Sunday Surgery: Surprise!! You're Goin' To Jail

 

I have to admit something! I usually take notes during the week to help me write this Sunday blog and I totally failed to do it!! Not sure what that will mean but buckle-up!! A lot to talk about and unpack as another story is ramping up full speed ahead. 

I'm wondering if anyone will recognize the title this week from Reels. I love that guy. 

Ok, grab some chow and settle in!! Let's GO GO! 

THE SHOOTING SAGA PROGRESS: GH has a fun way of ebbing and flowing it's stories. Ok, not so funny but you know what I mean. One day you're knee deep in an unsolved Austin murder and the next? Who knows where. We are still dealing with "WHO SHOT DREW" and the fallout around that. Drew has become even nastier and more isolate. I'm seeing zero...and I mean NEGATIVE range of any inkling of humanity in this guy. I guess the interesting thing now is did Michael frame Willow or did Willow shoot him herself and then Michael just re-plant the evidence? Best surprise this week was Willow standing in The Metro watching Jacinda, Michael and Wiley. Their exchange was brilliant (mostly due to Rory's slow burns). I'm thinking the peak for the reveal would have been a few weeks ago right after the gun reveal but what do I know? Let's also mention Michael's plan to thwart Nina with her: OMG you are WITH A CALL GIRL nonsense. Loved it. 

SAVE NEDLY!  In another surprise (for me) was when Ned had a heart attack after having a BLT and nice chat with Gio. He was feeling uncomfortable and then Drew basically sent him into a full blown attack. Drew-- who thought Ned was faking it "like the other Quartermaines" ..left and didn't look back. Gio and Emma came out and Gio gave CPR while Emma got Britt. Ned was taken to the hospital and all the cast gathered around to hear he had a 'widow maker' and needed a bypass. Who's missing? His Mom because she's in France for a much needed vacation (You know Jane Elliot needed one!). Did anyone call her? No idea. No idea if anyone called Lois either. You know what else we didn't know? He went into surgery and... and.. NOTHING!! It was the next day when we started Friday's show and not one word about Ned. VERY strange. Like, you couldn't even have a hospital scene saying something about him? Nah, it was on to the next big story which was: 

KIDDIE CAPER: Everyone dropped everything because Rocco was caught in the PCU lab. Rocco sacrificed himself for Charlotte and Danny, letting them get away while he was hauled off to his grandmother at the debate. Good timing because Ezra pounced and had the police right there. They found the key fob (Didn't Charlotte have it? She opened the door?) and took him to the station. Laura argued with Dalton. Next up everyone was falling all over themselves to help Rocco and reassure him he'd be ok. Dante was pissed for a minute but seemed to recover enough to support him in court. 

CAPER FALLOUT: What happened? Well, Ric finally got a chance with Sonny (maybe because Carolyn Hennesy broke her leg) and was representing Rocco. Great brother scene. Love Rick and Mo together. Ric reached an agreement with the ADA to give Rocco community service and was all smiles at the hearing. Guess what. Even after Sidwell told him to back the F off, Dalton went in and showed her 'photos' and evidence there was vandalism done. Um.. what? Wouldn't he have had the police go and take photos THAT NIGHT? I guess not because, she bought it and now Rocco is in jail waiting for bail and a trial date. Everyone is AGHAST. Open mouths all around. My question is: WHY in the heck would Dalton defy Sidwell to get some kind of 'revenge' to the Mayor? Because she yelled at him? It made a great shocker of a moment but makes no sense. Unless he's angry with Britt because she's now his boss and she told him to lay off of Rocco? What do you think?

PCPD GETS BETTER LOOKIN' : Oh lah lah!! We found out Dante is acting commish while Anna's doing her "WSB" assignment (LOL) and he got Nathan back on the force. Now, Chase and Nathan are partners and it looks like Hollywood all the time in the squad room. It's funny because when JS was hired it was like they were trying to clone a Nathan look alike. Welp. Now we can see them together. 

SHE'S STILL PREGNANT: Yep, Portia is still pregnant and Stella figured it out. She had an absolute attack when Curtis said they were divorcing. I felt transported back to the 60's when she said he should stay for the child. I get it, Stella is a traditionalist but geesh!! Previews indicate he actually goes to Portia and floats the idea. Let's hope she tells him a resounding NOPE and that's that. Then again, when it's found out the baby is Isaiah's it won't be as soapy. Yes, I'm 99% sure the baby HAS to be his. Soap 101.  WARDROBE SHOUT OUT: OMG, Stella's outfit was so gorgeous. Eileen Fisher? Soft Surroundings? It was just so perfect. 

MOVING IN:  I'm mentioning the moving into Wyndemere because I think it's important. So many people are against this (online I mean) but I like the idea of Lucas being on that island in the middle of intrigue. Better than having him NOT on my screen. If Brad makes it back, all the better. VH is a great actor and will add another layer to the "lab" story. I'm here for it. Carly was not! She went OFF on him in Bobbie's. Joss sat there like a bird, swiveling her head back and forth. Carly's also pissed at HER for not backing mama up. Oh well, a WSB agent has to do what they have to do. On a side note: I also think they are slowly bringing Ava into this as well. Loved when Lucas went to her and said thank you for your support and they hugged. Gah. Maybe she'll be Sidwell's lady for awhile. She always did look good in that castle! 

HONORABLE MENTION SCENE: I want to mention the Trina/Jordan scene because I thought it was excellent. TA has really, really grown as an actress and when she laid into Jordan, it was perfection. What could have made it better? Jordan thinking Trina knew about the baby and mentioning it. I would have been RIGHT THERE for that!! 

FACES OF THE WEEK: (remember when this was a highlight!!?) Lulu and Dante react to Rocco being caught in the PCU lab. Heh. 

KUDOS TO: Finn Carr who plays Rocco. He did a brilliant job conveying anxiety and fear this week. He's come a long way and is doing really nice work. 

WEEK IN A WUBSHELL: 

The mayoral debate got interrupted by Rocco's arrest

Ezra Boyle showed up for the first time in months

Stella told Curtis to not get a divorce and think of the baby 

Sonny and Ric reach a tentative truce: Ric will represent Rocco

Sidwell tells Dalton to not press charges against Rocco

Dalton then manufactures evidence that Rocco vandalized the lab

Rocco has to go to jail until bail is set 

Ned was rushed to GH and had to have a bypass. No word on his condition. 

Britt and Gio are credited for saving Ned's life

Gio is having guilt over Rocco getting caught; so is Emma 

Lucas is moving into Wyndemere

Nathan is back on the force 

Dante is acting Commissioner while Anna is 'away'

Trina lays into Jordan for breaking up her parents marriage

Willow is out on bail and sees Michael with Jacinda, prompting a melt-down

So, there you have it. I am really liking the way GH is weaving it's stories together now and using so much of the cast. We've had more group scenes than ever lately!! Especially around the Q clan. The teens are getting into the Lab Story and Lucas is moving into the heart of the action. Ric and Sonny might be at least in some scenes together so that's a win/win. Yes, GH has holes and things move at a strange pace sometimes. The non-Ned follow-up was really glaring. They also could have explained they called Tracey and she's on her way back. That stupid vote on the pier better happen ASAP by the way. It's just so tedious. All in all I give the show a solid B+ for last week. 

LATE EDIT: Genie Francis sits down with Maurce Benard on his State of Mind YouTube series. She says a lot of things about her story with him and it's a great show and read on The New York Post.
