ran out, and right back to the disco to talk to Luke. The relationship was SO alive because of these two actors and their astonishing chemistry, that they had the whole country hooked and rooting for them to get together. If Monty hadn't put them together then I think there would have been picketing outside the studio!

Their love was totally convincing. It should be still.

Andrea, that's prob the weakest refutation of a point ever. It basically says, yeah, I was right about TG, but, he also had a soft spot for the actress. Nothing quoted contradicts what the rest of the interview says.

In short, it is apparently all about YOU.

Soaplover' there's no ifs, ands or buts about it. The rest of your post is interesting as backstage gossip, but is irrelevant to the onscreen GH universe.

It was 100% rape. He forced her, and everything that came after that was forced, unatural, and frankly disgusting. Geary had the sense to recognize this.

Worse than even its in show believability problems (she loved Scotty and actually Laura and Scotty saved GH from cancellation in 78, not L&L. L&L built upon the S&L pop) is that it set a soap precedent that the best and quickest way to reform a bad girl was to rape her.

Natalie and Gloria on AMC, Marty on OLTL, via Todd, and Karen Wexler on GH, by Sonny, as well as Liz Webber and others I can't name right now. It caused a 15 year tidal wave of pop cultural sickness that said women actually became better people after rape.

So, you and the others are certainly free to like L&L, and think their relationship is some ideal, but it's a fantasy, and a deeply psychologically and misogynistically perverse one.

Luke is the worst thing to ever happen to Laura, for herself- the rape, and all the baggage- Cassadines, Mobsters, violence, alcoholism, etc. that came w him.

  21. So, cosmoetica, if GH has been forever ruined and everything since 1981 has been garbage, why do you still watch it?

    ReplyDelete
  22. There is no doubt about it that Luke raped Laura at the disco. Genie Francis played it out (rape victim) spectacularly for a couple of months after it happened. When Elizabeth was taped it reminded me exactly the way Genie played it at the time.

But the chemistry between Genie and Tony was so off the charts that TPTB could not ignore it. And neither did the audience. They wanted LUKE & LAURA TOGETHER! So, Gloria Monty grabbed the opportunity to turn them into the super-couple they came to be. She had the writers "downplay" it as a "date-rape" at first, and then eventually never mentioned it again.

It wasn't until Liz's rape resurrected it that it was ever mentioned again. I loved that storyline. But, both actors have always been uncomfortable about the actual rape part of their storyline.

  23. BTW, TG HAS said he hated the Luke character in family mode. He wanted to 'move on' and I think that because GF wasn't around all those years, he DID move on. When she came back the old spark was there but it has changed over the years. I think he is a peace with the Luke thing now. But, doesn't mind playing something different than "luke and laura"

    ReplyDelete
  24. I can understand wanting to play something different with the L&L love, but that doesn't mean they can't wind up together which is what most L&L fans expect and want. They are two actors who work together too well to ignore that.

I'd like a story in which Laura acts as if she accepts Luke's rejection, but begins to devise a campaign of her own to win him back. It could take a year, but that would just keep us watching! I think first she ought to get a career going. Laura's no dummy--she managed a business before and could again. She could become a stylish business woman, which would catch Luke's eye. He'd see how interesting she's become. Powerful, maybe as capable as she had once been before. No longer needing rescuing, but needing loving. She makes sure he is aware of her, of her interest in a certain Frenchman who has arrived in PC to do business with her. Luke is certainly not over her, but he expected her to be this invalid after so many years in sanitariums.

I think the scene they played this week showed that Laura is not over Luke no matter how he is playing it. Her tears and sighs and dispair later shows that. So get moving, girl. This is the man you were ready to die for many times, your first great love, and you CAN win him back. But make it an effort worth watching!

I always hated the Scotty baby love thing. He was going to take care of his child bride, but she was rebelous when he tried managing her all the time. I really grew to dislike Scotty more and more. I also watched him fall for Dominique--now that was Scott's mature and real love. He and Laura were simple teen-age crushes. She wanted to get away from her parent's home and the court restrictions, and be all grown up, so she married Scotty when he asked her. Then he turns out to be all controlling, too!

She healed Luke as much as he healed her, gave him the love he needed so much--but he freed her also. And she grew up. That love story had many layers, coming out of who they were.

TG has repeatedly said he hated all the deluded mallie women who chanted like Beatlemania that they wanted him (as Luke) to rape them.

    ==================

Scotty did move on and is much better suited for Lucy.

The thing w L&L was that Luke never loved Laura as a woman but as his 'angel'- his savior. She was not real for him.

And Laura was the woman wanting to save the twisted man.

Her love for Luke was the reverse of Scotty's for her.

They all need new lovers, although Luke and Tracy are PERFECT.

    Tracy is Luke's REAL soulmate.
