Up and down week for me when it came to enjoyment. It seemed like things were shuffled up wrong in the editing room and it made me scratch...
Don't waste your time. they couldn't even focus the show on Jake. they had to throw Brenda's birthday in...so dumb!

ReplyDeleteYeah. Not even worth it. I went to youtube to catch the episode and saw that they didn't even show the memorial. Not only do they have the audacity to kill off probably the one person who is related to every core family on the show, but they don't even have the respect to show a funeral for him.

I don't know, but I think reading the angry Twitter feed was much more entertaining than the show itself.

ReplyDeleteSooooooo bad. I could not believe they did not show anything from the memorial for Jake. Why did they kill him off? Brenda's birthday; so random. Abby/Michael; who cares? Continuity has always been an issues with GH as of late, but this whole Jake dying/Joss living in 24 hours to a memorial the next day is beyond the worst. Shawn in/Jax out. I have been watching since 1976 and I am so disappointed in what they are doing this our show. I'm sure they will do nothing to commemorate the 48th anniversary either. Awful.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree. I think you should watch it. Some scenes were pretty good. Jason's scenes were very good and all the other actors were great.

Today was a Scary Mary Sue Price day so I'm not surprised it sucked today.
ReplyDeleteI said last week that I wouldn't be surprised if they just had the characters talk about the memorial after the fact than actually show the memorial...it is Guza's MO. When was the last funeral actually shown on GH? It would cost too much money to have that many cast members in the same scene- especially so soon after the wedding reception with no staff members...Guza has to save money for click,booms and stunt guest appearances and short term returns...

ReplyDeleteMy disappointment in the writing of GH hit an all time low today. As a 30yr+ viewer I feel so cheated. This is NOT my soap. My soap used to write interesting, well-connected, intriguing, thought-provoking, sometimes really funny, quirky, "can't wait to watch and watch again" storylines. It's been going down hill for years, but now with Jake's death storyline being so poorly written, directed, edited (but always well acted)...it makes it easy to walk away from my favorite soap. Although, I will keep holding out hope that the writers are just "playing with us" and this was all a dream Carly had or that Franco kidnapped legacy character, long-time storyline potential baby Jake..but we know the writers aren't that smart...right?

I watched this show from the very beginning. Of course that puts me out of the demo they look toward, but their shortsightedness fails to see I control their demo by having children who watch because I watch. Not much longer will we watch. Today I watched a hit man tell Luke he had to live with what he did to Jake. A hit man told Luke he had to live with an accident. GMAB! Does Jason live with his killings? Why yes he does and Carly and Sam cheer his murderous ways.

Second- Jason you are a murderer. You kill people. Sit down and shut up. Reading to Joss and talking about Africa doesn't make you less a murderer. And it doesn't make you more of a father to Jake. You won't be a father to a replacement child.
I use to love Jason. When he was a baby and Susan was killed. When he began living with Monica and Alan and Monica grew to love him. During his teen years and even after he became Jason Morgan I thought I saw a spark of goodness left in him with Robin and Elizabeth. I was wrong.
I hate to think I'm going to leave GH but most likely I will and with GH I'll also be leaving ABC. I will cancel the Disney trip and go to Universal. I wrote to tell them this and I'm writing here-two first for me.
They had a real memorial for Emily.
ReplyDeleteGuza actually thinks this is the way to tell the story of a dead four year old? Why hasn't this man been fired yet? If he thinks for one second this is comparable to the Maxie/BJ story, he should not only be fired but be excommunicated from the entertainment industry for the rest of his life. I can not believe they didn't even show the memorial. the pace of this story, the holes and now this? Wow.

ReplyDeleteGood to see Carly going to the memorial for Jake, and her and Jax finally talking to Liz. It was played very awkwardly. Not sure if that was how it was supposed to be played... I'm hoping that Carly and Liz get more scenes together after this.
I thought Sam comforting Jason was better than when she tried to comfort him when Jake first died, but can't she wear something a little less reveiling to a memorial? I'm not a prude, but I know better than to pick an outfit that shows such cleavage!
The birthday scenes were stupid, as were the scenes between Abby and Michael.
No showing of the memorial was the worst of all. Well, that and Jason deciding not to go. Or maybe Jason threatening Luke, knowing what he has done in the past. Or maybe Michael giving the play by play of the memorial. Or maybe having Liz look at a paternity test on the day of her other son's memorial, or maybe showing Jason with Josslyn, (showing us again that Carly and her family are always Jason's first priority).
Well, I finally did it...unleased a Twitter tirade on Michele Val Jean...and I couldn't be more proud. To not even show Jake's memorial is -- pardon the pun -- the nail in the coffin. It was, in a perverse way, hilarious. Of COURSE that's what they'd do to avoid having the VETS come in for ONE goddamn day! Ugh, this show is so, so, so, SO awful now, it's not even funny. Heads should be rolling at ABC.

They want to cancel or combine OLTL and AMC but leave GH intact because it is so good. TPTB need get their heads out of the sand and wake up. As long as Guza is writing this slop, it will never change. We should bombard ABC with letters and demand his ouster.

ReplyDeleteThe show was horrible. Cannot believe that they didn't show Jake's funeral. I bet they didn't show it so they didn't have to bring on some of the old vets. Jax barely having any air time with Carly and Joss is extremely disappointing. Ugh - and Jason reading Joss a book and talking about Africa (ugh!). It should be Jax sitting with her!!!
ReplyDeleteI really think now that Jake is alive. I bet he walked out the front door b/c Franco or someone was there and called him outside (hence the unmarked vehicle that drove during that time). Franco already kidnapped Aidan, so maybe he found out Jake is Jason's and took him.

ReplyDeleteWatch yesterday's epi for Jason's scenes and when Jax & Carly go to visit Liz AFTER the memorial fast forward through the rest of the crap. I am so sick of Michael and Abby I could scream! And the fact that we where screwed out of a memorial for Jake, when this was a chance to have real drama, not just violence for the sake of having violence just breaks my heart. Written well the story line of Jake's death and the fallout COULD HAVE made GH a contender for best soap for the season.
