"No Plans to Televise Daytime Emmys"

While tweeting about AMC and OLTL's eligibility at this next Daytime Emmy event, producer JimRomanovich (@JimRomanovich) tweeted: 

"We have no plans at this time to produce The Daytime Emmys"

The Emmy ceremony will go on however, just not in a televised venue. Both AMC and OLTL will be eligible as they aired shows in 2011. I'm hoping that the "at this time" means we can perhaps wish for a show?? It seems like such a shame to the actors and also the other shows in daytime to miss their chance in the spotlight (and for the fans to watch them). Last year there was a lot of criticism regarding the show being one long "Vegas commercial" which was done in part, to pay for the production. 

This, coupled with the Soap Net News (below) and OLTL-- we have to face the facts that soaps may just be on the last of their life supports.

I'm pissed. Guess what? I wish they would have skipped the Daytime Emmys this year. They have been dwindling year after year-- usually no network willing to pick them up. CBS took them this year and I guess it's because VEGAS paid them to air their infomercial. I would rather have had the soap awards done online...or on the radio. I don't need to see Elvis dancers or Marie Osmond botch her lip syncing. They didn't even have clips of the soap actors material. But more bitching later. Here's the awards:

Jonathan Jackson won for best supporting actor on GH...brought his kids up on stage. 

Young and the Restless won for best writing



Best Moment: Debbi Morgan giving a shout out to the AMC fans... at least someone cares. 

Best Directing: TIE: B&B  and Y&R 


Britt Allen (OLD Marissa from AMC) won for best supporting younger actress. WTF She was so terrible she got FIRED from AMC!! And she beat Lexi Ainsworth?? :thud: ACID TRIP


MY FAVE Scott Clifton won best younger actor!!!

 Well, Gladys Knight came on...cause SHE'S SOOOOOOOOOO daytime. :rolleyes:   Oh, wait, we are honoring Oprah. Nice. :doubleeyeroll: Oprah couldn't even bother to be there to win her double crystal one of a kind award. PLUS she has her OWN damn cable network-- it's not like she's dead or going anywhere. Sorry, but we had enough Oprah hooplah. Gladys needed a Ricola. Her voice was sounding nasty. (vocal coach here, don't be hatin') 

 CONGRATS!

Well, between Vegas, Osmonds, Universal plugs, Deaf Kids and Oprah, we had about 30 min REAL show out of 2 hours. AND about 10 minutes of soaps NO CLIPS!! NO anything!!!!!! SUCKED. Now, I know we should all be groveling and grateful for ANYTHING we get ...but this was atrocious. Like I said, don't bother if it's going to be insulting to the stars and the fans...Guess it was a good variety show to promote Vegas and gameshows..other than that? ugh
They went SO FAST though the soaps categories and yet had time for a 'trip to Universal"?? Scott Clifton couldn't even talk for a full minute? NO CLIPS of actors/shows work shown??!! 
No "In Memoriam" for stars who have passed away?????????? FOR SHAME!

Susan Lucci's daughter Liza is so TALL next to her!! LOL Her tribute was cute... Shemar was nice and a little drunk.  Loved all her "weddings"... "DAYTIME Television is alive and well and look at all the talent in this room tonight"!  FANS ON FIRE!! You said it.

I've decided I can never go interview these ladies on the carpet because I'd look like a HOUSE next to them! LOL...Even Bree who is PG! Everyone has been saying how tiny they are. I guess size 0 is the new 8!!

Well, the "Red Carpet" that was supposed to stream tonight on the net was full of techinical problems. Not SON's fault, it was their first time.  PLUS, at least they TRIED! I still think SoapNet and Disney should be ashamed. Daytime fans are the most loyal out there.

Goodness...David Copperfield starts the show... interesting. hmmm. I'm glad Regis is hosting, he's a good choice. I saw Bradford and Scott Clifton in the audience. My fave boys.
BOO, Carolyn Hennesy lost to Julie Pinson For Outstanding Supporting Actress. Wahhh. I so wanted Carolyn to win, dang it. She is the best thing on Daytime, imo.
Was there enough for DICK CLARK?? I guess so..at least Ryan Seacrest showed up. He always gets ratings?? Or the oldies tuned in for all the 50s people. They could have had a whole show just for Dick Clark, btw. Wubber Lisa's son said Cher looks like Lady Gaga!! LOL.
THE LION KING? uh...ok. I thought I was watching the TONYS!

Supporting Actor went to: Billy Miller of Y&R-- the ONLY person I don't know!! LOL People said though: Billy Miller: IS AMAZING as Billy Abbott RT @Lautnerfan94: @WubsNet He deserved it! Trust me...he was amazing on Y&R! I really thought JJ would get it, wanted BA to get it or RPG. Oh well.

BLUE MAN GROUP? OMG, Who knows about the mummenschanz???? They scared the SHEEZE out of me when I was a kid. WPIX NYC had commericals on for them. I can't even believe I'm talking about them during the EMMYS but that was the entertainment. *sigh*

Drew Tyler Bell won best younger actor B&B --damn it for Drew and Scott Clifton. I so wanted either one of those to win. Here's a comment for that: from @Buzzworthyradio:  umm...i have no words

Outstanding younger actress: JULIE MARIE BERMAN!! Her speech was so nice-- thanking all the actors.  I want to see her dress again,  not sure I "got it".  LOL some loved it, some hated it on twitter.

Nice tribute to ATWT. Will be missed. I watched it with my Mom back when. Michael Park's mom is a friend and I so hope he goes to another soap--I would love for him to be on OLTL!

BEST DIRECTING TEAM: General Hospital they submitted the Carnival eppy. It was a great thing to watch-- tons of fun and a locale shoot.

BEST WRITING TEAM: Bold and Beautiful. Now, GH wasn't even nominated. And the show that SHOULD have won, OLTL, wasn't nominated either..

BEST ACTOR: MICHAEL PARK..mentioned CANANDAIGUA!!!!!! wow!!! And his mom  Rosemary and I watched his very first day on the show. HOW WONDERFUL!

BEST ACTRESS MAURA WEST: She did such a CUTE thing with her daughter!! awww. I'm so happy for them.
BEST DRAMA: BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL

Since I think the Franco Gallery Opening was scrapped, and that was due to be a big part of the May story, there may be some holes to fill.  Just sayin'

I asked people on twitter this week how many watched GH at work 'via' my tweets. OMG, it was so funny. I got about 40 replies, most from people at work, some from students at college AND HS!! and also ONE teacher!! LOL. One reads my tweets on the train home and decides if they should watch on SoapNet later. I think I need some BUCKS from ABC with all this!

You saw that the Daytime Emmys will be in Vegas this year on June 27th and shown on CBS. That's great news. Although, CBS? Uh...aren't you cutting all your soaps?!

Should I mention the name that shall NOT BE MENTIONED? Vanessa Marcil's name is ALL OVER due to Guza's interview in one of the mags. I think it might be closer than ever to happening this time. Why? They need someone for Sonny and two..she needs some work. So, we'll see. I'll never say yeah or nay before it breaks again, you all know I got burned 2x on her and once on Kim McCollough! I'm still stunned Genie Francis didn't come back--and Robin Christopher is here instead. Don't get me wrong, LOVE RC...but I really thought it would be Genie.
