Gay Marriage WILL HAPPEN!
Well. I'm just going to say this: Karma's a BITCH...and I so hope people WAKE UP to the fact that gay people WILL be granted their rights someday. People will look back at us and shake their heads at the ignorance that abounds. This weekend my brother is the best man in a wedding of two people that have been together 12 years. TWELVE. NYS didn't LET IT'S PEOPLE 'VOTE' on Gay Marriage because you can't VOTE ON CIVIL RIGHTS. Period. If that were true, women would never have gotten the vote and white male owners would still run everything.
AND BTW, they are getting MARRIED IN A CHURCH. Yep. Unitarian...they and the Episcopalians do "Christ's real work" if you believe in that. They realize that people are people and deserve the respect and happiness we all take for granted.
I'm so mad. And I have to stand up at this point because it's THAT IMPORTANT!
So here's to SEAN and ERIC ...may you live long and prosper! I'm so happy for you!

Sonny and Jason = IT WILL HAPPEN!
ReplyDeleteAMEN! I agree with every single thing you wrote. It's not a matter of "IF" it will happen. It's a matter of "WHEN!"
ReplyDeleteKaren I completely agree. People use religion to justify their own prejudices.
ReplyDeleteKaren As an aside the amount of money pouring in against Mark Grisanti ( an Erie County Republican who voted to legalize) is mind-boggling.
ReplyDeleteAgree :))
ReplyDeleteI just hope it isn't going to take a war for the ignorant to be forced to see the light. So sad that this passed in NC. :(

ReplyDeleteI don't understand what is wrong with people!
ReplyDeleteI am beyond pissed at the people in North Caroline for voting for an amendment on the right of who people choose to love. At this point there hate of others will also affect civil unions and domestic partnerships of straight people….I stood out in the drizzle to vote against the amendment because I believe that all of us have the right to love whom we choose and no one has the right to tell us other wise!!!!
ReplyDeleteAdd my voice to those supporting gay marriage. As someone once said, Gays have the right to be as miserable as the rest of us!
ReplyDeleteShame on No. Carolina!

I was quite happy to see this happen. I am not gay nor am I remotely close to anyone who is, but they are human beings and deserve the same rights as we all have. People use religious and political arguments against supporting gay marriage and it's ridiculous. Don't we have separation of church and state in this country? Saying that allowing same sex marriage will ruin the sanctity of marriage is also ridiculous. The folks in Hollywood have done more to ruin the sanctity of marriage than any same sex couple ever has with their marriages that barely outlast the date on a milk carton! As far as marriage being between a man and a woman is concerned, that's subjective. The Constitution also says "all men are created equal" but I doubt our forefathers thought to include women, gay people, or people of color in that statement. The document was written by rich, white men and excluded a lot of people who were voiceless. This is why we have amendments, since our society is always evolving and changing. It is time for a change with this issue!

ReplyDeleteCosmo....LMAO!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo does this mean since Obama is 'endorsing' this law (year of election) how soon will it be before it happens??
btw..NOT knocking Obama. Love him for so many reasons...just askin...
Hopefully, this will be declared unconstitutional just like Prop 8 was in California. How can any state allow people to vote on the rights of others? Doesn't this seem wrong? if that was how it was done in the past, the only people with rights would be rich men. this whole thing is ridiculous and more than slightly ironic considering the fact that this country was founded on the ideals of equality.
