Franco's Writer's Room Bar and Interview with Film.com

These little tidbits emerged in the interview Franco gave to Film.com  --see full story on the link. I liked the question about how his "Franco" name happened!

On how his role as an artist named "Franco" came about:
"Turns out General Hospital was very open to me coming on. I could design my own character and even write for it. I didn't want that. I wanted the full soap opera treatment. I just said, ‘Make him an artist and make him crazy.' That's all I wanted. They said, ‘We want to call your character Franco.' I thought that was awesome. So the shock of me being on people's screen, being called, ‘Hey, Franco,' keeps people from forgetting it's me. It's like, ‘It's James Franco, but he's acting kind of crazy.' People look at it different from the movies I make. In movies, you just want people to suspect their disbelief. In soap opera, it's so the other world."

Franco has a new bar called "The Writer's Room" in LA...and he's inviting a small  circle of people there for an After-After Oscar Party. Alberta is getting ready!! The Writer's Room will be located in The VogueTheater attached to The Supper Club  and helmed by famous mixologist Daniel Nelson.  
The Guide has the goods on Supperclub, an international supperclub chain that's taking over the historic Vogue Theater on Hollywood Boulevard: "Patrons eat and drink on actual beds while watching edgy performers (dominatrixes, opera singers, midgets on bicycles, etc.) during lavish multi-course meals...which sounds like the BEST venue for Franco to attach a bar to!!
Mr. Franco was on the set to film his eppies for the end of February.

As I said, Brenda is in a gorge Oscar de la Renta creation from the Spring '11 collection. I personally love the colors...not sure if I'd go with the veil, but hey, NOT COMPLAINING!!

I will be unable to blog the show today sorry...please let me know what happens. I don't think it will be DVR worthy, but I'll throw it on anyway.  Use this post to chat away! Did you like the Super Bowl Pics I put down there!!? I still think Eminem's Detroit commercial is my fave followed by the Beetle's "Black Betty"...that song is just FUN to sing!!

The next thing I'm going to write about is more fun in the wardrobe department!! "College Fashion" is a blog that invites college peeps to write about their fave trends and looks. Not only is Lulu Spencer's fashion dissected, they give you step by step advice on how to achieve her look!! I probably would have picked Maxie, but Lulu's great as well. How fun is that!? You have no idea how I would have loved to have done the same thing back in the day for Laura! eeee!!! Long live the Internet. 

James FRANCO is filming on GH today. Laura Wright tweeted the news that he was on set. It is a big thing for him to take time off from the Oscar hosting hooplah for this!! I can only hope he's brought his Fronkey-- hey this is great PR for our show. Just sayin'. 




REMINDER: Oprah is having soap legends on her show WED of this week. "Luke and Laura" will be on. Maybe Genie will surprise us and say "I'm back"!! I doubt it, but one can hope. 



RATINGS are on Soap Opera Network...not a great week for ABC. GH tied all time low in 18-49demos.

Connie Towers and Jack Gavin models for Regan Play

 Stockard Channing and Stacey Keach are appearing in Jon Baitz's "Other Desert Cities" at the Lincoln Center in Washington, DC. 

"It would have been Ronald Reagan’s 100th birthday on February 6th, 2011, which seems the right timing for Lincoln Center’s extraordinarily well-acted production of Jon Robin Baitz’s “Other Desert Cities,” a new play with a script that would itself be extraordinary if it were not for the bizarre, almost self-parodying twist of the final 15 minutes."

The Wyeths are said to be modeled after John Gavin, an actor turned politician (Reagan’s ambassador to Mexico) and Gavin’s wife, actress Constance Towers. John Gavin was friends with Ronald Reagan; his wife is friends with Nancy. 

The play makes up a Hollywood-political family which is a blend of the Regans and their children as seen through the author's eyes.

Sarah Brown Cookies!!

We all know that Sarah Joy Brown is a big champion for the Gluten-free movement. Her friend, Bergen Williams, has made a cookie (gluten free of course) and  named it after her! Bergen runs EatMe Cookies, specializing in Vegan and Gluten free varieties. If you don't recognize the name  "Bergen  Williams" --she's Big Alice on GH!!

For me? Loved the finger-sucking Doritos commercial..Richard Lewis/Roseanne, Go Daddy with Joan. My fave though was Eminem putting the love out to Detroit.  Just nicely done.

The half time show was like Woody Allen's "Sleeper" meets "Tron" or something!  LOL  The good part? SLASH!!  Poor Xtina, botching the lyrics to our national anthem.  

One last photo, it's not of a GH person but I love her. It's Niecy Nash, she said she's at a "Super Bowl  Party on Top of the World"!! 

Sunday Surgery: Get Out The Gowns!

 

There it is...the SnB moment you've all been waiting for! 

Today I thought I'd write about something fluffy and light...with the rape revelation last week and the heavy scenes, I know most blogs will be waxing poetic about Chad Duell and his performance. I've already done that--with heavy Kudos to Steve Burton and Laura Wright as well. Today is a day of Fun! Of "Say Yes To the Dress'!! 

So, what did Brenda choose as her next dress--she's had two already from the past. Her newest one got shredded by someone lurking in Jason's penthouse.  They want us to think it's Carly...but that's just WAY too obvious...isn't it? 

I've got the goods!!! This dress is an Oscar de la Renta in a pale dusty-pink.  Word is it cost a bundle!! The veil is also interesting as you can see from the photo. The bridesmaid's dresses are a light mocha with light pink sashes. The altar flowers are white tulips. Speculation is the dress is this Oscar number.

This was not one of my fave looks for Brenda... This look was the one she wore when Sonny left her at the altar. I personally think it was a bit nightgownish.  For all Brenda's Wedding dresses go to the fabulous Sonny and Brenda Wedding Countdown. 

Yes, a bit of a departure from my usual groan/bitch Sunday Surgery. I guess because I'm a sap for a decent wedding, few that we ever get on GH.  I think I'm in heaven with Tracy and Luke's so close to this one!! 

My FAVE Scene of the Week: I have to pick the one where Carly is overhearing  Robin and Brenda are trashing her.  Laura Wright's face was perfect. Tough Carly, still bothered by the barbs that were thrown by the girlies. Almost felt like Jr. High and being in the stall when someone is talking about  you. I liked it because it was honest, and featured some girl interaction. 

Oprah will feature Soap Opera Legends on Feb. 9th. Look for GH's Luke and Laura to be featured!
