Fallout.
Nina-Sasha Story
To me, fallout is when a story line hits its mark and there is an immediate repercussion. And then months down the road, another character(s) is hit with a repercussion that was unexpected. Right now, the Nina/Sasha story line has the immediate outcome but because Sasha is with Michael, there is an outside consequence of the two of them which will happen with the baby story line.
Helena's Will
Another example is the painting of Helena. When her will was read, did anyone think that months later the painting would come back as a pivotal story line? (Even more surprising is if the writers planned this all along.)
Naturally, I asked Karen if she can think of any story line that has the MOST fallout and the MOST characters affected by it. Of course Karen stepped up to the plate and readily said...
Jason's Brain Damage from AJ's driving. (1995)
- Jason estranged himself from the Quartermaines except for Emily and Lila-changed his last name to Morgan.
- Jason didn't become the doctor he was destined to be. Instead of saving lives, he took lives
- AJ never recovered from causing the accident (no one let him forget it either) and he took up drinking, snarky behavior and made a series of bad choices.
- Monica lost her Jason to the windshield and AJ to the hands of Sonny, who forever hated him for numerous reasons--including the fact that Michael was his biological father. Would Sonny ever have gotten near Carly if not for Jason?
- Michael--raised by Jason. Jason would have been busy at GH an would have had no time for that nonsense.
- Bodies in the Pine Barons: May have been alive if not for Jason killing them. Yes, Sonny would have had another Number One but it wouldn't have been Jason.
- Lastly, the wardrobe department needed to order 600 black tshirts, still used to this day.
Of course, given the rich history of soaps, quite a few stories
could be said to have caused "fallout". What are yours?

So,Mon testified that DNA doesn't make us who we are but our neurological system does. Ok,so say Kim & Frankendrew have a baby. Wouldn't it be biologically Francos? I mean they can make all the memories ect,ect with the child but biologically the child will more than likely have Francos eyes,ears,smile,mannerisms? I mean of course he and or she would inherit some things from Kim too but he/she would have ZERO connection to Drew. Am I right? I don't know I'm not a doctor so I'm just wondering out loud.

Oh good point Di! Yeah,I love Trina and in some ways Ava's growing on me. I liked their interaction today. It was sweet what Trina said to Ava about all the gossip and stuff.
DeleteFranco is Franco because his DNA, fingerprints, looks, and family and friends say so. He had memories planted into his head. This is not a case of someone having a medical situation changing DNA. This is like an amnesia case where the person doesn't know who they are but everyone else knows who they are. Kim and Monica are both desperately grasping to hold onto any part of the original Andrew Cain.

This is why this storyline is wrong on so many levels. With Kim leaving, they need to end it soon and have Franco become Franco again.
I thought Scotty was going there when he was referencing Cam & Oscar comparison. But that would've been really over the line!! But I've thought the same thing Dave!! Yeew,ick!!

DeleteAva and Trina for the win today! How refreshing to see the old Ava...the happy,smiling, fun Ava. Very nice chemistry with them as mother-daughter type friends. This is exactly what Ava needs to get her out of her funk....and get her daughter back from that sanctimonious ass Sonny. Haa!! I even enjoyed Hayden and Finn. Very nice convo with them.

I hope we get to see more scenes of them in the gallery and that this was not just a one shot deal. I'm not a Hayden fan at all but the scenes with her and Finn had me tearing up like Sonia below. Lol!

ReplyDeleteHahaha. They don't plan things far ahead!! Back in the day the writers did. There was always a beginning, middle and end.. Now, yeah no.
I know right! Ava was telling Trina how the artist loved to paint puzzles into his paintings and she and Kiki would try to figure them out together. It was kinda bittersweet.
DeleteCam had me boo-hooing too. I loved when he chased Jason down in the hallway and let him have it. :) I want to see Kim lose it on the stand today about her drugging Drew, and it better be the opening scene today. I want the Port Chuckles world to know she's a looney-tune! Lol!

I am really starting to like Ava too. Even Trina...I had to warm to her and have. She's a good friend to Cam.

ReplyDeleteLoved yesterday's episode! Trina and Ava were great! Dev....lol! Michael Easton had me near tears. He was so good, I'm so glad they gave his character a daughter. ❤ Loved Scotty. Monica gah! Can Kim just be gone and Franco be himself already I'm impatient...poor Cam. Poor Liz.
