GH is interrupted today because of what's happening in Washington. I have been so proud of myself keeping politics out of the blog-even during the election but today that goes out the window for a moment.
There will be no Sunday Surgery because I am driving down to DC for the Women's March tomorrow. I plan on joining thousands upon thousands who are concerned about health care issues and other legislation due to be passed soon. As a speech pathologist who works closely with moms/dads and children with disabilities I felt compelled to join this march. I've never done anything like it in my life, but now is the time.
I will be periscoping on Twitter (if cell phone service isn't interrupted) under @WUBSNET or you can download the app on your phone. I'm also WubsNet on there.
I have enjoyed the show this week and will probably do a quick summary on Monday. Take care. Be good to each other. I feel like we are all going to need that for the future.

Chad is leaving GH
I'm assuming there will be a recast because Michael is in the thick of things now!!

Meredith Baxter This morning it was announced that television icon Meredith Baxter will be taking over the role of Monica Quartermaine....

Well, ratings are out. So much for getting rid of Dan and Chris!!! How'd that work out for ya? You see my friends, it's not ONLY T...

Up and down week for me when it came to enjoyment. It seemed like things were shuffled up wrong in the editing room and it made me scratch...
I will be at this March, too! Glad you are going!

Thank you for keeping politics out of my escape time.
ReplyDeleteWish everyone would show that same constraint...
Some people just can't let it go. Ever.
Y'all stay safe, warm and dry at the march & have fun! What a great life experience.
Karen (and LindaV)--Be safe. The DC march recommends you write your ICE number and medical allergies on your forearm in Sharpie. I think that's a great idea. I am in San Diego and have a group of about 20 women and men going to the sister march here. I even hosted a poster making party last week! We're expecting more than 20k people at our march. BE SAFE. and Good luck!
ReplyDeleteBless you!!! Please be safe.
ReplyDeleteyes all of you be safe.....I wish I could go but I will definitely be there in spirit.
ReplyDeleteThere will be march in NYC also, Karen, so glad you are going!
ReplyDeleteGreat Karen! :) But be careful and stay safe.. I hope it's a peaceful march and it stays that way.
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy that Donald Trump is our new president. It has been a long 8 years so I'm simply overjoyed today!! MAGA
ReplyDeleteVery proud and inspired by you Karen!
ReplyDeleteExcited to read this! I'm definitely with you in spirit.
ReplyDeleteKaren I know I am considered stupid but what are we marching for. A Pro Life group was told they were not welcome to march.I thought this was about women's rights. So men were allowed to march but if you are pro life you can't. I am sure that if you don't like my comment you will delete it.

ReplyDeleteAmen! :)
YOU! I have always been grateful for your daily updates and Sunday insights, but today I am even more grateful AND proud of EVERYTHING YOU Karen. It takes true courage to share in this way, at this time. In his Farewell address Barack Obama asked us to engage in conversation and listen to people of different opinion. When Sonya replied "Amen!" and embraced the comment from "gap" I was crushed that someone I "internet respected" had spent the last 8 years feeling as bitter towards President 44 as I feel towards 45. BUT.... We all seem to share a true appreciation and love for this blog community. Knowing YOU have gone out of your way to keep politics out of this blog, I deeply respect that you put your heart on the line today to share what you are standing up for.
ReplyDeleteps... Shawn Butler is STILL in prison for not shooting Hayden. Just thought I'd point out a pretty big loose end
Well said :)
DeleteAs for Shawn, I totally forgot about that! I bet Jelly has also.

** If they even care about it in the first place, since that happened while RC was still writing the show. They've got enough trouble remembering and closing out storylines and plot points that they've written/started, let alone ones from their predecessors! I could count on my fingers (and probably my toes also) the amount of stuff they've started in the last couple of years since coming on board, and just left hanging, that will probably never be resolved. So I really don't even hold out any hope whatsoever for them to resolve things they didn't start. Which makes things all the more frustrating, since there are some that do need to be resolved/fleshed out. It's one of the big drawbacks to having multiple writers over long periods of time.

I am not happy that Olivia Jerome is back. That means even more mob related stories, violence, and less hospital focus. I am happy with Valentine. He has been intriguing so far. I just wish Nicolaus would come back.
ReplyDeleteI am not a mob fan so I agree I'm not happy she's back either. However I could do without Valentin also. I do miss Nik though. Too bad tiic and Tyler couldn't reach an agreement.
DeleteWith Olivia Jerome back, I wonder if this is the end of Lisa LoCicero? They will probably kill off Olivia Falconeri and give baby Leo to Julian. This would add to his "redemption" arc.
ReplyDeleteI doubt that. Liv is barely on as it is and there is no real confusion because most call her Liv anyways so....
DeleteAs foe protests...maybe we should start a "Free Shawn Butler" petition..heh. Bravo and thank you for your marching. Many of my sisters and friends were out there and I would have been there myself if not for a broken foot. What a magnificent display of unity and energy towards something better. And it was felt around the world.
ReplyDeleteSo proud of you for attending the March! I only wish I could've joined you! The turnout was amazing and the global support even more so! We are not alone and together we can do anything. Look forward to hearing your retrospect of GH this week. I am not loving the Olivia Jerome storyline already – too far back even for those of us who watched back then and awfully crazy! So many others I would've rather seen return. Take care and power on!
ReplyDeleteOne more GH note – I don't know what went down between Anna and Valentin but it better not change the fact that Robin has Anna for her mother and Robert Scorpio for her father. I'm not very big on some long-lost sibling for Robin, but they better not change her paternity or I'm afraid I will finally have to cut them loose. One of the stand out scenes of all time is little Robin standing and Scorpios living room when he walks in and she says "hi, my name's wobin". (too little to pronounce R's) priceless memory – don't screw it up General Hospital!
ReplyDeleteI thought I had posted this already but apparently not. I am proud to say I was in the DC march, too. Karen, if you would like to share you experience please email me. As for Olivia J., I believe she is only back short term. Yeah, they leave so many loose ends like Shawn Butler. I guess Hayden never told the PD that Nik was responsible. I was hoping we would see more of Liv and Ned.

How was DC? It looked incredible on the tv. I went to the Sister March in Detroit and it was good (thousands) but in all cities I wish we would have seen more. Especially after the press conference, Sunday news interviews and new proposed legislation.
ReplyDeleteCarrie, it was amazing! Peaceful and over 500,00. Lots more men than I expected and families.
