General Hospital's Biggest Mistake of 2011...

Was it hiring Garin Wolf as head writer after Guza walked away? That's a biggie but I'm not choosing that.  Although I don't think Wolf is up to the task of taking over or 'fixing' much of anything, it's still not the biggest blunder. We did get some Monica scenes after all, that's something.

Vanessa Marcil leaving after a year's build up to a marriage that lasted a little longer as Kim Kardashians? Naw, I blame Guza for the way he brought her back in the first place --that was a freekin' waste of time to have her in Italy forever. Can't blame VMG for walking away.

Sonny taking up with NuKate after not having anything to do with her after she got plugged at their wedding eons ago? He waited all of 45 seconds before diving back into the Bensonhurst pain on that one. We even got a New Actress to play her! Nope--it's not the biggest one, although it comes really close. 

Jax leaving the show after how long? Tempting... Robin walking away? hmmmm...Lucky going off into the sunset? Nikolas leaving Port Chuck without even saying goodbye to Alexis and his other family member? Those four are temping but no.

Recasting Kristina comes close, but no cigar. That's an outrage more than a 'mistake'. Its' a stupid sexist move, not a blunder.

Hold on to your hat--but I think the thing that totally derailed GH in 2011 was...the return of Franco. Yep. You know I love my Franco and his Fronkey. It was cheesy the first time around but the story moved along. This year? Good Lord. You could have had a baby between the story and the actual action. It has to be one of the worst "villain" tales ever. He was on 3 times in 4 months for about 2.2 minutes. What a waste of time. Not really happy about the idea of him torturing Sam and Jason with the 'suspected rape' either. Rape is so overused on soaps it's not funny. We just go through Michael's, now Sam isn't sure she's been abused or not. AND she didn't even go to the hospital!! Given the AIDS storylines GH has had, that was a misstep that's so huge, it's negligent. Even Jason had the guard test Michael for HIV in the prison.  What should have been a happy time (the wedding) turned into WEEKS of Honeymoon hell, terrible pacing and continunity. Now we can see these two moping all over the place. @@
Why would they waste a cameo like Franco on this tripe?  Watching JaSam sit on the bed yesterday and mope around is just--ugh. Now we get to watch Jason track him down, fool around with mind games and Sam get all worried about whether or not she's PG with his kid.  Blood, Pain...Angst..Misery. Couple that with Sonny's 99th revisit of the Deke sheeze and we can buy stock in Puffs Plus.
Enough already. 

Friday: O' Canada!

Today is my 'boy's' birthday.. he was born at 3:58pm and I kid that he waited until GH was over to come into the world (not that I was watching after 27 hours of labor ,thank you!!) I'm off to the  North so he can order a beer legit-- at least he's going with us and not a car full of friends! 

ERGO--- I won't be here for the show.  That means Sonya has to take over the recaps if she's watching and everyone else that posts daily can help.  Let me know the skivvy. Somehow I don't think I'll miss anything crucial. 


NEW SCOOPS are posted-- mostly Franco and Lucky related. Franco for stalking the wedding/honeymoon and Lucky for being all jittery for Vicodin and packing up Siobhan's things.

I am predicting a nice Murder Mystery coming up-- maybe for November Sweeps?  Not saying who's dying yet-- or if they are really 'dead-dead'-- but I do think something's brewing.  

Nu Kate and Sonny will cross paths soon-- we'll have to see if there's any spark in that there recast.  I really felt like I was watching a show from the past with Olivia/Kate yesterday. It was a bit bizarre. Also, did anyone note the star tattoo on her wrist? Is she connected to the flour bags? LOL!!

A Part To Die For: Franco Frenia

Next week's episodes of the soap opera General Hospital will feature Missouri City resident and Houston broadcaster Michael Garfield in a few macabre scenes with guest star James Franco.

In the story arc that begins next week, Franco reprises his role as an eccentric killer who is also named Franco. Garfield, 46, plays a model that Franco photographs in his studio.

"He's starting to take pictures of me in his crazy studio, in a dead position," Garfield said. "So I am his model-slash-body that he ultimately kills... he and I have a little confrontation, needless to say."

Garfield, best-known locally for his KPRC radio show The High-Tech Texan Show With Mark Garfield, flew to Hollywood last month to work an 11-hour shoot.

Is he imagining Stone Cold laying there?? BTW, anytime they need a dead body on GH, I'm available!!!

But the bride isn’t exactly dripping in Neil Lane jewelry in this exclusive photo. Why isn’t she donning the Vera Wang? Is Jason about to offer tickets to the gun show? And is that the officiant in the background or is Teddy Chen Culver just playing a creepy observer?

James Franco on GH Return: HUH?!

In yet another twisty turn, seems no one told Mr. Franco that "Franco" is coming back to mess with Jason Morgan around the time of his wedding. WHOOPS.

James Franco is scheduled to return to “General Hospital,” but exactly when appears to be up in the air.

Earlier this week, it was reported that James would return to the ABC soap on September 20. However, when Access Hollywood caught up with James at the “Rise of the Planet Apes” premiere in Hollywood on Thursday night — his return date was news to him.

“I will be back to ‘General Hospital,’ but I’m filming a movie about the Wizard of Oz in Detroit right now, I haven’t filmed any new episodes for ‘General Hospital,’” James told Access.

“I don’t know if they like think I’m going to fly out on a weekend and shoot something, but I don’t see it fitting into my schedule anytime soon,” the actor continued. “I’ll go back, but they said like September 20 or something I have no idea what they’re talking about.”

Adding, “I don’t know when I’m going back.”

Oprah looked amazing in that dress. Wow...good to see her, she's an awesome speaker. Everyone just stopped and watched her.. I'd say best dressed to a presenter!! YOU WIN AN OSCAR! AND YOU WIN AN OSCAR!! 

I was so happy to see Billy Crystal. 

Natalie Portman is a starlet that totally kept her nose clean, went to school and is so respected. GOOD For her!!!  There are many of her generation who didn't. 

Colin Firth's win was good.  That movie means a lot to me because of the speech pathology nod. He did a great job with his stuttering. It's not easy to replicate. I thought that James Franco's clip  fir 127 hours was really moving. 

Boy, they were boring this year, more than usual imo. My fave parts were: Morgan Freeman mentioning GH, James Franco as Marilyn, The Modern Family shout out and SANDY BULLOCK mentioning General Hospital!!

Well, it was a strange Oscars --not sure if Franco meant to be that spacey--but he was.  Maybe he was trying to play a "Straight Man"?? His commercials were way better.

Sunday Surgery: A Lesson in Dissection

Well, here it goes. I'm attempting to show exactly where GH writing has gone wrong in so many ways--just by using one story as an example. (wish me luck!) Watch as I dissect a Guza story arc.

                                          The Story? Cassadine/Spencer Baby-Switch**

This is Liz' THIRD Who's the Daddy story. Let's just start right there. THIRD.  I'm sure as soon as Becky found out she was PG, she just dusted off some of her old scripts, switched the names and she was good to go. 

Let's start with Helena because she's the one that messed with things in the first place.


April 2009---Hells comes to town for hospital opening and steals a painting from Wyndemere that has a birth certificate on it. Flies away...

September 2009 --comes back  to Port Charles complaining/ranting about a terrible man named "Valentin" who's a Cassadine hell-bent on getting revenge from both the Spencer and the Cassadine families. Poor Matt Borlenghi is hired to play the character, who we have not seen to date. Nikolas sends Grandmother to Greece.

October 2009--Jonathan Jackson comes back to the show, prompting many L&L2 fans to tune in and hope for a proper "reunion" of the characters. 

Feb. 2010---Helena comes back after finding out Liz and Nik have had an affair. She switches DNA tests showing that Liz's baby is actually Nikolas'-- when in reality, the baby is Lucky's.  Why would she want to bring a Spencer up as a Cassadine? Something about "revenge"--not that she's interested in her real grandson, Spencer OR her half-granddaughter Kristina. Helena also kidnaps Tracy and Luke follows. There's a dungeon scene..yada yada. Valentin isn't mentioned nor is the birth certificate. By the way, the reason Tracy was first kidnapped by Helena was over her suspicions about the baby's paternity. Tracy seems to have a terrible lapse of memory and never mentions this to Luke or anyone else after she's found. This more than anything else demonstrates the non-continuity in each story even within a few weeks!!

So,  Helena had been on and off  over a period of 10 months, and involved in 3 unconnected story lines, two of which had been dropped. 

On to the baby!! Aiden Alexi Nikolovich Cassadine was born on July 15th, 2010. He is really Lucky's first biological child and Luke and Laura's first grandchild. But why bother with all that? 

As this story has unfolded a great PR opportunity came up for the show and James Franco (Oscar hopeful no less) does his stint as crazy artist "Franco". Ergo, it makes sense that instead of continuing the story about paternity, the baby is kidnapped and sent to be raised by "Franco's Mother'... Uh..ok....Lucky actually rescues his own child but turns it over to Liz and Nikolas. 

Becky goes on real maternity leave in August 2010...taking the children with her.
(PS. Helena still has not been on the show since Feb.) 

Liz is back on canvas October 2010. Nikolas has been having a "story" with Brook Lyn involving her escorting him to parties/events we never see. Lucky is now involved with Siobhan an Irish Lass who may or may not be an Interpol agent.
Liz is working at the hospital-- concerned about Robin. 


That's it. Now..I ask you--- even when  this all fleshes out, who will care? Liz doesn't even talk about Jason's kid, let alone Aiden at the minute so whatever. Helena may or may not be back in Dec or beginning of the year. I have no idea if this is going to happen or not. So many things have been dropped or moved, I don't even want to speculate.  Point being, this is a story that was written so badly, took so much time to unfold that it's a BORING MESS. Who cares who raises the kid when we never see either man bonding with him? Who cares when Liz already has a kid with a man she never even mentions his name to? YAWN. And remember, this is just ONE story-arc being looked at. A dozen more could be looked at in the same way.

**Of course, Brenda's back now, so none of this matters.


We have ANOTHER BABY secret to worry about. :eyeroll: Can't wait.

Sunday Surgery: Vitamin B12 Shot STAT!!

Mornin'!! How was YOUR soap-watching week? I guess you can tell by MY blog posts that I was so happy about OLTL, I  didn't have much use for GH. *SIGH*. I do not plan these things. I actually had stopped watching OLTL for about 2 weeks-- I'm not picky when a show bores me. Now, it's just everything I really want in my daytime. Thrills, spills, surprises and a huge use of vets and all characters. Daytime Confidential reports that OLTL's ratings have gone up dramatically. I'm taking credit for some  of it--with all my gushing on twitter,  it had to make a dent!!

On To General Hospital.  Where to begin? Well, I have loved having Kirsten Storms back on screen. She just brings a sparkle to everything. She and Spin had been MIA for a bit and now that she's back, the writers tend to give us more "fun" scenes. We had Robin's bday party!! Ok, so it lasted about 3 minutes, but still..it was there!! Diane, Max and Milo? How fun was that? Here's an idea: We see Max/Milo's apartment-- and they live like bachelor slobs. More Max and Milo!! I also wish Suzanne was Diane's sister or cousin or something. That would have expanded her GH base a bit. I love to tie things together, notice? (I wanted Claire to be her niece or sister too).

See that photo up there? I swear it's like Deja Vu..having Luke fake another attack? Wasn't there ANY other options? Plus, if I see the Haunted Star as an empty tomb anymore I'm going to scream. LOL.  I'm not going to complain though. If it gets more airtime for JE, I'm fine with it. I just wish they could come up with a decent story. Luke and Tracy should be working ELQ and doing all sorts of nasty corporate take overs. There's total drama on Wall Street dang it!


November Sweeps are coming. Usually I get a big ol' press PR thing about them. This year? Nada. In fact, the "Sweeps" read pretty dang boring (hence the need for a Vitamin B12 Shot!) Sam's going to pretend to be Brenda so the gang can "lure out the Balkan"-- not gonna work though. Can't have that be exposed yet. Siobhan is kidnapped, which I guess we are supposed to care about. Emma is wandering around on Halloween, which furthers Lisa's plan to make Robin look crazy. 
Lucky wants Siobhan to stay at Wyndemere. Now, think about it, Nikolas slept with Liz, you'd think that he'd keep his newest lady away from his bro! Siobhan is in danger, blah, blah..blah. Anyone care about this chick yet?? 

Of course, you can't talk about November sweeps without mentioning BRANTE!! I hear the two of them covered up a crime Brenda committed. That makes total sense. How close they got "romantically"-- that's up for grabs.  We know Dante is sure smitten. Brenda starts to have nightmares. Yada, yada.
The actual Balkan isn't due to surface until December-- and I'm betting on it being "Theo" the mysterious patient at GH. That is unless  Guza gets some weird  change of heart and brings Diego back to do it..HAHAHAHA. Get it? Texting all  over town. Heh. Franco has said he wants to come back at some point to direct and further his Franco-Franchise. I tell you what, if he does get an Oscar nod for "127 Hours" I highly doubt he'll have time for ABC. Just a thought. 

SPOILERS are up!!  Take a gander. I'm being somewhat conservative. I haven't mentioned some of the rumors rattling around like: Sam's PG--  Robin's PG, someone's getting married, Robin's in a fire-- yada yada... Can't confirm any of them yet. There's also one that involves Jax and Brenda thaht I don't think is happening either. Alberta's walking in the LA AIDS walk soon, so please hit a google ad in her honor.


So...here we are, starting a fresh week on GH. Hopefully, I'll be here more often than I was last week. (real life called!)  Here's a question. If there was going to be a wedding on GH, who would you like to see get hitched? Tracy/Luke?  Lante?  JaSam?   or a wild card like Lucky and Siobhan (having to marry for her to stay in the country??) Let me know.

One Day Until Brenda-Bration! Today's Editing: BIZZARO

I'm trying not to mention it so much, but it's hard not to start the clock. Especially tomorrow with the Marathon. How many are watching? It's running 3 to 1 on twitter for NOT watching! LOL. I want to see the other stuff happening on those episodes as well...it won't be 100% Brenda. That alone will be worth some watching!!

OLTL today..that actress playing Ford's Mama  is terrible. I don't say that often, but she totally ruined the scene today with telling her kids about their past. Wowza. Wooden and just evoked no emotion from me.  What a shame-- OLTL usually does well with casting. In contrast, Tea/Blair scenes were perfection. sniffle. The montoage at the end was so cool... the fights! The hugs! The tears! The Todd! LOL. Ratings be damned, OLTL is the best written show on ABC Daytime.

TODAY'S SHOW: Shirley's daughter,  Marty was so bitchy and good acting on her part. You hated her as soon as she opened her mouth. She looks a lot like Megan Ward to me. Don't really get the whole point of that scene but whatever. Someone on twitter mentioned that they should have gotten the chick that played Elizabeth Walton to play the part! LMAO. Perfect!!

Carly's shirt is bugging the hell out of me. The timeline is all off too. Hell, Lucky flew out to Oregon, it's night so in Port Charles it would be about 3am if it were still the same day. Ugh.
Question this: Why was it so easy for Lucky to find Franco's Mama and the baby?? hmmmm. Plot point? Setting the stage? Meant to be? Did he put a chip in the kid? CRAPTASTIC EDITING ALERT:   Lucky was on the couch talking to Karen, the next second he's on the plane with the baby! whahahahahaa. Commercial jump, and he's already gathered the baby and  is flying home?  Oh, how stupid. Someone HAS to get continuity right on this show. THEN Aiden is HOME in his mama's arms  the SAME 'NIGHT"!! Good God. I'm sorry, I know you need to rush all this because of Brenda but ughhhhhh. that's bad.

Sonny on the docks in the  fog-- looking for Brenda but finding Claire. Ah, that tricky mist!!  It's the same fog that made Luke think Laura Templeton was his angel. Sonny chats up Claire with stories  about Brenda.  Nice way to flirt.  Guess we have to catch the audience up.

Last scene with Brenda and  Sonny...they look so cute. And young. 
PS. Michael Saucedo is tweeting that Becky (Elizabeth) is in the hospital, getting ready to deliver the baby!!!

What Will This Week Bring? Filler Before The Storm!!

Nine days to go... and this week will seem like filler until the Brender stuff pops up all over the screen. I loved Steven Lars applying what totally looked like BRUTE on his abs. Ooo LAH LAH!!! NICE... so nice. We get to see Robin's pristine photos hanging in her locker (soon to be defaced by ol' Looney Lisa).

Dante, Jason and Lucky sitting around discussing Franco's inner psyche like they are FBI profilers. Hey, find any stinky bananas in there!!??

Loved Olivia defending her MAN Johnny. And get skanky Brooke away from him!! Ok, I don't HATE the character of Booke, she's someone you like to hate. She DOES have ties to the Q's so there's always hope that will start to connect. I still want her with Ronnie. I'm telling you, it could work.

Claire still wanting Sonny's sperm is such a STUPID STUPID storyline!! UGH...she's strong, independent and doesn't need to be running around begging for a mob guy's juice!! I mean, if she really wants a kid, go to a bank!! My idea? Claire has been taking hormone shots (she's so desperate for a baby) and Sonny finally gets her PG with SIX kids!! Sort of a TLC type show then. Sonny=Jon Gosselin as someone said on Twitter. 

Lisa and Steven chem test...again. What DO YOU THINK about them? And,  I do think Olivia just drank Patrick's beer?? LOL

Brooke going to Sonny about the whole Johnny thing. giggle.

Carly and JOHNNY? WTH...see, there are certain spoilers I refuse to put up. That's one of them. ugh...makes no sense. One of the other spoilers I never put up was Georgie's death. Someone said Laura Wright said they don't do the deed. GOOD. Most of the spoilers said they did, but like I said, I'm not putting it up. Three weeks ago I thought: Well, maybe if I don't put it up, it won't happen!! LOL

Gee...anyone on today EXCITING???????? Hmmmm. Our PREZ perhaps?? I didn't watch. Can you believe it? Just not my thing--I will watch you tubes of it. I'm sure there will be clips all over the place. I heard he was very gracious.

AMC: Uh... David/Greenlee-- if he starts drugging her, this just may as well be "David story #4455". zzzzz. Angie is really PG?? Okayyyyyy. New Bianca is still underwhelming me.

OLTL: What a POOR casting choice for the Ford boy's mama...Just terrible.  She's too young looking and today with the Bo scenes? Uh...well, the acting was atrocious. Just atrocious. I do love Vickers and Dorian writing on "Face Space" to each other. Heh.

GH: See the new "Brenda Promo"...??? THEY SHOW HER MOLE right there--just the corner of her mouth and "the mole"!! :twirling:

I still get such an empty feeling watching GH-- the scenes are all so isolate. LULU should know about Nikolas' kid being taken-- the shooting of HER BROTHER Ethan!! It's all chopped up because of the blocking. Even after the hospital shooting, it felt like 'nothing'--we used to get so many characters coming together if anything happened there.  I don't know, I just don't get that soapy feeling watching much.

Sonny says he'll be happy to give it to her...but not with the baby part. EDITING: Sucks--sucks! First the whole Skye/Jax thing is just inserted in there nilly-willy. Then, the Franco thing climaxes and we dont' even SEE JASON AND DANTE at all today!!! This is why I bitch about block taping. Plus the fact Skye had NO scenes with the Q's but we get useless scenes with Claire/Sonny. I think today was just 'insert all the crappola" day.

Nashville was HUMMIN' this weekend with the Soap Stars turning out for SSW. A lot of pictures came out of there...I'll share a few. The band "Port Chuck" played for fans and they LOVED it! I heard Steve Burton even rapped!! Another musical act were "The Divas"...made up of Bobbie Eakes,  Kassie DePaiva, and Kathy Brier.

Laura Wright was also at the event, hanging out with Kelly Monaco. Her hubby was along as well.  Peeps went to a bunch of bars in town. Steve Burton tweeted this in the wee hours: Good night Nashville. Feels like home here. Thanks for everything.god bless and much luv.

 

How far are they going to push the Lante Sex scenes?? First there's the blurred boobage we had with JMB--and now, DZ looks like he's totally naked in this photo! (not that I don't love it!!) ALL the soaps are going for the lust it seems. Are you liking the "classic" soap bitch character of Brooke Lyn? She reminds me of Bobbie going after Scotty when he was with Laura.


One thing I'm going to miss about SoapNet are their cheesy musical summer videos. Here's "Heat Wave"...which is pretty cute to watch. I actually hope they keep the SoapNet website, it has a lot o great stuf all over it. Remember too, in July those character mash-up web series are coming!!!

Perez Hilton had an item up about FRANCO, basically saying that the actor thinks he can come back 'again and again' because "no one ever  dies on soaps"... GREAT. ;/ Don't want to hear that, thank you! Go to The Wubs Net to find out what the scoop that Franco dropped involves. It IS performance art!

On Twitter, this week, Carolyn Hennesy was on her trapeze, flying around all over the place. Nancy Lee Grahn wants us to write to ABC.com and put her in for Dancing with the Stars. Ingo Rademacher went to work with his wife and Peanut. Steve Burton said he and Franco were "up late into the night"... (@@~!!)

Number 3-- General Hospital  in a mostly boring week, I really enjoyed Brooke Lyn and Sonny's patio brunch and chat. Nice use of history and it reminded me of some of Sonny's qualities that have been ignored for a long time. Wubgrade: B

Number 2--All My Children this show has driven me nuts for a long time but  I loved Jake and Amanda's wedding because it was so fun and joyful. Wubgrade: B+

Number 1--One Life To Live had a STELLAR week-- full of laughter, nostalgia and just plain great stuff.  Tomato baths, hamburgers, lots of lust-- and David Vickers. (welcome back!!) Wubgrade: A+

It's starting already!! Who's in? Who's out? Will they clean house to afford Vanessa? Will OLTL go JUST to afford her? (that's a joke, btw). Also, many MANY rumblings of her tied with Franco is some way. Even SID mentioned the possibility on Twitter! Don't panic just yet...although a PR Person told me they heard she's staying for up to a YEAR!!  Probably got the same deal Sarah Joy Brown did when she came back.  ABC reps are now saying she's on "for the forseeable future." Hmmmmmmmmmm. Well, this will surely generate HUGE Buzz for GH, more than Franco could even get. Can't WAIT to hear what some of the cast has to say when they think no one is listening. Heh... You know there's going to bve some catty stuff there!! I will keep my ear to the ground and make Gedstern get on the Gossip.

So many people intertwined. Characters that have been on the show forever (Bo/Nora)--with their kid. (who was only SORA'd a bit) David and the Technicolor Dream coat. "Good in "England and America and American Somoa"... If you didn't see it make sure you DVR SoapNet tonight or go to abc.com tomorrow. Hilarious!! And Clint!  HEH. This whole wedding made my year for soaps. Nice. KISH should have been there thought, just sayin'

GH: Carly talking to Sonny--interesting. Good for the writers!! Carly spoke the truth.  "you shot me in the head once, but accidents happen"...ahahaha. They were both abusive, btw. Sonny is trying to say Carly deserved it in some way. Goodness. I liked Carly in this conversation.

OMG, Warren going after Krissy in the hospital!! ;/ WOW...great scene tough to watch. He's a good actor. I can also understand the way Krissy misses/loves Keifer. Yeah Jax...see he can do stuff right sometimes.

Crazy Thursday: General Hospital Spoilers

I've had a crazy, confusing day and will be going to my hometown again for another funeral tomorrow. It's been a heck of a 10 months, that's for sure. I did get some Spoilers up, I think they are interesting. Especially that Lisa and Patrick get trapped in an elevator!! wahahahhaa! I mean...reallllllllly. I think in this day in age that should be BANNED as a plot device. Please.


I saw a bit of GH today, caught Helena...saw Alexis and Liz. Lucky with the mask in Johnny's face. LOL. I also got a glimpse of MR. FRANCO's face. :/ he haunts me,  I tell you!!
