Sunday Surgery: A Dime a Dozen

This week moved like a snail--on Sominex. I guess they were so busy with the Nurses Ball, the stories just went out the window. I mean..wow.  I DID watch every show, so no yelling at me for that.  It was a chore though.
BUT!!  I'll make it easy this week and give you 12 of the most important things to know:

1. Julian is NOT a Rat. Sure, he may have murdered guys-- even roughed up and almost slit his wife's throat but-- HES NOT A RAT.  Oh, well, yes... he has been trying to get Sonny for years. Sonny has tried to get Julian convicted and Julian has done the same. They wanted to put each other in the slammer. BUT NOW? Nah...why would he do that? He's not a stoolie. No way.  Won't sign an agreement to get Sonny arrested.  BECAUSE HE'S NOT A RAT, DAMN IT!

2. Even after laying in a hospital bed for weeks, Anna can still stab an evil bastard doctor in the neck when she needs to.

3. Nelle's in BIG pain... in her KIDNEY.  That's right..her ONLY KIDNEY. Dun dun dun...

4. Rocco does NOT get chocolate chip pancakes on school nights!! That is, unless Charlotte sleeps over because it's oh so special. Oh, so very, very special.

5. Laura gets an earful from Brad about Finn's pee being positive and tells him to take a hike. She also seems to have found some bright over-sized flowy summer frocks.

6. Robin and Emma flew in from California in time for the Nurses Ball. They run into Alex (not to be confused with Anna who stabbed the doctor)  at the airport and Emma immediately knows something is wrong. Oh, and Robin? Yeah, she's still pregnant.

7. Sonny once again used his dimples (and some pasta) to get Martina in bed. Carly walks in however, and well.. the jig is UP!   Like we haven't seen that 13,000 times before.

8.  Finn's Pee Tests? Tainted by Brad? Oh no, silly rabbit, it's Ze naughty, mean Dr. O who's been in the lab mixing up "urine trouble" for Hamilton Finn.  (urine trouble, get it?!)

9. That F'king CHIMERA thing is in Jake's "Magic Box"-- and Alex and Anna are looking for it. They had a scene "together" on Friday. Alex paraded around her Chimera necklace for Anna to look at. *sigh* I could care about nothing LESS than this story.  It's supposedly a weapon. I hope it has biological agents in there to wipe out 1/2 of the town.

10.  Lucy gets ready for the Nurses Ball next week...traditionally a pretty good ratings pull for GH. Many people tune in that haven't watched all year.

11.  Hayden is pregnant. (I can't even remember the last time they had sex, can you?) Hayden decides she wants to have the baby... Finn is happy, I guess.  You know--hard to tell.

THE BIGGEST NEWS??

12. Aiden is, indeed alive.  No Cam sighting but...at least this guy isn't working the coal mines this week.

The ongoing PILL Switch story is still happening, I guess the "reveal" takes place during the Nurses Ball. I know people like Sonny with Martina but--what's the point?  Is Carly going to be jealous? Do we care? This couple has been divorced a BAZILLION TIMES. The Chimera thing?  Bringing back Anna's twin in this context is just--dumb.  This isn't a intriguing sci-fyi story, it's not a nail-biter 'who done it'. It's NOTHING.  Nina's thrown in there as the jealous wife-- tedious. Julian..?? What's going on there?  Finn's drug addiction? We know he's not addicted. We've lived through this lizard-serum story long enough. Hayden is now pregnant. Which, again, I don't care. This couple is so isolated that they sit in the damn hospital hallway talk most of the time.   GH has so many kids it's ridiculous. I bet they are going to throw a scare in there because of the medication Hayden was injected with.
Will their baby be HALF LIZARD??? (Bearded Dragon!!!?)
Kiki and Dillon--dull, dull dull.  Jordan and Curtis? They are on the 2 week half-rotation choppy cycle. Valerie was on this week, giving Jordan the what-for.  I didn't even recognize her.

Positive Note: I love the kid that plays Rocco. He's a natural-- camera loves him and he just delivers his lines perfectly.

Side Note: I need to know from people that never watched AMC and who didn't know Anna has a twin.  Was this the weirdest? I mean, it was never presented to the audience before hand-- and it was basically 'revealed' when Anna woke up in London. So-- did you have any idea what was going on? It just seems like if I was watching and had no clue or backstory I'd be so confused. Alex hasn't been referenced in what? 20 years?

So, next week is our Nurses Ball. Here's hoping it's fun and entertaining. Last year was the serial killer mess. (oh man, was that a disaster!).
Oh, and I'm hoping and praying no one I like dies and gives their kidney to Nelle. Or even donates it.
Nope.

  1. Yay, first again!! Thanks for the great SS!! It looks like Brad did NOT do the deed, it was Dr. O all along, he really seemed sincere when he denied it.

I didn't really know about Alex, but I knew because I read this blog. If I did not, this would have made NO SENSE at all. Actually, it still makes no sense, because it seems that Alex is a doctor, not a secret agent. Also, if Anna has a twin, wouldn't she have been mentioned by everyone, including Robin and Emma, all along?

  2. Yay 2nd...yeehaw! Never watched AMC but knew that Fin played Alex. I agree Rocco is a cutie but Avery is cuter. Her bye bye to Carly clear as day was so cute! I agree about that bomb thing, I hope it wipes out half the town, aka the characters we don't need, aka Dr O (sorry just don't care for her). I did like the chocolate chip thing, it was a special occasion and it was true to life. When there is a special occasion stuff you wouldn't normally do, you do.

  3. BRACE YOURSELVES and please let me know if this makes sense to anyone!? Feel free to comment! I have heard rumors that a Chimera references a strange DNA situation where a child actually has three sets of DNA within them. It usually occurs if that was a fraternal twin that unbeknownst to anyone was absorbed by the stronger baby. Parents do not know they were even expecting twins because it occurs that early. That born baby then has the DNA of the mother, the father, and their fraternal twin. I guess the three sets would be indicated by the head of a lion, the body of a goat and the tail of whatever that thing is! ONLY Jake did not get his triple DNA this way. It will supposedly be revealed that Helena in order to save Jake, somehow injected him with the DNA from Stavros' stem cells. She also injected the same stem cells into the embryo of Charlotte. That would mean that Jake and Charlotte share the DNA of STAVROS making them both not only Cassadine's but siblings. Remember Charlotte's DNA was only tested for her mother. This has to be the stupidest idea but it makes sense for Helena. So I guess the beer can with the lion on it holds the secret of DNA alteration… Which could allow for crime cover ups etc. I don't understand it anymore beyond this but that's the working theory I've heard. Does this make sense to anyone?

  4. Thanks KD. I'm one who never watched AMC or any soap besides GH and if I had't read this blog I wouldn't have had a clue about Anna's "twin." I just thought she was having a break down at first. Dumbest story ever.

You're right. A lot of people tune in for the Nurse's Ball and it's a great place to showcase the multi-talented cast of GH. They don't tune in for murder and mayhem. A little wiff of comedy with Lucy and her dresses, maybe. Deadly pathegens wiping out the town and making kids fall deathly ill -NO. People arrested or attacked for switching meds....definitely not. I fear, however, that it's going to turn into just this type of fiasco, with liberal sprinklings of Sonny thrown in, and any potential new fans won't last the week.

The acrtress who plays little Avery is adorable. And a natural. She stays in a scene a lot better than some of the adults on the show. Her "goodbye, Carly" had me chuckling, as did Maura W's attempt to keep from laughing. I'm sure she never expected the child to respond, on cue. lol So many other young ones on the show have just sat there like robots and those little additives like, "Say goodby to Carly, Avery" were just tossed in for effect. I suspect this little one will have a long career.

  5. I did watch AMC but still don't remember her. I read that the cast members didn't know that Finola Hughes was playing her sister. I don't get that. It was sure obvious to me that she wasn't 'Anna'. Actually 'Anna' hasn't been 'Anna' in way over a year. Not another character, just the writers weakening a strong woman. Carly is annoying. Love the character, love the actress but if I hear one more time that Sonny had Jax arrested and deported, I will hurl. Sonny may be a bad boy but Jax is a slimy 'good' boy.

*** That's so true. And they've done the same with Alexis. She's a Cassadine and she is anything but weak. But they wanted to bring in other people to be lawyers so Alexis had to be be hobbled.

  7. In response to AMC, the rumor, which I had not heard, sounds intriguing and also more interesting than the current storyline, I'm all for more Helena mayhem!

  8. I never watched AMC and only learned about Alex from a couple of friends, and you. This story is not at all interesting to me.

I have not, from day one, liked the Dr O character...she has always been evil (I seem to be one of the few who remember what she did to Robin), so I'm not surprised she is after Finn...I am surprised she is still working at GH (after trying to sabotage it recently). I hope this is the beginning of the end for this character.

I could go on, but those two "complaints" are enough for today!

I do hope the nurses ball brings us real talent this year...I'm ready!

    1. Oh thank you, someone else who doesn't like the Dr O character.
Wish she and Nelle would go jump off a cliff together.

  9. OK, I have to say it again. I LOVE Dr. O! Yes I HATE evil sociopathic villains, hate watching them, even Helena, which leaves me in maybe a minority of 1. Yet the actress who plays Dr. O is so amazing, and so amazingly talented, that I would listen to her read the phone book! Almost everything she says is hysterically funny, they write the best lines for her, and that accent . . . I hope she never leaves GH!!

  10. This week I agree with everything you said. Who really cares with whom Sonny sleeps? He has slept with so many, most of whom have become pregnant, I hope we don't have to go through that again. Both chimera and Samira were stupid storylines. What GH needs is more romance, more intrigue, and better writers who have read the GH history.

  11. how dare they rite a twin storyline without consulting you and I first Karen?

i was aware of the twin thing. i never saw AMC, but because I have been on message boards forever, I read about it way back when on GH message boards. I knew about it, but never saw it.

all i know, is that FH can act the hell out of anything she is given and never phones it in. but, that is the problem.... what she is given.

    IT'S THE WRITING, STUPID.

this is not written well at all. but lately, when is it ever? it would be so much better with a more intriguing storyline. i loved how emma was the one who knew that anna was alex. that was good. but the storyline overall is a snoozefest.

also, i am tuning into the nurses ball. it is nowhere near the must see tv it was in the heyday.(exactly how much money IS raised for local AIDS charities? and how much money is raised with 12 people in the audience? dont get me started!) but i will tune in to see lucy in her underwear and the hot guys prance around shirtless. i'm shallow like that.

always love your posts and agee with what you write 99.9999999% of the time. thanks for always having this blog

  12. I love Dr. O, too, because the actress is so wonderful. I know she is basically evil but so funny at times. That little Avery is a doll! I don't have much interest in the Chimera storyline but I do like seeing a lot of Finola. I wouldn't be surprised if Charlotte and Jake were somehow brother and sister. The only woman the writers empower is if course Carly. Looking forward to the Ball!

** Anna DID mention Alex on GH, once before. It was when Dr. O was trying to break Faison out of Steinmauer, with the Anna mask on. When Anna talked to the person at the desk, the person there was suddenly confused having seen Anna just go in to talk to Faison in an interview room. Then the guard asked Anna if she had a twin sister, because that would have made the most sense. Anna then replied that she did have one, but who was in with Faison could NOT be her, since she had just talked to her just a bit ago, and she wasn't here. That was the first (and IIRC, up until now the ONLY time Alex was mentioned on GH, at all). Up until the time when Alex had gone missing from PV suddenly, and was asked by the person who had been helping Anna out for the several years after she, Robert, and Faison were all presumed dead, to the current time. Anna had absolutely no memory of any time before the explosion, so didn't know who she even was herself. During the time Alex was treating Anna, was the first time either of them had any knowledge that the other had existed at all. But yeah, Alex wasn't involved with either the WSB or DVX in the past, at all. In fact, I'm not totally certain atm, but IIRC the DVX was never even mentioned on AMC, period. I THINK when Anna started getting her memories back, she did mention the WSB at some point.

** This is something that actually DOES occur in the real world from time to time. Sure, it's VERY rare, but unlike Finn's entirely made up and silly "Blackwoods Syndrome", there have been cases of this condition(?) (I'm not entirely sure what to call it) that have been documented of it occurring.

** So do I! I have since she first appeared on screen, and she just keeps getting better and better! Sure she is basically evil, but over the years she's brought so much more depth to the character, than the essentially textbook case of what one would call a "mustache twirling villain" (just minus the mustache) that she started out as, and still continues to keep impressing me. :) And even more so, after seeing her in other roles/shows/movies. Sometimes, it's hard to even recognize her!

Since we're on the subject of Dr. O, I should also point out to Karen: She only altered this last pee test of Finn's that she was doing at the end of Fri. It was Brad that did the previous ones. (The way Jelly wrote the whole thing was VERY confusing.)

  18. I watched AMC when Alex and Anna were there. Alex was not evil but a dedicated doctor who nursed Anna after she was the boat with her, Robert and Faison blew up. She left AMC by moving to Europe. Anna stayed on AMC, married David Haywood and had a daughter Leorna that was stillborn.

  20. Wow, just saw the ratings at a new low for the week of the 15th - 1.75! Could that possibly have anything to do with Sonny and Carly on nonstop again?

** Which makes the whole mess even more sad and frustrating. I know I've been ranting on the Anna/Alex thing for a few weeks now. (which I imagine most people are probably sick of me doing.) Granted, I've been a VERY big Fin/Anna fan, since she first came to PC. (Even with that absolutely absurd fake scar) Which I know is a big factor to my ranting. Even more so especially, as I've said a few times, that what we've seen in the last week or so in particular, when what I'm watching is completely contradictory to what has been shown in the past. But, I'll try to cut back on the ranting. :)
