WOW... General Hospital Back-Lash-O-Rama!!

WHAT DRAMA! I happened to RT a tweet about someone who deleted GH from their DVR and about 30 people responded in like 7 minutes!!! Look at this:

@WubsNet I have never been as angry and disgusted with #GH as I am right now. I refuse to watch.

@WubsNet I've been watching #GH all my life bc my mom watched it. I feel like it is part of my childhood & I can't watch it w/ this writing

@WubsNet I'm done watching GH, I've had it not one spoiler in the bunch that sounds good at all, lol.

@WubsNet #gh has the best actors and the absolute worst storylines.i just read the Fairman article with Genie, another example!!

@WubsNet Off mine for a week. Breaking the habit is easy Looking 4ward to GF on #YR & RH on #OLTL. No one I care 4 gets airtime

@WubsNet this needs to be Guza LAST storyline...

@WubsNet took #GH off put #OLTL ON!!!

@WubsNet My mom who has watched since #GH BEGAN took it off her DVR today! She called me crying, needing to know how to do it :(

@WubsNet not me! Can't do it...won't do it, invested 20 years I can't get back.I'll see it through..if Guza stays it might not be long #GH

@WubsNet I'm with @jflowlu . I just can't watch anymore. #GH #FireFrons #FireGuza@WubsNet I took

#GH off DVR last year when Leslie Charleson was released. Did something else happen today? #FireFrons

@WubsNet not ready to call it quits since it's the only soap I watch. But today it was like #ambien! Could. not.stay. awake!!

@WubsNet The best thing about #GH right now is that we have Fan Fic's to read that are better then what the writers on #GH could ever do!

@WubsNet I'm @ a BB game but I'll weigh in real quick, I'm a 35yr viewer who took it off the DVR and will not watch the Garbage that is #GH

and this:  (only one of 2 positive ones!!)

@WubsNet I would never take #GH off my DVR...I love the show even when there are storylines I'm not as excited about.

There are no words. I put the spoilers up today and was SO undewhelmed--they are so boring. Then, the spate of Genie Francis interviews came out where she basically said that GH dissed her about coming back. She basically said that they wouldn't write for a grown-up Laura. Sad. Sad. Of course the writing for the Jake story did it for a lot of fans. What say You? Do you still have GH on your DVR or do you catch it now and then? Do you watch live? Do you care anymore!!?

I continue to watch daily but via vcr...I fastfoward more than i watch but i hope to see Spinelli daily so i keep trying to support. I've been watching over 30 years so i have a lot invested. Im writing letters as often as i can to those above Guza and Frons to help get the point across a change needs to be made to save the show.

Thank you for speaking out for the viewers, I will add myself to the list of fans that are no longer watching this mess of a show.
Disgusting and disturbing are two words I use to describe GH now. I used to love this show.

Hi. I am also a long-time fan of GH. There have been other times / storylines that have made me ask what are they (ABD, TPTB and the writers) thinking....but I had not been so disheartened and disappointed in the show before.

I stopped consistently watching in 2008 but have watched off and on for the last two years...I don't think I will again unless things seriously change over at GH.

Its not even about certain fanbases, couples or characters; the show as a whole is contrived, boring and sad. The agenda is so blatantly obvious.

Please bring back the romance, love, drama that GH once had..stop destroying long-loved characters.

It's a shame what GH has become a former shell of itself. Frons/Phelps/Guza is slowly killing this soap with their blatant personal agenda. The Jake death storyline & this replacement baby story is the straw that broke the camel's back for many. Good luck GH/ABC/Disney with your agenda.

Disgusting, disturbing I'll go with that and up you agenda driven and nauseating...fire ALL the higher ups and start again...

quit watching dec.2008, after liason ended. I do not have a problem with most of the actors ,its the writing.also the lead females(carly and sam) their only purpose is to be annoying and follow their men like puppies. they do not even write for women. how can anyone like GH anymore?

Anonymous said...

i cant do it anymore. its just to hard to get through! i love the actors and just wish they could be given better stories. I finished watching gh the moment they made jake's death about michael.

It's weird I stopped watching the end of '08 but kept it on my DVR but didn't watch except twice after that both were Liason scenes kelly's and the carnival-the others were deleted w/o watching.
Moved about a yr ago and never put it back on my DVR-now I only have Y&R which I watched today and there was Tristan Rogers, he is a damned good actor and he joined Steven Nichols there and now GF, if only BH had gone there.
GH = poor writing and direction and the follow thru on s/l is atrocious.
No rootable couples and the current s/l sucks which is sad considering Gh has some really good actors like Becky, Tonny and JJ as well as LW and SBu at times.
If their object is to get rid of soaps they are doing a fine job.

I'm so frustrated. The show is being slowly decimated, and this stuff with Jake is too painful. It's an awful story. I can't believe they did that to a child character with so much potential. The storyline decisions being made make no sense. The show is dark, disturbing, violent, and zero fun.

JennyPink said...

I removed it too about a month ago. And now with the disrespect given to the Jake story line I can't even watch in passing. I've been watching OLTL religiously and am amazed at how much they do with just words & actors. No gimmicks, no explosions, just classic soap storylines. Love it! And now that Roger Howarth is coming back... hold onto your seats it's about to get good!

Anonymous said...

I took it off my DVR and I unlike it on facebook. Im done. I want the big heads to see that they need to let go certain people and hire real people that care about the fans. Its been one stupid storyline after other and I have lost hope. I only check your site to see if the people behind this tragic show are gone because when they are.... I WILL COME BACK.

And what makes me sick is that I hear jasam is gonna try to have a baby? are you kidding me? That makes me hate sam. Right now is not the time to try and have a baby.

I'm a bit annoyed with Lucky constantly accusing Luke, and I don't understand where Ethan is. I also don't understand the odd pic on this post, but then I'm old and not the least bit up to date.

I have been watching GH 25 years, and am now finished. The Jake story put me over the edge and now Brenda getting a child is just wrong.

Anonymous said...

I'm done with GH. Watched 20+ years, until recently. This botched job on the Jake storyline, which had no buildup, no time for viewers to get invested like BJ/Maxie, yet we get months of boring Dante,Brenda,Balkan crap? Really GH? Then add to the fact that Jake was killed off to give Jason insight to have a kid with Sam and talk about it before Jake is cold. Really GH? didn't Liz tell you what Sonny said, almost verbatim, that love isn't safe and the only thing you can do as parents is love them? Didn't you and liz come to this understanding, get engaged, only for you to walk away after going into gory detail about what could have happened to Jake after the Russians got him? Yeah thought so. But we're not supposed to remember that. Now suddenly, what could have been a charred little body drug out of that house where the russians had Jake doesn't mean anything, nor does the year Michael spent in a coma, which ended Liz and Jason's engagement. I guess suddenly, it's perfectly acceptable for Jason to have a kid to "replace" jake, since Sam has no issues about her own safety, so why the hell would she care about a kids? SMDH Bring back Liason. Show them grieving together. Talk about agenda. Frons is going to sink it with his.

JR said...

I took GH off my DVR in 08 when they screwed over Jason and Liz for the farce we see now. I no longer recognize or even like characters, I once loved. They have been written so OOC that they are not the characters I have watched for as long as most have been on the show. I detest what those idiots in charge have done to this once great show. I watch Y&R now and won't return to GH unless they get rid of the blight that is killing the show, namely FRONS!

Anonymous said...

Its gone. Because of your accolades, I now watch OLTL, which is so AMAZING!

Ladydeck said...

I still have it on my dvr, but I only watch it once every couple of weeks when I hear about something that I want to see. I miss it, but I have lost interest in most of the current stories/characters. I wish they would make some major changes quickly and that does NOT mean firing vets!

Anonymous said...

I stopped watching GH a couple of years ago and only recently came back because I am a huge S&B fan and heard VM was coming back. It's been really hard for me to watch this show though. I did enjoy the S&B moments but overall the show blows chunks. The Jake storyline is a travesty and for the life of me I cannot fathom why they would get rid of the child of a couple that has SO many connections on the canvas. So much potential...wasted. Not only that but the story itself was horribly written. They went through it in record speed and for what? So we can now jump on the "new baby for Jason and Sam" train? No thank you. The whole things is tacky and offensive. Even for my beloved S&B I can't keep watching. I'll catch their scenes on YouTube.

mosbp2003 said...

Karen,is there any way of forwarding these comments to ABC? Honestly, I knew I was not the only one that quit watching after the Jake crap, but having this many people come on here and say they are done is ridiculous. Either cancel the show or get a clue and fix it...it is not fair to GH, the actors or the fans to leave the show floundering in this condition. Lord, if the show were a character, Guza would have pulled the plug a long time ago...

Anonymous said...

Nope. I deleted from my DVR after I read a possible baby for Jason Morgan! The writing for the Jake storyline was horrid and I was seething after Jason Morgan decided NOT to attend his son's Memorial but watching the ASK GH video with BG/SBu and then reading what is in store for Jason Morgan I once again removed it. no thank you!

Anonymous said...

I still dvr the show, but like many it takes me about 15 minutes to watch. I still like scrubs, Johnny, Jax, Liz, Lucky, Luke, Tracy, and sometimes Jason. Doesn't take long to get thru scenes that doesn't have those actors in them.

Doesn't all this complaining just make it worse? Either write & call in or quit bitching. JMO...

hrmom26 said...

i deleted it off my dvr the last straw was Jake's story line so many holes in it where was Audrey? Monica? how about the memorial? and man the spotty fast track was so bad it hurt to watch it was over in a week!

Keisha said...

Diane was a refreshing hoot yesterday. thank you for that. Otherwise a snooze fest!

I have to say as a Jasam fan, if the story were reverssed and it were their baby that passed away, Kemo would get more airttime than Becky. Guza must be hot for Kemo(can't blame him). And even though I love my Jasam Becky's acting skills edges kemo's so I have to agree with what ya'll are sayin.

Anonymous said...

it looks like there are more liason fans than jasam. why don't the writers change things?

Hope said...

I have watched and loved GH since the very first day. But no more, I stopped when the Michael in prison thing started, killing jake and bad bad writing finished it off. I agree, best actors, worst writing....Good bye GH

Anonymous said...

I still watch but mainly for Johnny & Lulu scenes even if they are with other people. I FF through everything else. Also i think they are doing to JMB what they did to GF by making her appendage of another character (aka Dante). At least when Lulu was with Johnny JMB had a real s/l.

Anonymous said...

I occasionally watch GH for Patrick & Robin but their s/l has dragged on with Lisa to the point I'm sick of it but the Jake storyline has almost pushed me over the edge and now I'm suppose to accept Jason already talking about having another child? Seriously GH? Horrible message your sending. Basically saying it is ok to replace a child with another. Yea and the new promo. I have no words for the tackiness of it. GH's agenda is showing so badly it is ruining a once great show.

It is truly disgusting how low General hospital has sunk. There is so much wrong with the show right now it's hard to know where to begin. Where are the friendships and families? Viewers are subjected to nothing more than sleaze these days. But for me the last straw was how quickly they told the Jake storyline, killing him off and Joss getting diagnosed and cured in a matter of 2 episodes. Worst yet no funeral was shown for viewers to have a proper send of to a beloved character, his own father didn't bother to attend. Of course it gets worse (how is that even possible!), Jason is moving on faster than the speed of light by trying to replace Jake with another child. Did he even care about Jake at all? It's hard to tell. Shame on ABC daytime and General Hospital for continuing in the direction of destruction!

Anonymous said...

I took it off my dvr yesterday and will not miss it. I will devote myself 100% to OLTL. I have been watching both shows for over 15 years, but GH is boring and I wound up ff most of the show. They killed off/ran off/ fired most of the core characters and repeat the same stories over and over.

Anonymous said...

GH sucks and it continues to prove my point by writing these craptastic stories. Really so one kid dies and now the father of that child is all gunho and ready to replace that child? Really is that how it works? That's what every mother wants to see on TV. I think GH forgot who their audience is. Jason should be telling Sam to get lost with her idea to give him a baby because Jake died. I still have GH on my DVR but refuse to watch. I'm one more step to cutting the cord altogether everyday.

LindaV said...

I've been watching GH since I was a kid in the 60's with my mom. I find it hard to stop altogether, but I am so disgusted that I just ffwd. through most of it. I just watch for the occasional great performance by the excellent cast, and that's about it.

Anonymous said...

I'm a 30 year consistent watcher, still dvring but can't bring myself to watch at all the last two weeks. Will always read your blog and hope things turn around at some point. And LOVE OLTL! I can't believe it has taken the place of GH as my must see tv.

Andrea said...

Yesterday was the first day it was off my DVR. When I got home, I forgot I finally deleted it off for a second...and then remembered.
I didn't feel I missed anything, but I have decided to stop following GH sites as well, and that makes me sadder than anything. I just don't want to know what is going on that show anymore.

bumchickabowbow said...

It's still on my DVR, just so I can FFD though Mabby scenes...which seems to be about 80% of the show these days...*yawn*

I took GH off my DVR during the toxic ball story. I check in now and then, but mostly get updates on line. The writing on the show disgusts me. Guza should have been gone a long time ago. I keep hoping they do a "Dallas" and Elizabeth wakes up one day we find out it was all a dream. But, I won't hold my breath.

Anonymous said...

I grew up watching all ABC soaps but now I only watch AMC & OLTL. I cannot stomach what GH has sunk to. My favorite characters are unrecognizable (if they are even still on the canvas) and history & continuity seem to mean absolutely nothing to Frons/Guza/Phelps. I used to be so very addicted to GH ~ even when a story went where I didn't like, I still had to watch because there were other genuine story arcs [not plot points] to hold my attention. I had hoped at the very least that behind the scenes people from GH Night Shift would have been embraced at GH to fix the awfulness, alas my hopes were dashed. GH NS reminded me of what made GH the soap I had loved the most, all for naught.

The personal agenda of Frons/Guza/Phelps is so very evident in the few clips I catch on YT or even the promos that it turns my stomach to see what this once great soap (and even soap line up) reduced to the myopic tunnel vision that exists now. It is evident they (Frons/Guza/Phelps & ABCDisney) wish to alienate the long time viewers and they are succeeding. If ABCDisney didn't want to alienate viewers, they would not have allowed this farce to continue for this long.

GH is a 'shadoe' of what it once was and had a shot at being yet again if only the 'high up' execs would take the time to read the creative fan fics of the very viewers they have lost; get rid of the now dead weight (Frons/Guza/Phelps); bring in people that know the real GH history and what the characters should be like; use viewer feedback to strengthen the stories. Stop wasting time allowing the personal agenda & private playmates of Frons/Guza/Phelps from decimating the once great General Hospital.

I also have over 30 years invested--so sad. But, as I am the most craziest S & B fan, I'll never leave as long as they are together. I think if one of them leaves (if they are no longer together in other words), then I'll probably quit due to how they dis all the vets, meaning that they dis the fans. I want to remember them as together forever.

Kayla said...

I stopped watching daily after they dropped the ball on Liason- I started watching again just for the Michael rape storyline, but after it was done I stopped watching completely. I refused to watch the Jake fiasco- I saw one episode, which happened to be the non-funeral/memorial service, and was so mad/upset I haven't watched it again since then- and don't really plan on it anytime soon, to be honest, even though I've been watching for about 10 years.

OLTL on the other hand...just golden. Everything about that show is great..everyone writing at GH should take a page out of OLTL's book!

Kayla said...

That should be 15 years lol

I don't miss a second of OLTL these days, it is simply too good. I didn't miss a second of GH for about a week during the Jake stuff but they lost me again. Now I FF through the show in about 15 minutes because I don't need to actually watch every scene to know what is going on... sad

I have watched GH as far back as I could remember, it was what my mom watched & when I would come home from school it was GH & homework. My first boy crush was Blackie Parish my first love of a couple was Sonny & Brenda. I fell head over heals for Jason & Elizabeth back in 1999. They were the couple that I rooted for to beat all odds. Rebecca Herbst & Steve Burton have that special something together that can not be bought or forced, with that Jason & Elizabeth came alive on screen. I stopped watching GH on a regular basis when GH did what I felt was the unthinkable. They flipped the script Told Jason & Elizabeth fans to go screw themselves and reunited a couple that should never even seen the daylight never mind got back together. As a mother & a woman I found it offensive that GH would try to tout a woman who committed crimes against a child as a hero & the father of the victim Jason is now sleeping with a woman who wanted his son dead. Forget all the character destruction that was done to Jason to force this pairing but know No father would ever forgive crimes against their child never mind sleep with the woman who committed them. Morally reprehensible! GH has proved me wrong when I thought they couldn't get any worse they did. The Murder of Jacob Webber was the final straw for me. That's right I said MURDER. Jake was hit by a drunk driver. The police are aware of who was driving. Yet where are the consequences? Luke is out on the street free, he has yet to be arrested & held responsible for his actions. What is the message GH is giving. GH is effectively saying it is ok to drink drive & kill someone. Morally reprehensible. The story has been rushed beyond belief. I have seen every PC member speak of Jakes death, but where is his mothers POV? The woman who raised him on her own since he was born, big fail GH. Which leads me to the disgusting preview I just viewed. Jason is going to discuss & want a child with the woman who wanted Jake dead. Jake's body is not even cold yet they are going to talk of having a baby? A replacement baby? WTH is wrong with them. That woman watched Jake get kidnapped, hired men to point guns at a child, wished that child dead. Now that child is dead & Jason is going to reward her by giving her a child. There are no words to describe the utter disgust I have for what has happened to this once great show. You can not replace a child. You can not reward a child terrorizer. I understand when watching soaps you have to suspend some reality but this? No, you can not victimize a child & expect it to be ok with fans. Fans do not forgive or forget, you can not re-write history, fans know it by heart. You can not destroy favorite characters by writing them so OOC thats fans don't even recognize the characters they have loved for years. You don't have a rape victim get counseling from a hooker. GH has become morally bankrupt. GH proves daily that they are so far removed from the viewers, they are on another planet. They refuse to listen to the fans of the show & write what they want & to hell with the fans, the history & actors. They prove their personal favorites & personal agenda's take precedent over good story telling. When GH stops becoming my escape from daily life, it is time to turn GH for good, and that time has come. ABC/GH is selling a product and when that product becomes inferior consumers go elseware. GH refuses to fix their product, they refuse to listen to the fans telling them what they need to do. They continue down the path of destruction without regard for the consequences. What do fans have to do to get the show they used to love back?

Anonymous said...

GH is a complete mess. It's nothing but agenda driven crap. They seem to have nothing but contempt for their core audience. There is so much wrong with this show- no continuity, people are acting out of character, dropped storylines, pretty much just plot points, killing off legacy characters, forcing agenda couples down our throats. All of that is bad enough but, GH went too far when they killed Jake and the sole purpose is so Jason and the woman who wanted Jake gone can have a baby? I don't think so! That is beyond disgusting. Not only because of what she deliberately did to Jake but, he isn't even cold in his grave and Jason decides yeah what the hell, I can now have a kids?! Talk about character destruction. Until changes are made at the top, ie.firing Frons, then this show is hopeless.

Anonymous said...

There is too many storylines that are dropped and that is why I quit watching GH. Why even bring Helena back for a few episodes if you dont use her. Why make Aidan Lucky's if you don't use it. Why have Molly have some kind of distress order from the bus accident if we don't get to see her go to therapy for it or even talk about it. Same with the Kristina storyline. They started to tell a story about how hard it is for her to trust men again and they dropped that too.
Olivia and Steve, dropped. Terrell is hardly seen anymore. I thought he was supposed to try to break Robin and Patrick up...he was dropped pretty quick from that storyline! How about Michael and everyone finding out he was raped in prison? A few tears and then nothing. Nothing for that storyline except for it being brought up everytime Michael does something wrong and he is warned that he may go back to prison if he doesn't watch himself.
Geez. Tell a story til the end. research it. Hint about it in storylines already going on. Don't just push it on us.

I swear to you... was JUST about to put GH back on my DVR.... I quit watching some time after Toxic Balls when I realized months worth of eppys had built up on the DVR and I had no interest in watching them. I loved Skate, Liason, LuSam... it was interesting and the characters were expanding beyond their normal rut. Then suddenly POOF it was all gone and growth for all ended.

BUT then I read they'd fired Becky and I fought like HECK to get get back.

When they did, to reward GH for rehiring her, I put GH back on my DVR (the week S&B married). I was truly excited to watch again. That last all of 5 minutes (oddly the same amount of time it took to kill one kid save another and make it all ok for Jason to have more kids - 5 minutes). OFF MY DVR AGAIN!

I am only here to let the idiots in charge know how PISSED OFF I am. I will post here and any where else they will listen. GH sucks... Sam having a baby with Jason SUCKS. Jake being dead SUCKS. Carly becoming a caricature of herself SUCKS. Elizabeth being trashed SUCKS. Lisa SUCKS. No Quatermaines SUCK. All MOB no GH SUCKS. All violence, no romance SUCKS! (oh- and 'funny' gyno visits are NOT good funny or romantic- AWKWARD).

GH sucks.

Reading through these comments it seems that if the rumors are true and they really are taking two ABC soaps off the air they are keeping the wrong one!

Wow, I see the majority of these comments are from Liason fans and it looks like they are the majority of the ones who took GH off their DVR.. As a long time viewer of GH (25+ yrs), I found it absolutely ridiculous that you stop watching based solely on the fact that your favorite couple is not currently together. It's a SOAP, no couple is together forever and they all sleep with each other! My goodness, grow up and stop with this damn couples war you people have going. The only reason it looks like there's more Liason fans is bc their couple is not together so they are vocal. Jasam fans have their couple together, no need to be vocal... and no, I'm not a fan of either. I don't like Jason, both of the girls deserve better. I may not like the way some of the S/L are being played out, but I'm a true fan and I will not stop watching GH.

I'll state what I told you last night on Twitter. I'm a mom of a 4 y/o and the whole Jake storyline makes my stomach turn!
I watch the Guza/Burton q&a, and a man that said he lost kids years ago, could write that!! Sick! Get therapy!

IMO, a tragedy like that should never turn into fodder for your writing career.

I started watching GH when I was 12 or 13, 1982 or 83, and it was so great then. Action, drama, characters you could invest in. Actors that interacted with each other. Like 5 or 6 at a time. Now all you get is 2 or 3 maybe, sitting at a table or beside a hospital bed. Do these people not walk?

I could go on and on

Anonymous said...

Dear WUBS,

I have followed GH off and on thru YouTube (though mostly "off") for years. I watched the show religiously in the 90's when Wendy Riche and Claire Labine ran the show. That was it's true glory day. Jill Phelps and Bob Guza have ruined a once-gorgeous show.

I'm mostly upset about the characters of Brenda and Sonny. Brenda started to get butchered when Guza came to the fore in 1996. The magic of Riche, Labine and of course the inimitable Vanessa Marcil was stronger than Guza at that time. But that's when it started. Vanessa's 2002-03 return brought high ratings only because of Vanessa's talent and the history of the character. Guza turns a strong, spunky if insecure woman into a weak, dependent tragic girl.

As for Sonny, that character assassination started as soon as Vanessa Marcil left the show. Unfortunately, GH now centers around Sonny and his misogynistic, hedonistic mobster lifestyle. Gone are the positive social messages, role models (both positive and negative!) and inspired writing of the 90's. Sonny is the perfect alter-ego of Bob Guza: narcissistic, destructive and just toxic.

After Vanessa's return in 2010 GH really had a chance to use her charisma and star-power to not only boost ratings but to bring back the history her character provides. Guza could not have tried harder to ruin GH's characters or come up with a worse storyline! Not sure why Fronz and Phelps are still working at ABC either. Reuniting Sonny and Brenda is a godsend and STILL they managed to waste a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

For example, Vanessa and Maurice's physical chemistry alone made millions of young viewers like myself watch in the 1990's. Theirs was a real relationship of ups and downs, fights and an exploration of true issues between couples. I was glued to my screen. This chemistry was completely ignored this time of Vanessa's return. Shame.

Well, we always have old YouTube clips to get us through.

I stopped watching 2 weeks ago. I keep up with the spoilers here and other soap sites and Twitter. The show has become a travesty of itself. I've been watching since the early '70s. I named one of my sons after Robert Scorpio. The whole show has become some sick twisted bizarro world where nothing makes sense, none of the characters related to one another and the core families are gone. I'll stick with OLTL where the legacy characters have frontburner storylines and families are golden.

Hey anon, Something tells me you are a jasam fan, i can smell the crap from here.

mosbp2003 said...

To the anonymous that thinks everyone has stopped watching simply because they are liason fans, you either can't read, need your glasses fixed or simply choose to believe your version of events despite what is in black and white right in front of you. Reason after reason has been presented as to why the fans no longer enjoy the show and no longer watch the show. Yes, a of it has to do with Liz's absense from the storyline about her own child's death, but that has nothing to do with whether someone is a liason or jasam fan. Hell, jasam fans have spoken up and said this was crap. If you don't like what we have to say on this blog, then maybe you should stop reading the blog. I think you are the one in need of some "growing up"...

Andrea said...

2nd to last Anon. Good for you that you are going to stick out on watching GH. I will quit watching GH because I want to. I am not going to keep watching GH if I think the writing is bad, so maybe you should watch what you say on here. We all have our opinions. Mine consists on how bad GH has been lately. I value my time and if I think the storylines on GH is wasting my time, I am going to quit watching it. If you call that childish, fine. But it is what I WANT to do.
I also have two friends that have quit watching as well, and they are JASAM fans. They are sick of the choppy writing, as many of us are.
I personally don't think that most of the Liason fans are quitting because they aren't putting Jason and Liz back together, but more along the lines of GH does not use their characters correctly. They don't use the history or the vets at all. I was extremely shocked when I realized that Liz had hardly any scenes on when it was her child that died. It was all about Jason/Carly/Lucky/Luke and even freakin' Lulu. I would be the same if it was another couple that weren't on like Carly/Jax. Why the heck isn't Jax getting more airtime with his only child that just had surgery?
That is just crappy writing and THAT is why I quit watching. And I AM a Liason fan.

DON'T START THAT JaSam...Liason STUFF! I don't think people are either or for the most part on here, and if they are they are civil.

PLEASE don't fight. I HATE IT. Especially over soap couples.

Wow, ok. I didn’t mean for my comment to come off the way it did. My apologies; I’ve just been on a few blogs today and their comments are always based on this couple war (both sides equal), so I decided to comment on one. I agree the writing is awful and that's what needs to change in order for this show to gain viewers.

As The One who angrily tweeted Michelle Val Jean last week, I urge others to step up the Twitter rage. DIRECTLY tell the idiots at GH how 100% disgusted every viewer with half a brain is. I'm not really watching anymore, either. It's just too horrible on so many levels. Starting with THE WRITING, THE WRITING, THE WRITING!!!!!!!!!! And when I say WRITING, i'm including overall storylines and LACK OF VETS. Awful.

Anonymous said...

Gary, Michele Val Jean doesn't have any control over the overall S/L or whether vets are on screen. She's a script writer. She gets an outline with a plot and she writes the dialogue. Guza is the one who comes up with S/Ls, send him letters at the studio.

I have watched off and on since the beginning. yes, that long. I've been recording it since the early 80s when I got my first VCR. While I've continued recording it, I haven't watched it for months, and it went off my DVR last week. Very sad.

ABC needs to end the Frons /Guza error. They have ruined the show. They have no sense of history and don't care about GH's years of loyal fans.

They have made a mockery, redoing one of the best and most pointly told stories ever on daytime (BJ/Maxie), by taking an adorable little boy who is related to practically everyone on the show and senselessly killing him and having the whole thing completely done with in 2 weeks.

They kill characters for plot points with no thought to the future.(Jake, Alan, AJ, Emily, Justus - clearly they have a deep hatred for the Q's)

They have centered a show around a Mob boss and his killer/enforcer, and in order for them to be the "heros" everyone else they are up against have to be deranged and so inept that Sonny and Jason don't look like the bad guys.

They bring back old beloved characters and ruin them in so out of character storylines that you can't believe that they are the same people. (Laura, Rick, Holly, Anna, Scotty, Heather)

Why they have been able to stay this long is beyond me.

GH who?
I took them off my DVR back in 2008. I've been hoping from the sidelines that they'd write better. They haven't. So my DVR stays away from Boredom Hospital.

I can't and will never take them off DVR. Yes the storyline sucks sometimes and I wish their was more history involved but I just love that show no matter what!!!!

I wish I could say that I still love GH but I just can't. I started to dislike GH a while back when the toxic ball story line happened. It was just so stupid and I found it to be almost insulting to me. The extremely poor way it was written. I didn't watch it for over a month and I didn't even notice that I missed that much of the show. Since that time I caught less then 2 or 3 episodes a month and I am consistently disappointed each time I watch it. This latest fiasco of the Jake/Joss kidney story was so badly written I watched two days and actually felt angry with the show. If I ever hear that the current PTB leave the show I may just tune in again in hopes GH can return to what once was.....a great show.

There are 64 comments on this post. How many of you have written to ABC??? All of you have good points but it doesn't bring them to the attention of TPTB when you only state it here. I think this a great site and mean no disrespect to Karen but she can't make the changes that we all want. Fan support got RH rehired maybe we can do the same thing and get Guza fired.

Andrea said...

Well I HAVE written (letters/ postcards) and called all the numbers and left messages for YEARS now. and nothing has changed. NOt only GUZA and Frons but also ABC headquarters.

I know many fans are angry and TPTB have heard and reacted to some. - RH being rehired that GUZA/ SB Q&A. BUT the real problem is Frons he likes this mob crap too. and doesn't give a hoot about the shows history.
He interferes with the writers and has his own adgenda.

I stopped watching GH back in Dec. 2010. I just could not watch another day of Sonny and Brenda.

After 40 years of watching, first with my mom when I was 8 years old, until now, I am done. The Jake story made me stop taping it. The have ruined a soap I loved.

Ashley V. said...

Anon, if you visit plenty of soaps sites and are on twitter, PLENTY of fed up people have been writing about the show. And if actors are hearing the backlash, which from what I am hearing, they ARE, it's entirely possible that TPTB are hearing it as well. Now, how they respond to it all is another story, if they choose to respond at all, or just blatanly ignore the fans like they have been as of late in regards to these horrific storylines, such as Jake's death and the POOR way it was handled. I haven't seen one person of the main media praising GuzHack's writing YET! And fans are beyond FED UP. I'm just one of many that has been sending in letters and emails just to tell them how sickened I am about the show as of late. It does NOTHING for me anymore, and I'm someone who always watched during good times and bad. This is worse than bad.

Oh, and yes, those saying that it's only this fanbase or that one tuning out, please STOP. As fans of the SHOW as a whole, please stop trying to throw other fans under the bus in saying that it's ONLY one fanbase tuning out. That is indeed NOT TRUE. We are ALL in disgust at the way the show is written.

I did it! I just contacted ABC through their website. MY first time officially voicing my opinion. Hopefully if enough people express their concerns something will change.

I have watched it since I was twelve. I will probably always continue to watch it. However, I DVR it and then turn it on while I am doing homework or working on the computer, because the storyline is only good enough for background. I feel like I can't delete it from my DVR anymore, but am not excited about it at all. The last time I really enjoyed it was when they were doing karaoke at Jakes! I was excited Vanessa was coming back and they blew that. So many things that I could complain about, but you know them all: Jake's death, lack of Spinelli lately, Shiobhan altogether, LISA!! etc, etc, etc.

On a good note, I LOVE One Life to Live and record it too. It is still a joy to watch. Only bad part is I always have to wait to watch until my 11-year-old stepdaughter is here because she is addicted to it too! I got addicted to GH when I was young and she is starting with OLTL.

I've said it before on here and in other places. I started watching GH sometime in the fall of 1995. I was almost 9 at the time and I was watching as a way to spend time with my mom, who had recently returned from a 4 month hospital stay (she has muscular dystrophy). At first, I was really bored, but then the Jason/AJ accident happened. I remember them shaving Jason's head. I guess this is why I have always had a soft spot for Jason. For the longest time, he was my favorite character (the way he held stillborn baby Lila...there are no words), but he has been written OOC for so long now that I don't recognize him when i watch. it is so sad.

I was trying to remember the last time that I was really excited about a storyline, and it took me almost an entire half hour of reading these comments to realize that it was the MetroCourt hostage crisis, and even then the writing was on the wall. Jason and Sam saved the day. Carly showed everyone just how loyal she was to Sonny despite being involved with Jax. Allan was killed, starting the decimation of the Q's. I won't say that everything since that storyline has been crap, but unfortunately more than 75% of it has. The writers have ruined almost all of the characters (the first time i spotted it was when Robin hid the fact that Emma was Patrick's child and was willing to pass her off as some anonymous sperm donor's kid when she was the one to tell AJ that Michael was his kid). Alexis used to be fun--even the way she ditched Ned at the alter was fun (flagging down a big rig!). She was Eddie's Angel for Christsakes! Now what does she do? Not much. She hasn't had a real storyline in years--not since the Jerry Jacks "romance"--if you could call it that.

It seems to me that whenever the fans begin to like something the writers have to take it away. I still don't understand why they broke up Spixie. Did they do it because they hired the guy that plays Matt? He's a cute guy and if they gave him something to do he could probably do a great job, but he isn't on and because he isn't neither is Maxie--who I used to hate, but started to really pull for when she was with Spinelli. (btw, they had a really great storyline in the making when they revealed that Matt was Noah's son, but then Noah disappeared and Matt was suddenly bff with Patrick, neither of whom had liked the other all that much at first.)

I hate to say this, but most of the people I know that still enjoy GH are not well-educated. Not a single one of them made it through college (most barely squeaked by in high school), so I sometimes wonder if this is the group that Guza is writing for--the bottom rung of society, people who aren't smart enough to put two and two together. I know that a lot of the things that bothered me at first were the missed details--things like the PPD storyline, in which the disorder was portrayed completely inaccurately, or the Michael jail storyline (he should never have been prosecuted because he was justified in killing Claudia to save Carly and Joss). It was obvious (at least to people with half a brain) that Guza wanted Michael in jail so he could be raped. Another storyline that lacked almost any accuracy was the text message killer storyline. If Guza has any knowledge of how serial killers actually operate, I will eat my computer. All he really needed to do was watch an episode of Criminal Minds, and he would have had some information at his disposal (there are also a TON of great books--I recommend John Douglas--that could have really helped that s/l to ring true, but that would mean that Guza would have to sound out all the big words, and that would have been too much work for him).

CONTINUED:

Anyway, after watching for 15 years, I have completely given GH up--I deleted it from my DVR back in October, and other than a vague twinge of longing for the GH of my childhood, I have not missed it. I now watch OLTL (LOVE LOVE LOVE this bullying storyline. So many people are involved: Shane, Jack, Rex, Gigi, Echo, Starr, Blair, Destiny, and Dani--even Todd is indirectly involved in the story and he's in a coma!) and Y&R (I checked out the Y&R page on the CBS website, and found that so many of the characters have been on for years and they are ALL connected in some way, shape, or form. I wish I could say the same for GH. And like OLTL, Y&R has a storyline featuring many main characters either directly or indirectly).

On a lighter note karen that is the ugliest monkey I have ever seen lol

The reasons I've stopped watching are exactly those you've written about. Lack of history, family, poorly written/edited stories ect. I felt the Jake story was handled so terribly. I love the actors, and have been watching since I was a teenager, but it's time to move on.

As I told Michele Val Jean, I totally understand SHE'S not The One in charge of overall storylines and use of vets...to a degree. But she has a voice. She's involved. Oh, yeah, and Guza's not on Twitter, so I have to hassle SOMEone. My point is that inundating ANYone involved with GH with criticism has a ripple effect. They all MUST know how outraged and sick of the show fans are. And as I told Val Jean -- and i'm not sure, obviously, of how much power she DOES wield -- but couldn't she have just inserted the names BOBBIE, MONICA and AUDREY into the script to show that, oh, yeah, these pivotal characters ARE supposed to still be in town, and the audience would like them to just ACKNOWLEDGE that they're grieving Jake...even though the budget apparently doesn't allow them to be SEEN? Quite frankly, I don't have the time and patience to waste running to the post office to mail Guza a letter. And he doesn't deserve my postage money. Twitter and the internet in 2011 should do just fine in conveying audience rage.

I've watched GH since I was a kid and I first fell in love with S&B. I still DVR it but generally end up only watching Friday episodes and still FFing through most of it. I think my biggest problems with the show are poor/lazy writing/continuity issues (soap fans are not morons who are just distracted by the next shiny object on the screen) and the fact that it just isn't FUN anymore! I remember the fun my mom and I used to have watching S&B; and Lois and Ned; and Lucy and Kevin and Felicia and Mac's capers. The show (or the writers) take themselves way too seriously now, and do NOT have the storyline writing to back that up.

I actually posted earlier but after reading these felt I should say this--yes I complain almost daily on msg boards it just makes me feel better to say just how bad I feel about the state of GH.
I DO also write comment cards, make calls to TPTB and I write ltrs detailing my reasons for no longer watching GH and what I'd love to see done to fix the hot mess Gh has become. That also makes me feel better.
I enjoy Twitter because it gives areal time view of how ppl feel that actually do still watch GH and I can read it and get a laugh or two everyday.
I do agree that OLTL should be the soap that is saved it does a great job of showing all it's characters and still does funny stuff--such as David Vickers-he cracks me up.
