That's right...seventeen years ago today, Maurice Benard burst forth on our screen as the mobular wonder known as Sonny Corinthos.

Loved the clip! I think we'd all agree that we love Maurice, even if we might not love Sonny. He's brought a high level of great acting to GH, not to mention great dimples,lol. Mac, however,showed all the "coolness" of a PI who just graduated from PI school, argh. But...his and Felicia's flair and timing for comedy was just great! How sad we don't get much laughter out of GH anymore. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteGeez, Sonny was a slimebag from the very beginning. As I remember it, there was some question whether 'Crystal' was deliberately overdosed by Sonny or not--because she was a threat to him--she'd been a stripper there and he had more than one underage stripper. Except she was in a bad state and Stone tried to help her--but it was from her he contracted HIV. Later Sonny's involvement was downplayed. Some viewers must have gone gaga over his dimples and TPTB decided he was as bad as we knew he was.
ReplyDeleteI could never warm to him after he was introduced as this sleeze who pulled Karen in and gave her drugs to loosen her up at the pole. And seduced her. Have never liked Sonny and really, I feel he has been front and center about 10 years too long!! So weary of him by now and what all the mob stories have done to my show.
I meant the decided he WASN'T as bad as we knew he was. Sorry.

ReplyDeleteWe do NOT all love Maurice. I think he overacts and I never thought he was at all attractive. So sick of him!
ReplyDeleteMaurice not attractive???? OK, you might not like him, and he might not be your type, but, not attractive? . . . I think he's the most beautiful man I've ever seen, and all the women that I speak to, women of all ages, think the same--I've seen 20-year-olds and 85-year-olds swoon over those dimples, those beautiful brown eyes and thick black lashes, that beautiful skin, and slender, taut frame--well, you get the idea.
ReplyDeleteThe show was cool back then because M.B/Sonny was not the star of the show.And he is NOT what was good about that clip.K.W & J.J York as Mac & Felicia are the what was good about it.It makes me sad to see what they have done to Mac since then.They made the show GREAT.NOT SONNY.
