A friend of mine (yes, I still have a few) was talking with me about the greatest movies of all time. He is younger than me so naturally, his list was filled with Star Wars and Harry Potter. My list started forming and I noticed that it was a lot of black and white films from a bygone age. (Although Godfather was on the list, I am after all half-Italian)
I decided to compile a top 10 list of nothing but black and white films. (sorry, Vito). These truly are, to me, the best of the best. My number one would be The Last Picture Show with All About Eve a really close second. Third would be Casablanca. How many of these have you seen? Are there any black and white films (and they are called films, not movies) that you have seen and enjoyed? What did I miss?

Karen's FAVE Black and White Movie: Mildred Pierce starring Joan Crawford. What a SOAPY SOAP of a movie!! I love it. There's a little GH connection because the Laura/Leslie/David Hamilton story was similar.

Suddenly, Last Summer was the ONLY time that Katharine Hepburn got second billing to another actress (Elizabeth Taylor) in a film.
In Stage Door, Katharine Hepburn, Ginger Rogers, Ann Miller, Lucille Ball and Eve Arden all appeared together BEFORE any of them were really famous. Can you imagine these 5 legends on a set together, not knowing they were sharing the stage with Hollywood Royalty?
For The Last Picture Show, Cloris Leachman did her dramatic scene once and told Peter Bogdonavich "let me do it again, I can do it better" and he said "no, you can't. You just won the Oscar". And, she did.
Psycho was the first time a toilet flushed in a film.
I love old movies. I am old.

I love Arsenic and Old Lace though it has been a while since I have watched it. I'll have to find it online. Wonderful, funny film.
DeleteI'm 48 and raised on TCM. Mildred Pierce and The Women were staples, basically anything w Joan Crawford was must see tv. The Thin Man, Now Voyager, Gaslight. The list is endless lol. Ileana Douglas just published a book about The Women called Jungle Red and I can't wait to read it.

Joe Fitzy, Justine, and Curtis: Curtis tells them what he heard the bad guy say about Sonny! Justine really really REALLY wanted to make sure what he heard was true!

Monet and Liz: Monet gives Liz her business card to give to Curtis because she forgot to give it to him! She IS desperate! She is an ambulance chaser!!

Lucas and Carly: Lucas is asking Carly if she is in wuv with V.C.! She won't answer! She gets defensive! There is someone at the door, so Carly quickly answers and avoids answering Lucas! Hahahaha. She is in wuv with V.C.! :) So that someone at the door is Britch! Carly leaves quickly.
Lucas and Britch: Britch brought wine and to whine about wuv! Was Brad not available?! Where is he?! Britch is putting up a wall and no more wuv!! No more relationships! 1 night stands are fine.
The Q boathouse:
Jason and Danny Cheeto: Geez Danny Cheeto is acting like Charlie is dead. She will be back dude!!! She wants her back now! He must be in wuv with her. Jason tried to make him understand, but he ain't having it!
Danny Cheeto and Rocco: Danny Cheeto wants Rocco to talk to his mother about bringing Charlie back. Rocco would not do that. He thinks it's best if she is there. I have to agree with Rocco! Danny Cheeto blames Rocco and Rocco says this is all on you! Rocco is right!!
Carly's home:
Jarly: They both feel bad for Charlie and Danny Cheeto. They both admit they would do the same thing to protect each other. The Tribbles are very worried about Charlie and hopes Charlie is okay!
