Sunday Surgery: Webseries take over Soap Genre?

Morning!! How was YOUR GH WEEK? Love it, hate it, fall asleep to it? Personally, I found it to be dragging. Although I like the idea of Sonny in therapy--I don't like the idea that it's not about Kristina anymore. Luke/Tracy are getting old in the dungeon-- although hopefully Helena will come back and make my day. Liz--Lucky and Nik? Eh-- Maya, Ethan --Eh. Brooklyn cooking up a storm for Dante who is going to be gaining a LOTTA weight soon!! LOL. I'm also a tad concerned about Spinelli and Carly-- I liked them together but he really isn't the type to destroy someone like she is. Matt and Maxie chemistry? What do you think? Lisa and Steven Lars?? What about Robin leaving for Africa at the drop of an email and nar a metnion of Emma? Well, Patrick did say something about her, but that was all.  You know my feelings on the prison situation. Soon, Jason will be murdering ol' Carter in a brutral way-- and yet, somehow get a pass to go after Franco. Contrast this to the fun on OLTL--which still has it's core families intact and attending the same wedding and although I know GH is the "Dark" Sibling of ABC's 3 soaps, it still depresses me.

Which brings me to a happier note--WEBSERIES!! There are quite a few out there (Gotham, Venice, Empire) already with many more to come. THE BAY starring our own Tristan Rogers and Mary Beth Evans had a big launch bash this paste week. Guess who else is in there? Lily Melgar --yep. "The Lily" of blown up car day on GH! Tristan is also involved with a show that should begin taping this summer, Reality Bytes. Written by Kate Lang, it takes a backstage look at soaps. NICE--we need that! Lily Melgar will also be in this series as well. Do you watch a webseries? If so put a link down in comments so we all can check it out. I do believe this is were the genre is going...right into cyberspace.

One of my fave webseries is about two girls from NY that go to LA and try to "make it". Giovana (Cyrina Fiallo) and Denise (GH's Chrissie Fit) have hilarious hijinks all over the place. PLUS they make really cool video parodies. The Subpranos has a new eppy every Friday. Check them out. Hopefully, the girls will grace me with an interview soon!! (it's my life's dream!!)



 Another HILARIOUS series is Victora Rowell's "Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva" and her latest video, a "homage to the fans".  She's also written a book with the same name, available on Amazon.

I am of course also looking forward to ABC's character mix-up that will be coming this summer. At least they are trying!! It starts in July -- What will Todd do when he meets SPINELLI ??

With SoapNet leaving cable-land, I do think that the internet will become the main place for all things soaps. (I also wonder if SoapNet will close down their website or continue to show videos/have news??).

Friday..Soap Opera "Cliff Hangover Day"??

So, AMC is boring me to tears. Eric and the Mountain Man?? Come on, it's like a 5th grader wrote it!! "The Blanket is on fire"!! LOL  Did like Greens seeing Erica in the elevator. She must be seriously losing it seeing NOT dead people!

OLTL..ah, the fun soap. I just think they go all out to do something different. And David Vickers is back, what more could you want!? Bo in the Tomato Juice..ewww, and having bloody marys? FUN. fun fun fun!

GH: Notice now that they started cooking in Dante's kitchen they aren't stopping??! LOL. That's all they do!! Dante will gain about 40 pounds. Glad they didn't pull out some SLIDES for a little show. OY!

Therapy was shot from therapist's perspective. Of course DEKE is mentioned! And I do hope Sonny DOES SEE he did abuse Claudia. She abused him too of course. I still want a Karen mention. Sonny starts yelling at Krissy right during therapy. LOL. Way to go!! Why can't they have Sonny grow and say something different for ONCE? ;/ Loved Kristina's face at the end.

The Jail: Michael and Jason just waltz around..their cell is open, no one else is anywhere near them. Laughable. Although better than seeing them fake fight!

CASTING: from SUDS Report (Which you really MUST read) • Hopefully someone called Kim Zimmer! GH is casting another short-term role named Suzanne Stanwyck. Here’s the character description: She’s between 50-60; tough; funny; no-nonsense with a heart of gold; low tolerance for BS; and she has spent her life fighting for kid’s rights. GH is asking agents to submit all ethnicities/well-known, established names. The role starts around July 19th and will recur for three to five weeks.

RATINGS: GH only one that posts higher ratings over May 2009 sweeps. Whatever.

So, what do you think of the new GH "OZ" promos?? With Jason slamming Carter up against the bars? "Michael, what happened"...?? What does he THINK happened? And Guza all COY about it. @@eyeroll@@

Well, OLTL out did itself on the dang slap-stick today but by the end I was DYING.!! Who saw Rex with the kleenex stuffed up his nose?!!! And Roxy wanting to do a Gaga "Telephone" in Jessica's head? Oh, I needed that. Thank GOD OLTL takes some weird chances. It was priceless. If you get a chance, watch it on SoapNet, especially the end with Bo and the Boyz. Heh.

Suzanne Whang coming to Los Angeles Cavern Club Theater!

Wubbers:  just found out that Suzanne Whang who played the hilarious 'Polly' the spa manager on Las Vegas is the host of House Hunters on HGTV. i can't believe it is the same actress. Did you know that Suzanne was only supposed to be on one episode of Las Vegas. Vanessa Marcil (Brenda) thought Suzanne was so funny that she went to the producers and asked them to make the character recurring. That kind of thing just does not happen in Hollywood.

If you are in Los Angeles this weekend, you can see Suzanne on stage doing her outrageous standup act at the Cavern Club Theatre.

Dear General Hospital: Please Listen!!

Wow, so many people had so many great comments about why/why not they watch GH... if you haven't seen it yet, it's on the Sunday Surgery. So much passion!! Whether it's for a couple, character or storylines, people so want GH to do well. Seems everytime we get some steam going, things are dropped or characters shoved around or a "guest star" comes on to interrupt things. All I can say is we totally love our actors and so hope that daytime flourishes instead of crumbles.  I think it's already at bare-bones for ratings...the "core" of us that are left are about it. Someone better sit up and listen.
Over at Daytime Confidential, Jamey Giddens has a little blind item out that points to our Brenda coming back. There are rumors that the fall story arcs include her...everyone's just waiting for her to sign on the dotted line. Oh well..it will happen when it happens. Right?

Brandon Barash is in London and tweeted this to Lisa LoCicero. I totally stole it because I LOVE It.  SO London! Look at the mod gal behind him!! LOL.."Yeahhh, Baby"... He travels all over the dang place! Oh to be young, an actor and unattached. NICE.

Dante and Brooke Lyn are just a cookin' along, aren't they? Spoilers are saying that she's actually going to fall for Johnny though...interesting. GH was slow today. JaSamers were probably pretty happy. All their marriage talk, hand-holding. This jail is the most visitor happy ever.

Enjoying a date night before their third child — a boy! — arrives in early August, Rebecca Herbst and husband Michael Saucedo were spotted at Heidi Klum’s Moms to Be Night Out, held Wednesday at A Pea in the Pod in Beverly Hills, Calif. They are expecting a boy!

Alberta Wubs is home from her AIDS Walk NYC -- and her Rock the Soap Tour! I am thinking of having her go to FCW?!
