It's Official: Kim McCollough is OUT at GH

 FROM SOD:
GH’S McCULLOUGH LEAVING: It’s true: GH’s Kimberly McCullough (Robin) is exiting Port Charles, but will air into the early months of 2012. “Kimberly McCullough has decided to pursue her dream of directing full-time, so she has decided to leave GENERAL HOSPITAL as storyline dictates,” says a show spokesperson. “Expect a poignant and must watch storyline for Robin and Patrick.” This announcement comes hot on the heels of the news that Jonathan Jackson (Lucky) has also opted out.

  1. The thought is to painful for me to even read about. If Patrick isn't going with her they better kill her. It will be painful but Robin would never abandon Emma for any reason.

  2. Wow. Poignant story must mean they are killing her off, right along with GH itself. How sad.

  3. I hope they do not kill her off! The show is ending, which is bad enough. We need our happy ending too! That would be Robin and Patrick off somewhere furthering their carrears at a big medical institution. Instead, she will have the quickest death from AIDS ever seen on TV. I want to stay with the show until the last episode next year, but I don't know if I can.

  4. I knew this was coming, there is just no reason for her to stay. I wonder if their insistence on going forward with the misguided Lisa / HIV threat storyline helped push her out the door? I know she wasn't happy about that. What's more sad is that we are likely to get a whole new mess of an HIV storyline out of this. I always thought I'd never forget the Robin/Stone saga, and the beauty of how well it was done, but if anything can mess with my memory of that it's going to be seeing how they (inevitably) mishandle her departure.

Robin's exit marks the exit of the last character who I was attached to when growing up with this show. I am very sad about this news. =(

  5. I heard Robin gets sick and Patrick gets shot protecting her. None of it sounds good. Not surprising , as it was rumored a shile back that she was leaving. I think more announcements of cast members leaving are to come.

  6. Killing off Robin would be the worst thing they could do - she is a freaking legacy character that a lot of people feel protective of since she started on the show as a kid during its glory years.
Of course, they already killed off Rick and Georgie and for awhile Robert and Anna, so I guess nothing is beyond the pale for this crappy writing team.
So depressing...If this pans out like I think it will, I am done with GH. Been watching here since I was a kid during the Ice Princess storyline.

  7. Hmm interesting and they better not kill her off. A secret part of me wishes Greg Vaughan was still playing Lucky -- I always thought a Spenser/Scorpio grandbaby would be great and they could leave together to take the baby to Australia. HA HA we can always dream.

  8. Glad she is abandoning this sinking ship! Frons' view is to load the show with 20-maybe early 30 something
models/maybe porn soft porn stars, get rid of vets, give jasam their golden child, and end the show soprano style. Wow, can't wait for more ABC shows to tank. Can't stand him or Disney.

  10. Adora I totally agree with you, Kim & Robin are my last attachments to this show, too. If they kill her off I think that will be the end for me. I just can't see this being handled well, and both the character and actress deserve more than a crappy exit.

  11. I guess the "Love never dies" fortune cookie meant something after all. I was thinking Kim may be one of the ladies possibly leaving. GH news just gets worse and worse by the day...very depressing. They don't seem to be giving Jon Jackson an exit story. I am not sure what's planned for Kim, but Robin's been on this show since she was a little girl. Her exit is going to upset so many already disgruntled viewers. I get the feeling this is not the last of the exits either. Another nail in the GH coffin.

  12. Man, the "rats" really are abandoning the sinking ship, aren't they?

  13. Not rats Anon smart folks who know when to get the crap out.

  14. Sad to see her go..Kind of hoping Robin/Patrick ride off together(maybe something to do with those trips?)

I'm sure the Lexi firing certainly helped move things along

  15. Well, what are we supposed to do now, stay with the sinking ship while they break our hearts piece by piece, or run for the hills? This show has been a part of my life for so long, I first started watching in the Jessie/Steve/Lucille/Al days, my family laughs endlessly at Jessie and her sweater, I have grown up with this show.

Each time I hear of another beloved vet leaving I want to leave also, then I think of the beloved vets who are still there, and I end up staying on. I don't know how much more of this I can take.

  17. Nothing on Jason Thompson going.

  18. JJ and KM - almost too much for me to take. And knowing there will be nothing for them to ever come back to is even worse. Soapnet is doing 5 classic Lucky episodes Friday evening. Losing two of my favorite actors/characters is really sad, and I'm sure they won't be the last.

  19. wasn't one of the spoilers that Robin gets results? please tell me she is not getting AIDS--and if she does, please tell me that they'll do the storyline right.

  20. Sad news, grew up with these characters and kim's been there since she was little. The end is near for GH .

  21. Very sad to see her go! Her character was such an integral part of this show. Just sad they didn't utilize her the way she should have been.

I've said it before, but I'm just feeling like I did back in the mid to late 90's when there was a mass exodus of great actors and their all too important alter egos to the canvas.
I hope her storyline is worthy of this character and not a total hack job.
I'm just wondering who's next to go??

  22. I hope she and Patrick and Emma go to Paris....No more death.....

  23. I am really disappointed in the departures of Robin and Lucky. But in both cases, I understand it was their decision. Kim has made no secret of the fact that she wants to direct and JJ's band is doing a great job right now. Watched them both grow up on the show and I am a big fan of both. Best wishes to them and bright hopes for the future.
Maybe this is why the sudden influx of newbies because the head honchos knew that these two were on their way out.
On another note, how is Kirsten Storms doing and when will she get back?
