Kirsten Storms Battles Endometriosis

Last night on Dirty Soap, Kirsten's illness was finally revealed. She's battling the painful disease of Endometriosis, which can be crippling and painful. I had a very small case of it and it was bad enough, I can't imagine having a severe bout with the disease. Good wishes go out to her!! Kelly Monaco said to send her cards at the studio in care of her and she promises to get them to Kirsten.

  1. I haven't watched the soap yet.....
Isn't that about cramping & bleeding?

  2. yes, it's scar tissue growing rampant in your body..it can be quite nasty. Some have to have everything removed in advanced cases.

  5. Endometriosis is when the endometrial tissue grows in places other than the uterus. It is affected by the menstrual cycle like the tissue in the uterus but it has nowhere to go, it builds up adhesions, scar tissue and cysts. I had two softball sized cysts that cost me an ovary, fallopian tube and appendix. It can be very painful.

  6. I honestly don't know how I missed the identification of her illness while watching Dirty Soap last night... Did Tiffany end up telling Farah or did I just seriously miss something?

At any rate, I am so sorry to hear that she's going through this. I had a scare with it earlier this year that landed me in the hospital and when you find yourself first trying to figure out how to control it, or how much of your internal organs you are willing to part with, it can be absolutely terrifying and overwhelming. It sounds like she must be going with surgery, since they've put a time stamp on her return? She is so young, I hate that she is going through this - not to mention all the rehab rumors she endured waiting for the truth to get out. My heart goes out to her. <3

  7. Suck it to all the haters that claimed they knew for sure it was rehab. We love you Kirsten!

  8. Ritapita--And we all deserve it too! I was so wrong....

  9. Tina....very admiral that you 'owned up' to what you said. Not many people do..lol

However, I never for a minute thought she was in a rehab.
Wasn't even a consideration. I thought it was more a 'planned' time off...but NOT rehab.

  14. I thought it was going to be an eating disorder as well.

I've been battling this disease for almost 20 years now, my case is mild and it's incredibly painful. I'm lucky to have only lost an ovary, many women lose everything and face infertility. Best of luck to Kirsten, she has a long road ahead :(

  15. I watched Dirty last night.
I don't get how if she was so sick, as close as she is with KM, she didn't discuss with her...

    Publicity stunt??

Farah came across as compassionate. That was surprising.

  16. Oops when I said it sounds really really painful, I just got done reading the link that Karen put up on her blog about Endometriosis. Poor Kirsten. :(

  17. My heart goes out to Kirsten. I had this condition as well. When I was 28 years old, I had to have a hysterectomy.

That was 26 years ago, but it still remains in my mind like it was yesterday. It can be a long recovery. I wish her well. God Bless ^l^

  18. I hope and pray that Kirsten starts feeling better soon!! I dealt with endo for years, and after 3 scopes and 1 major surgery I finally ended up having a hysterectomy at the age of 35. It is treatable but can be very frustrating. Hang in there Kirsten!

  19. I have been battling endometriosis since about 1995 (at 25 which is not usually young for this type of problem if you know anything about it) and my case is also considered mild but very painful at times. I had an outpatient surgery in 1998 where they burned out the scar tissue (they actually showed me my own pictures of it after!) After the surgery the pain came back within 5 years as they say it does, but I was still able to have a child,a daughter born in 2002. Ironically, the severe cases usually don't have the pain that the mild cases do,but severe cases are the ones associated with sterility. In 2009 I had a miscarriage and I am going to be 40 in March so I don't know if I will be able to have another child. In suffering from this disease though, I am grateful to have one. They tell me I need surgery again so who knows what will be in store, but I wish Kirsten all the best, I love GH,out of every single show out there today,it's still my favorite and Kirsten is one of my favorites on there. I know what this can be like so I hope she feels relief soon, physically and emotionally.

  20. I suffered for 13 years with this illness. (17 to 31 )

Doctors thought I was nuts, making up my this illness.

    Thanks to technology.

Didn't think I would ever be able to conceive, especilly years later living with this illness.

. Day at a time, relaxing, being positive, forgetting about the surgery, living life and than:

    Surprise, Surprise !!!

    A beautiful baby girl, now 25 .

    Everything will be okay.

    Keep in good spirits.

You have all the love and support from your family, friends and fans.

  22. I have a friend with this condition, and I know how it can really affect your life. But I know it can also be controlled, and I so hope they get it under control for Kirsten.

  23. Someone said it's scar tissue - that is incorrect. (Why doesn't anyone do research first?) Endometriosis is actually when cells from the lining of the uterus grow in other areas of the body. The first post got part of it right, it can cause irregular bleeding and terrible cramping. I imagine she is having surgery to correct it. I sure hope so, as it is a terribly painful condition and can make it very hard to have babies. I have lived with fibroid tumors all of my adult life which is insanely painful, but i think endo is even worse - but more treatable. LOADS of good thoughts for Kirsten!! I'll be glad to have her back on GH! :)

  24. Endometriosis does cause scar tissue. That is what adhesions are and no it is not easily fixed. You can have a hysterectomy but not if you still want children. Alot of people have no idea how painful this disease can be both physically and emotionally. I have dealt with it for a long time and it is no fun. I wish her all the best.

  26. I have endometriosis. I want you all to know I have the sever case of it. I have to get shots of birth control every three mths to put me in a menapause state. Take the pain of child birth anytime over it. I get the flu everytime my period comes around. I have cramping throughout my back and chills all over my body. i was very moody and depressed.I would go off at the drop of a dime. I have about 5 years of good time left to have a baby and then i am recommended to put my eggs away if I dont find someone soon. I am only 30 years old. I gained weight of 50lbs after. I am on 10 different pills for things on top of things from the symptoms of endo. I am feeling better now that I had cells removed. But I might have to have surgery every year to remove them. Sometimes im laying in bed watching life pass me and thinking god I wish i could be outside with my son. But atleast I have him and i have the chance with everything they are doing to help me!! cramping and bleeding are just minor symptoms of this disease . .. leticia pena

  27. I suffered from this disease my entire life. It left me childless. The scar tissue compacted my fallopian tubes and one of my ovaries burst causing me to have an emergency hysterectomy at 52. My heart goes out to her as well my best and most sincere wishes for a speedy recovery.

  28. WOW, This is very painfull. I have had it all my life and my Mother had it and my 3 sisters have it. When you are in pain (NO PAIN MEDICATION GETS RID OF THAT AWFUL PAIN) after the tissue dies off it turns to Adhssions. There is no end. Mine went to my bowels and I have had 8 surgerys.
I hope this is all she is dealing with. IVY Campbell

  29. i agree with my2cents2 all of u who judged kirsten should be ashamed of urselves and seriously rite her a letter of apology. I mean think if u were in the public eye and u werent doing any of the things u all had accused her of how would u feel u all spread lies and rumors that arent justified. what is wrong with people these days

  30. im 20 years old and have dealt with this my entire life all she needs to do is get a script for ibprohen 500 milgrams and it slows the bleeding and makes the cramps easier to deal with or just go on birth control or have her tubes tied. with modern technology its an easy fix.

    ReplyDelete
  31. endo is not an easy fix. ibuprofen is motrin, you dont need a prescription for it, it is over the counter, just take 3-4 200 mg tablets and that gives u a script dose. but motrin usually doesnt cut the pain. stronger pain meds are needed. along w a whole line of other meds, laproscopic abdominal surgery and biopsies are needed to get a diagnosis. it is a horrible disease, very painful, and can knock you out of a normal life. just look it up on computer to get the facts. my heart goes out to anyone who has it. think about being 20 yrs old. having it for 2 yrs, on treatment continually, 3 surgeries, bed bound, unable to work or go to school. and a hysterectomy does not cure it. 40% who have hysterectomy have recurrent disease and pain. it is cells in the wrong part of your pelvic cavity. they bleed, cause pain, scare, make adhesions, cysts, varicose veins in your pelvis. my daughter is 20, and is going thru hell w it. if you have a daughter that is suffering from vague abd pains, painful periods, or pains in abdomen even before she starts her periods, demand that she gets checked for this disease. it can happen at young age. just look it up on computer to get the correct information. and then you have to find a doctor who will listen and not write you off as crazy or drug seeking. many times irritable bowel syndrome, and interstitial cystitis (painful bladder syndrome) can go along w endometriosis.

  36. I was diagnosed with endometriosis 11 years ago and have had 3 laparoscopies thus far. I am still struggling to concieve and also suffer with very bad cramps. But seriously now...it is not as dramatic a disease as it was made out to be on dirty soap with Kirsten. Americans can be so over dramatic!!!
