Sunday Surgery: Wine With No Pants

Sometimes you just have to lead with something light or you'll go crazy. Dante took his pants off and had on a pair of boy shorts so long, who could tell? Still... good to see something that at least felt like summer-fun.

It's been another week of "building" the next stages of stories so again, we are faced with many things that are frustrating and clunky.

I'm having cold pizza because Dante and Liz didn't eat all of theirs. Let's GO GO

ACME MOVERS:  At least we got a Yuri scene out of Willow moving into the gatehouse, right? Good scenes with Tracey because, well--Jane Elliot BUT.... (here we go) CAN we either DO Chase and Willow or stop with the Shirtless scenes? It's so embarrassing. I think there's been 66 of these and it's just silly at this point. I'd much rather see a Love-Hate Millow dance than whatever this is. Brook Lyn's jealous. Also: Brook Lyn STILL has the "secret" of the whole accident thing. Can you imagine if Curtis ever finds out she didn't say anything and he's in jail for hating the wrong person? ahhahha.  By the time that happens, we will have moved on and the punch of that fact will be long gone.

BABY BLUES:  *sigh* This guy is just-- NOT IT.  Hudson found out the entire adoption story about Phoebe and happened to see her at the boathouse which is meeting central lately. Brook Lyn continues to wear her sleeves to her ankles and it's distracting. That's all I have to say about this situation so you know it's boring.

MEANWHILE AT THE SURF SHOP:  Could the music business BE more banal in this story? Simon is on maybe 3x and he's such a dud that I can't even believe he's in that position. This whole entire "you're a couple" story makes no sense in 2026. If they had mapped it out that Gio and Trina went viral and people assumed they were together, it might have worked. Now? That's not how that works. Also, this is the building of the Stalker Story. Is it Quinn or Simon? Both were at the Shack and the shaky cam could have been either one. Is that what we are going to get week after week? Shaky cam and seeing that Pintrest Board? Please go watch YOU and ramp it up.

KAI QUITS: That's it... that's the scene. Willow argues with him about who might be believed with DNA evidence and a ring tone. The ONLY hope we have is that Kai is a gonner by either Willow's hand or the stalker.

PIZZA PANTS:  So, Liz and Dante have a nice evening putting together a bookcase while Dante's knee swells in anticipation. No, sorry, I not that but his knee swells because he slid into a base during softball. Ric went to Sonny to tell him he was going to propose to Liz and Sonny told him he was crazy. Ric went over anyway and got an eye full. He got jelly, stomped back out and Liz and Dante had more wine. Do I want to see a return of manic Ric's obsession with Elizabeth? Hell no. He's trying to lure Lulu into this plans as well.

TEEN SCENE:  To bring you up to speed, Rocco tells Scout to basically do what she wants but on the down-low from her father. She meets with Danny, gets pissed when he makes a remark neab about her dad and.. swims away. Meanwhile, our little Helena is the only one thinking of naughty things to do to Drew and here's hoping it's good. I'd rather have her use that ice-pick but whatever. By the way, you're wasting Emma in a JEALOUSY story? Seriously?

ANNA:  Picture me sighing with my head down. Looking up and eyes rolling. WHAT IS HAPPENING. First you have her come home with Peter behind her, now she's buying land from Sonny to probably keep Britt on and... she meets Tristan the most boring bore of a bore doctor spy ever. Finola acts the hell out of any scene she's in so that's not the problem. The problem is we know she's at least hallucinating and plotting but when things move at a glacial pace it's just not good.

LAKESIDE MIX-UP: So, the short story is that Lucas and Joe signed for the same apartment on the same day. Ditsy Lucy didn't know so there's bound to be trouble. The pace of this is everything that's wrong with GH lately. They show Joe going in to measure curtains while Lucy leaves. Then they show Ava and Lucas going in to check out the place. We were alllllll waiting for the two to run into each other. Did that happen? Hell no. Three days went by and we never saw them again. Spoilers show it happening Monday. I will never understand how these things are supposed to work or hold our interest.

THE PLOT: The exact same thing happened with Ava and Drew that happened last week: they sit at the poolside and discuss Sonny's downfall. Given the fact that Ava and Sonny WERE getting along and had one minor argument over MIA Avery, this all makes no sense. Also, since when does Drew hate Sonny? They aren't ramping up the bidding on Sidwell's stuff enough to warrant all of this nonsense. Maura did look great though.

FREE SIDWELL:  So there he was, all smiles with Sonny. I was happy to see him but still have no clue why Sonny went to visit. Was it just to tell him he's going "LEGIT"?? I was happy to see Jenz laugh in his face about that. Now prepare yourself for some Cyrus-Drew redux on the whole Pentonville social club. This time, Curtis steps in.

THE LONG GOODBYE: Curtis was given the longest 48 hours ever to say goodbye to everyone. He got Jordan his job while he's gone and also had 3 speeches for baby Dez. He made wub to Jordan and was tearful on the porch. Interesting that there was no goodbye scenes with Marshall and Stella. Guess they were booked up. The best part of all of this was the Alexis scenes after the AA meeting. As one of the hundreds of characters that has gone to jail, she had some good advice. We also got a montage of him getting jail-ready while Trina sang a song to Desmond. Now we wait for the Pentonville scene
s.

FAVORITE SCENE: YES! I had one this week!! Photo thx to Soap Guru who captured this little discussion perfectly. Lulu stormed into Carly's to tell Val that Charlotte was out on the boat at night and in danger!! Valentin was like "yeah, I know.. no biggie". Carly then proceeded to tell her to get a life outside of Charlotte which sent me into fits of laughter. CARLY who still follows around her grown-ass kids like a blood hound. AHAHHAA. The whole scene was done really well and there was even a pickeball reference. That's a big thing here in WNY.

OTHER STUFF:

Prop of the week: Engagement Ring of Ric's

Laura says goodbye to Lulu and Rocco before her break to see Kevin

Jordan decides Drew can stay at Aurora to "keep their enemies closer"

Lucy and Serena keep plotting and.. I guess doing something with Deception.

Drew apologizes to Portia. She says let's just stay away from each other

SPOILER PHOTO:  Liesl returns to talk to Britta. Britt has been wearing loose resort wear lately. She's also not working too much. LOL

I still have major issues with the pacing and the sheer isolation of scenes with this show so I won't bore you with that. You know that editing can be maddening and I will point it out in my daily blogs when it happens. It takes so long for anything to move between stories because there's just too much going on that's not connected. No follow up to the Joe-Lucas thing was terrible. Inserting Serena and Lucy into a throw away scene about Michael doesn't make that line of storytelling at ALL interesting. So here we are. Going into fall with not a lot of bright spots. Charlotte's plan might be something to watch and mayyybe ...um.. Ok, that might be all! Sorry to be a downer but I tell it like I see it.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK! AUGUST VIRGOS--now is your TIME TO SHINE!

CHEERS!
