Sunday Surgery: Father?

Some weeks are easier than others to write about. This is one that's going to be on the more difficult side. Why? Most of the week was narrative and just plain plodding along. I"m going to cheat a bit and just hit the "need to know" highlights. It IS Father's Day and I have people coming over !! 

Grab some BBQ and sit on down! Time to GO GO! 

THAT WILLOW INCIDENT: I'm not sure why this lasted the better part of 3-4 days but we had to listen to Willow complain about Tracey, Tracey complain about Willow, Chase getting reamed out by the DA and Brook running around with her squinched face. What should have been a small happening just took up SO much time. Upshot? Willow didn't press charges. ADA is big-suspicious of Chases' every move. There ya go. 

VAL'S GOODBYE: In our first soft-porn scene in quite some time, Valentin and Carly say their farewell as he goes off to turn himself into the WSB. Months of Val in the Attic is coming to an end and I for one am happy. Cullum searched for him (not sure if he did any DNA testing because it would be ALLLLLL OVAH that place!!) and left. Carly goes to Brennan who basically tells her that Anna is Valentin's "person" and to get ready to get dumped. Carly can't believe it. He's her Jason, Carly-- sorry about that! 

EZRA GETS DUPED: Sidwell pulls a fast one and mirrors Jacinda's phone so he can pop in on Ezra. I know this is a soap--and I know we have to suspend everything we know about technology but FACIAL RECOGNITION EXISTS. Sidwell just going around looking like Sidwell is lazy. I personally like the character but come on...try a bit harder. 

BODEGA: I just like that word. So, Britt faints somewhere in the Virgin Islands and Rocco needs to make a decision. He calls Charlotte and tells her to get Cassius to get Britt's drug. Meanwhile we find out that her syringe only contained saline which leads the audience to say: WE KNEW IT ALL ALONG! Britt does not have Huntington's! So there ya go. Why did she faint and feel like she did? FB has rumors she's pregnant. That had better NOT be true. GH has more babies and young kids than Romper Room and doesn't need anymore. I'm going with a tropical disease. 

CASSIUS, THE GOOD GUY: So much for the character of "Nathan/Cassius' being so different than Nathan. Um, he's not. He loves James, feels bad about everything, is trying to save Joss' life every other week and now goes to Dante and Lulu to blow in his sister's location. I think Lulu and Dante needed an adventure, am I right? Maybe Cassius knows that Britt doesn't have Huntington's too? He was the one sending her the shots way back when. 

SOAPY 101: What would a good daytime drama do without a good ol' DNA switch? Yep. Ethan was going into the cold case files to steal some DNA to switch when he went in to get swabbed. Only problem is? We never heard he was going to be tested. We all knew he had to be but not once did Alexis say: you have to get a swab done at GH. So, when he showed up for an "appointment" with Elizabeth I sat there thinking: did I miss a day--AGAIN? So weird. She gets called out of the room and he casually pulls out a dupe test tube and switches it. Don't even ask me how he would have done that if she didn't leave the room. :eyeroll: So.. there it is. Ethan ISN'T the baby daddy and we will have months, if not a year to have that going on. *sigh* 

POOL PARTY FUN: One of the more enjoyable bits was Ric and Alexis planning Molly's book launch party and her reaction. NLG and RH had a great time filming all of this, I'm sure!! There's only one problem: THAT'S WHERE MOLLY'S BABY DIED. Like hello, trauma city much? I guess they are eager to use that set but--damn, at least move it to the patio. 

BORING McBORINGSONS: Oh help me with this. Emma and Gio held such promise. WHY aren't they knee deep in this Rocco story?? WHY?? They are instead, cooing on babies and talking about his music career.  They were in on the whole Dalton thing and sure could have been front and center with Anna being Emma's grandma but..nope. So so boring. 

RANDO: Yuri just appeared as if he's been at the Q's the entire time. He wasn't even around for Monica's funeral but he was there to get Willow tea!! Hey! 

SCENE OF THE WEEK:  Tracey and Brook talking about Brook's bowing to Willow and Chase. It was awesome dialog and would really really have it home if we didn't know Brook was quietly sabotaging Willow with fake GPS evidence. Why would she tell Lucy and NOT Tracey? Tracey would give her a damn medal for doing that. 

PROPS OF THE WEEK: I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the graphic art that was displayed during the Ava/Trina scenes. Seems like the production crew surprised director "Didy" with her own portrait gallery! There's a fun IG up on GH's account that shows her reaction. You know I was wondering what was up with that! 

WEEK IN A WUBSHELL: 

New pop-up coffee clutch set seen! I wouldn't be me if I didn't mention this. It's ripe to look down on people and spy--it's also right there for someone to plunge off the balcony! 

Brennan continues to 'wake up' from his dosage but Drew? Strangely, still locked in

Scout fell out of a tree sneaking out of the house. 

Portia and Curtis exhaustion. 

Trina's going to tell her parents to back out of her life

Ethan switches his DNA with mysterious cold-case file evidence

Alexis and Ric plan Molly's book launch party

Britt faints, Rocco reaches out for help and Cassius tells his parents where they are

Sidwell threatens Ezra

Not sure what's going on in the chamber of doom but I'm guessing Dr O is working hard

Valentin leaves to turn himself in; Cullum's search for him at Carly's turns up nothing

Jordan needs a fresh start and it's not being deputy mayor again

Ava is summoned by Ethan to do see Sonny

MISSING IN ACTION:  Ned, Olivia-- almost every kid on the show, Spinelli (they call Brick instead), BRAD, Mac and on and on. The fact that the kids are just never seen is baffling. Leo's not even mentioned anymore. Sidwell's taken care of but no mention of Kevin bringing Ace home (which is fine in my book but hey...). Liz has ZERO kids on screen and Aiden seems to have evaporated into thin air. At least Jake and Cam have some kind of explanation going on. (although they never even visit!). Scout's going to be SORA'd but how about getting Aiden in there too? 

NEWBIE INVASION: Just going to mention that so far for me, Joe is a nothing burger. Coming on soon are 3 more contract players to be: Serena Baldwin, shady business man Hudson and then Tristan Roberts. *sigh* 


                                    

COMING BACK: Finola Hughes comes back next week and Steve Burton won't be too far behind. I'm glad Anna will be back but spoilers say "Jason will be a changed man". Ok, I'll believe it when I see it. I think we heard that a million times before. Marshall will make one of his appearances as well. You'd think with all the summer jazz fests around, he'd be busy!

Ok that's about it. While GH continues to serve up some great individual scenes, the glue I need to hold it all together is sadly lacking at the moment. I'm sure it will get better with the Rocco/Britt rescue and Anna coming home. I'm hoping Portia just has that baby like TOMORROW because I'm over that whole thing.
