Project Runway: Another Loser Wins...

*sigh* I TOLD myself that after gruesome Gretchen won, I was done with PR. Oh, but there I was, watching again. I thought this cast was one of the most under talented I've seen yet. Compared with the Santino Season? Snaoooze. 

The whole show this time around was more about the  designers NOT knowing what to do rather than enhancing their already great skills. One reason I liked Bert so much was that at least he knew what the hell he was doing. Viktor Luna had stunning designs week after week. He could make stuff in 2 days that looked like they took weeks. People hated Josh's personality but I liked him. Sorry but at least he was fun and a bit bitchy. You need that dramaz, especially in a dull season. PLUS, his clothes were interesting.

The finale was a let down...hey, remember the days when the designers were thrown another challenge on top of everything else? These guys get 2 days and $500 at MOOD to "enhance" their collections! WTH! Anya has nothing to show that doesn't look like it came from my old home ec class but manages to whip up an entire new collection in 2 days. Guess it pays not to have to sew. 


The end was such a disappointment. I have no words. After seeing the entire season--and coveting Viktor's coat and his OWN dang fabrics, I can't believe they chose Anya. Josh came in 2nd and really deserved to be at the top, imo. Either he or Viktor should have won. Anya had the same dress the entire show! Come on..not only that, the fabrics were pre-printed from MOOD. I think her edgy "look" and 1/2 shaved head wooed the judges into thinking her winning would give Project Runway a 'face'.  Ugh... sorry..you lost a viewer AGAIN. Now let's see if I can keep my promise not to watch. 

PR has a "hot face" as the winner, that's about it, imo.

Primetime WUB

Well, it's the new fall season and I thought I'd do a bit of a round-up of shows I've enjoyed (and not) because I am a TV ho after all and you deserve to know just how I feel about everything, right?? LOL Anyway, here goes....I'll keep it brief!

Boardwalk Empire:  (HBO, Sunday 9pm) I actually re-ordered HBO to watch this brilliant show. The guy with 1/2 a face pasting photos in his scrapbook was worth the $14 this month. LOVE. LOVE, LOVE. Jimmy is going to have to choose between his "father" and his "real father" soon. Chalkie White's going on a rampage, I can feel it. Just a great show.

The Middle: (ABC, Wed 8pm)  I watched but felt something lacking this time around. Not sure what-- Sue Heck still makes me laugh and of course, Brick. Maybe I'm just not into the groove yet. The Ray Romano cameo was great but it also made me long for "Everybody Loves Raymond".

Modern Family: (ABC, Wed 8pm) Still the best-- hilarious and just plain awesome. Having Phil tightrope walk? Inspired. I love how they weave 3 stories together every week. That little doggie took the show this week, didn't it?

Subpugatory:  (ABC, Wed 8:30pm) Not sure yet. The pilot wasn't as caustic as I would have liked it. It felt very "LA" for a NY "based" show. Our burbs don't really look like Desperate Housewives Wisteria Lane. Cheryl Hines was fun as the wife that helps out with bra shopping, etc. Her exaggerated looks are spot on. The premise that Dad moves his daughter because of condoms is weird though-- I guess they had to come up with something. This show needs to be more ironic, sarcastic and smart if I'm going to keep watching.

The Office: (NBC, Thurs 9pm) Ok, I've watched The Office since day one, and even own the British series. I love the show, that's for sure. I can also go several weeks without watching and catch up online. It's not an "instant must-see" for me anymore, but it's still entertaining. James Spader? YES. Andy as office manager is a great move, and I think I will tune in each week for awhile. Loved the tattoo thing last night. Pam looks ready to explode, doesn't she??

Toddlers and Tiaras, Dance Moms... any brides dress show, Four Weddings: (assorted, TLC, Lifetime) Still love these cheesy fun, mindless shows. T&T is getting even worse with the parents, I hope they see themselves and recoil in horrow. Dance Moms is so brilliant I have to think at least part of it is staged. (I think "Cathy" is a plant--and her "daughter" Vivi is from some homeless shelter somewhere--just filling in) Having a dad on? Oooooo, so good. I hear it's renewed. I can listen to Abby's voice slowly slip away another season. I'm a speech therapist, I can help her with that. PS. If you haven't seen "Four Weddings" On TLC on Friday Nights, it's hysterical. 4 brides go to each other's weddings and rate them. Heh.

Biggest Loser 12: (NBC, Tues 9-11pm) Finally jumped the shark for me. The 2 hour format has been a stretch since it started and the fillers have been really boring. So many ads for products are thrown in there. Bob seems tired. Pitting oldsters against 20 somethings? Ummm, no. New trainers? Ummm, good to look at, personalities? Not so much. Off my DVR.

The New Girl: (FOX, Tues 9pm) Oh, I tried to like you, I really did!! The jokes were stale, imo. Zooey is great, the rest of the cast? Forgettable.

How about you?? What shows did you like? I really haven't given any CW shows a chance yet. I guess I just don't think much about tuning in there. I tend to go to the Food Network if I can't find anything because they'll have Chopped or Cupcake Wars on or something like that.
48 Hours Mystery is always a safe bet (Saturday, CBS) and if you get ID (Investigation Discovery) you can always find gruesome true crime to keep you going!!

I am very disappointed with BRAVO lately-- not digging ANY of the "Style" shows-- and I'm not  a Rachel Zoe fan. Patti the Matchmaker is on my last nerve. She needs to start showing weddings she's "created" with her couples or leave. I don't think I've seen more than a handful of successful matches on her show. "The Next Great Artist" reminds me of that sewing show I didn't watch.  "Just Desserts"? Blah. I need something fresh. The Housewives are good for a look  or two and I'm only watching Beverly Hills out of curiosity. Shame on me.

Oh, an Oprah? OWN seems to be a disaster -- I haven't tuned in for one thing since the weight loss show that premired. (people lived in a group environment). Rosie's back but not sure I'll tune in way up in the 400's. Ms O should have opted to take a soap along with her or at least look into it. Not a lot of people following her. I think I'm about her prime target audience and I really can't find much I like. Ryan and Tatum was ok, but again, I never knew when it was on.

Shows I'm looking forward to: American Horror Story on FX and Mad Men on A&E (hurry up already). Hoarders, Intervention..American Pickers are all fillers for me. Primetime hasn't grabbed me up. Maybe because I'm not a talent show watcher. I think I've been watching TV too long as well-- I've seen every plot from Three's Company to Love Boat to Cagney and Lacey redone to death. Maybe that's why Mad Men and Boardwalk hook me..they are totally different. We watch BBCA's "MI-5" on NetFlix too.

Pondering Primetime --Wubber Style

I haven't written about primetime lately and just thought I'd pop in mid year and just dish! PLEASE join in if you watch any other TV besides soaps--ahahahha.

Hoarders on A&E..got more and more gross as the season went on, didn't it? GOOD LAWD!! I couldn't watch those poor chickens last week that were stuck in bins (and I think chickens are pretty stupid) and I couldn't watch the Rat Man this week!! If I want to watch animal hoarders,  I'll watch it on The Animal Channel, thank you.  :shudder:

Intervention: This show is still powerful but after so many years it's just too predictable.  Especially the whole "little kid photo background". What continues to stun me is the fact people who are basically wasted 24-7 can afford to do ANYTHING...but there they are. Sometimes I wish there was a "rehab" place for people who work hard, do the right things..and just need a damn break for awhile. LOL


Teen Mom...Pregnant...After Teen Mom... Done with this. It was novel in the first few seasons, now it just pisses me off. Especially all the mag covers the last crew got for being "teen moms".  Whatever... I like the message of  showing how hard  it is, but wonder if it's getting through. I would LOVE to see them do a Young Mom with tweens -- that's way more sheeze to deal with than infants. I usually want to smack the crap out of the guys in almost every situation too. 

Millionaire Matchhmaker: I am starting to think this show is way scripted and a lot of it is totally fake. Especially those weird-o "millionaires" that pop up.  "Stacey" taking a lie detector test? Uh..okay. I would have rather have seen Patti deal with her broken engagement than most of the episodes this season.

Modern Family: LOVE...love LOVE. The whole "You're living in a children's house"  was hysterical... great writing and tons o' fun

The Middle:  Oh, yes.  Please. More. Sue Heck? My new fave. Brick? Hilarious. :hilarious:

Celebrity Rehab:  Too short...the season moves at lightning speed-- I'm always surprised the depth of celeb's sorrows and lives before 'making it' (Ok, not all are 'celebs' but close enough). Jeremy London was especially interesting to watch.

Tabatha's Salon Take Over:  Still love it but it's pretty much the same formula every time. Tabby keeps it fun with her nasty-self though.

I haven't gotten into 'The Good Wife" yet, which I hear is fantastic-- I just have trouble committing to new drama shows since so many are yanked whenever the networks get tired of them.

 The Housewives of Atlanta and  Beverly Hills-- I can't believe it but I got sick of the Atlanta ladies pretty quickly.  I only saw a couple of BH eppies-- I so hate Camille that I could barely stand it. I will be watching the newest one where Kelsey dumped her. Who's  jealous now Cammy??!  I want the NJ or NYers to come back. I do love me some Bravo Andy aftershows though. He's hilarious.


Biggest Loser-- Same ol' Same ol' even with new trainers. Plus why is it still 2 hours?? zzzzzz. 


Jersey Shore-- Since it's back on just a little  comment: Sorry, I really find this show hysterical. I don't think it's anything but what it is: kids getting loaded and acting like fools. I also think it's the new model for the sitcom.  Those shows are heavily produced -- welcome to the new "Three's Company".


GEESH-- I guess I watch a lot of reality type TV, eh?? The Office and 30 Rock aren't doing it for me anymore, really. I find myself watching ION TV --Ghost Whisperer reruns, some Criminal Minds, Missing People or whatever it's called.  I.D. TV with billions of crime stories. I'm excited that Clean House is getting Cosby kid Tempest to host.
I've stopped watching Top Chef--it just got to be too  the same for me. I don't think I'll watch Project Runway either.


I do love The Soup, The Dish and Tosh.O--tosh is especially hilarious. Old Seinfeld's?? Awesome!! Still timely and funny even 20 years later.  (TWENTY YEARS!!?)


All the good stuff I hear about is on HBO, Showtime...channels I'm too cheap to get. Dang cable robbers. LOL. I really want to start seeing "Episodes" with my ol' friend Joey!! 


That's about it. Any suggestions? Don't tell me about SUVs (I do watch some...especially on reruns) or medical stuff. If I see one more ad for "Off The Map" I'm going to puke. Beautiful people roughing it in the jungle. Okay.
