Sunday Surgery: Aw, Hell to the Nell!

I finished the Gilmore Girls Friday and I can't stop thinking about how much I loved it. I'm going to watch again just to get all the stuff I missed! Fall was my fave of the episodes.

BUT I WANT IT NOW!! So Veruca Salt.

Bringing me to GH. I'm not sure why you suffer through these every Sunday but by the blog clicks, I haven't lost too many over the years!! GH is totally in a downward spin right now--I mean I can't think of one thing I really care about all that much. The dialog is so..so.. 'un-snappy". REALLY tedious. But, there I go again!

Honor of Gilmore Girls: Pop Tarts, Red vines, some pizza and old Chinese takeout!

This is literally what has happened with Ava, Sonny and Julian for the last 3 years:

Sonny: I'm gonna kill Julian!
Julian: Well, I'm gonna kill you
Ava: I'm going to get justice!
Sonny: I'm gonna GET JUSTICE!
Julian: No Justice! I'm gonna kill Sonny...
Ava: Well, I'm gonna kill Sonny
Sonny: You're gonna rot in jail
Ava: NO, you're gonna rot in jail!

And what happens this week? Welp...Julian and Ava are back saying they are gonna kill Sonny again. Dear Writers: WE KNOW YOU ARE NOT GOING TO KILL OFF SONNY.He won't even go to jail for a hot minute!  If Sonny even makes it to trial, he's either going to get found innocent or get off on a technicality after serving X amount of time. THE SAME thing for Ava and Julian! They've ALL been to jail! They've ALL tried to kill each other. They've all killed other people. Can we stop this, please? For the love of GOD PLEASE????
Thank You.  Sincerely, Deja Vu Wubs

Dilly and Kiki have now turned Amish in this whole scheme of things. Their convos are painfully dull. "What are you going to do with your life" "I donno, what should I do"?  "I dunno, want some coffee"??? Now Kiki has that rat bastard TOM stalking her. Can GH not use females as people needing rescue?

And what the HELL with Franco? If they are trying to make anyone who didn't like him like him, ummm, that boat has sailed. Now you are just turning him into a guy that is going around trying to strangle a rapist. He talks to his mother about "losing it".  Is this romantic with Liz? Is this what viewers want? I mean, you know I love Roger but... come on. I can't see the end game on this at all.  Even Roger and Robin are like WTF.

Valentin. Who is he? Who was he to Anna? How is that box of pain he's playing with? How's the Latin coming? Yada yada. Can't wait for the next egg to drop. (get it? hahaha) Lulu's going to be all over Charlotte next week.

Lante had a honeymoon night in the Metro. The best thing about this whole scene? Tracy came over to see Laura and they talked about the past. Tracy did step in for Laura and it was awesome to hear.

Laura went to Kevin's after Tracy talked her into going in her mink coat...naked. Yes, that happened! Kevin was dressed in a Santa Suit. So..that happened too.  They slept together and got all cozy. Awww.

Then there's....... NELL
You must say that in a Jerry Seinfeld "Newman" voice to get my dislike for this character down. And no, she's not a "I LOVE TO HATE_______" like Erica Kane, she's just a flat out bad-move character. Why? Well, let's see, instead of focusing on Sonny and Carly climbing out of grief hell, she has to drug and pretend to sleep with him.  YES! Pretend- because we all know a 50 some year old man wouldn't know if he actually HAD sex even if he was passed out.  He would know (the morning after I mean). We all KNOW--there are tell tale signs and I'm not making that up. Sorry if you are eating. Anyway, this chick puts a roofie in his drink and lays next to him and.. then begs him not to tell Carly. Then, in the next scene she's begging him TO TELL Carly. Yes, I heard it myself. It's like the dialog writers never looked at the previous day's words. Now here's the stupid Gala coming up and her phone is probably going to broadcast the "Sex Recording" for all to hear.
*sigh*

JaSam. Poor JaSammers. Geesh. Sorry but this is dull as anything. They are low talking about finding the bomber while Curtis weaves in and out of people's stories like a shadow. Weird. Just weird.

Alexis. Ol' binging Alexis. Now Julian remembers the accident and is going to make her come visit him and probably take care of him or 'else'.  Whatever. So over this. They destroyed them when he put that knife to her neck and chased her around like a crazy person. Even IF someone was 'making him do it' it's still abusive/attempted murder-- and he could have taken the high road...but you know, GH.

So, Hayden tested "positive" for the Hammy-Ham disease. Which, so far means not much. She cried to Elizabeth. Finn said "HE'D FIND THE CURE"!! and.....? We know they aren't going to die. Ergo, yeah. Great story. (sad trumpet)

So, that's the week that was!

SCENE OF THE WEEK: Tray and Laura. These two should so be the focus of the show-- maybe business rivals or.. partners or something. Loved them. And what Tracy said was true, Laura and she never have had a drink together!

FOOD OF THE WEEK: I don't care what Todd and Lesil are talking about, just let them eat.

PROP OF THE WEEK: Come on, you all have one of these in your purse. Admit it.

FACE OF THE WEEK: Whatever this is, it's funny.

Off you go! Have a great rest of your Sunday. Hard to believe it's December already. My dining room table is covered with pre-Christmas shennanigans.

They have turned Amish? Well that's good they can replace Michael and Sabrina's amishity. :) Is that even a word? I made it up! :)

  2. Great SS on a not so great week. Anyone anxiously looking forward to Monday's show? Didn't think so. Tracy and Laura were the highlight of the week and that is plenty paltry. Watched episode 2 of GG last night (hubby even watched) and loved every minute of it. I know there have been mixed reviews but.for a fan it has been wonderful. They even got all the minor characters back!

  3. This show is never going to get any better until these writers are fired. Bring back Ron Carlivati and some damn balance to this show. Please.

  4. Nell rhymes with hell, which seems appropriate.

Not only have certain characters stagnated into repeating the same storylines and dialogue, this show has the same problem that's gotten worse this year. Where is the happiness? Where is the escapism and romance? It's so dark, depressing, and at times violent.

  5. I am a huge fan of GH and have been most of my life, since age 17. I am 54 and have watched except for a few years in the late 80's. This time is depressing. The actors mostly rock and I love the mix of young and older. Diversity is improving.

    But...

As much as I admire and adore Maurice, Sonny is ruining the show because HE NEVER CHANGES. Insanity's definition, anyone? All of these marvelous women are insane fools with the way the show is written! The men? Is there any story in which Sonny is not inserted? I tire in life of people who refuse to grow and change.

Writers: you have these opportunities and you blow them! Damn. Morgan died? Nobody is different? Nobody?! Maybe Kiki will grow but no one else? Let Sonny have a moment like in IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE! Let him decide to CHANGE!! He could show us that redemption is possible! Let him decide to run a real coffee and restaurant business and source it from local places and have him HELP people with the proceeds! Employ bipolar people and excons and young people! Open a damn farm and a winery -- wouldn't Laura Wright love it?!

    JMHO.

  6. Gilmore Girls was amazing! I've watched it twice and hope there will be more! As far as gh,great surgery for a very dull week.

  7. Unless Sonny is still at home tied to his ankle bracelet, he can't go to the gala. Would Carly go alone? I think she would hear the tape somewhere else. The Metro Court? IMHO a lot of these plots have been regurgitated way too many times. Yeah, I realize this is soap opera fodder, but we fans are much more savvy. I'd like to see more twists and turns then pretty much knowing the outcome weeks in advance of when they're finally played out. It does the actors such a disservice. Just sayin'

  8. Karen you said everything I wanted to say. Even when they start a story with a little bit of promise it quickly turns to crap :(

  9. Jane and Genie are Emmy winners and proven fan favorites on GH and they need to be paired up in escapades as frenimies immediately. Also, get Fin in on this as ANOTHER Emmy winner and have them all interact and KICK ASS. Look y'all this is me: I am a married 40something dad with a wife and daughters...I like some macho guy stuff like football and whiskey but I also appreciate and value what females bring to our lives. Jane, Genie, and Finola need to anchor GH at this time like Tony and Tristan did in the 80's and (for Tony) into the 90's. They are all extremely capable and EMMY WINNING actresses who are beloved by the fan base of GH and who have plenty of mileage left in their characters. I love that the women they play are not perfect...they are all capable of morally questionable acts, but dammit we love the characters because they also strive for grace, fairness, and making a difference. DAMMIT GH give us more of these three and we will watch the hell out of the show!
Also, now that we can get the OLTL characters back kill off Franco and Silas now and give us TODD AND MCBAIN BACK. I don't care if it makes any sense or not. They FIT in the GH canvas and worked well. JUST DO IT.

Paint and Wall, with Curtis: Oh man! I got so distracted when watching them. It's windy and cold, and snow on the windows!!!! Why don't you talk somewhere else?!!?!! Or inside!!! BRRRRRRRR! They are not wearing appropriate coats!!!!! Just a teeny tiny jacket!!!! I rather have Jason and Curtis work together.. I want Sam to go away.

    Inside Kelly's:

Laura and Anna: I like their scene. :) Too bad it didn't help Anna much.

Anna: Love that she was talking to Robert, although too bad we didn't see him! :( Oh dear!!! The boarding school that V.C. went to burned to the ground?!!?!!?! DOH! Getting more and more interesting. :) DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNN!

Car garage: Hey much better!!! Love Curtis and Jason working together alone. :) What the heck is Bev-More? Hahahahaha! Oh the sign is fake?!!?! What is behind the sign?!

    The hospital:

Lante with Amy and Rocco: Zzzzzzzzzzz. Why is Amy there? What is the point of her at all? Zzzzzzzzzzzz..

Lante with V.C.: Zzzzzzzzzzz. V.C.! Don't be in scenes with one of the most boring couple in the world!!!!

Dante and V.C: Oh MUCH better. :) So basically,

Dante: I have a bigger Johnson than you!

    V.C.: No I do!!

But seriously. Great scene with them! :)

Lante and Laura: Oh oh! Rocco forgot his list!! Oh where is it? Oh it must be at Doc Santa's room! Yes Lulu go get it! Then you could see little Charlie! :)

Valenina: Damn damn damn! Stop! Just stop! The heat is rising between them!!!

Doc Santa's room: Doc Santa wins the line of the day!

Doc Santa: Fear not. Santa strives in giving joy to all children of the world. Even daughter's of homicidal fathers.

    ROFL!

Charlie and Doc Santa: Awwwwww! :)

Lulu: Oh there is Lulu! She sees Charlie!!! She feels that pull!!!!! DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

Julian's room: What's in that cup of yours Alexis!? Alcohol?! They are playing dumb about who ran him over.

Julian: Duh I have no idea who hit me.

Alexis: Oh I don't know who hit you either.

    Julian: It was YOU!

Alexis: No it was not!!! You don't have proof!!!!!

Actually it was a great scene. I especially loved when Alexis kicked the chair! Hahahahaha! And the look on Julian's face! Hahahahahahaaha!

** I kinda doubt it. I would think they'd go with a different theme. But, who knows what they're thinking anymore?

    Hahahaha perfect. :)

    ** I knew I HAD to share that. :)

    The hospital:

Lante with Amy and Rocco: Zzzzzzzzzzz. Why is Amy there? What is the point of her at all? Zzzzzzzzzzzz..

** Since we hadn't seen her in so long, I was REALLY hoping she had just faded away with the whole hospital closure storyline. When I think about it, I've NEVER heard/read anyone say anything positive about her, or actually like her. I thought maybe Jelly had actually realized they screwed up with her. Unlike how Amy Vinning had ties to others on the canvas and actually had some redeeming qualities, this Amy is just plain annoying, and nothing else.

Lante and Laura: Oh oh! Rocco forgot his list!! Oh where is it? Oh it must be at Doc Santa's room! Yes Lulu go get it! Then you could see little Charlie! :)

** Aging Rocco yet again was just weird, also. The last few times we've seen him, it looks like he's been aged a bit more each time. He couldn't even talk at Halloween.

** Am I the only one who thinks doing the Christmas/Santa stuff so early this year is strange? Sure it was cute and Kevin was fantastic, but it just felt kind of jarring so quickly after Thanksgiving.

Doc Santa: Fear not. Santa strives in giving joy to all children of the world. Even daughter's of homicidal fathers.

** That line made the episode! :)

Lulu: Oh there is Lulu! She sees Charlie!!! She feels that pull!!!!! DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

** I was REALLY REALLY hoping they weren't gonna go down this road. Especially since she is older than Rocco, it just doesn't make sense.

  14. K, I also thought that the Santa scene was WAAYY too early . . . why are they doing this now? I thought that the scene of Lulu seeing Charlotte was GREAT, it sent chills down my spine!! Maybe the ages don't make sense, but I would LOVE this to be Lulu's daughter, she deserves it after all the Cassadines put her through. I guess that when VC was telling Laura that their families would always be connected, this is what he meant . . .

Yeah I liked her at first, but they aren't doing anything with her. And yeah since they haven't shown her in awhile, I thought she was gone.

I don't think it's too early. The kids are telling Doc Santa what they want for Christmas.. Christmas is 2 and a half weeks away.

** Yeah, it made absolutely no sense, whatsoever. The "sense of time"/pacing/continuity is just horrid. It's so disjointed and jumbled. The events of one day or night can take several days (if not longer) to tell, and then once that's done jump ahead a week or two. But, Christmas is still 3 weeks away, and there is still gonna be the gala, which will evidently start next Monday.
And Jelly just received a WGA nomination. The ONLY soap to do so this year:

    http://soapcentral.com/gh/news/2016/1205-wga_writers_guild_awards.php

** You'll be happy to know then, that according to this week's SiD, it seems to be the direction they're going. I agree entirely that Lulu definitely deserves the child from that embryo back. But, not like this. My biggest problem is definitely the age factor/issue. Charlotte is very clearly older than Rocco by a couple of years. (at least if they don't SORAS him again by X-Mas) For her to have come from that embryo, she would need to be younger than him. The Cassadines have for the most part put their family through hell, and they definitely deserve something good like that coming, I just would prefer that it actually fits and makes sense with past event
s, is all. (Granted, I still hate the "Russian lineage" backstory that was tacked onto the Cassadines, not to mention the complete rearrangement of who was related to who family-wise when they were brought back in the 90s, but I've grudgingly accepted it over time.) I know that's asking for too much with Jelly though. So I shall wait and see!

I don't think it's too early. The kids are telling Doc Santa what they want for Christmas.. Christmas is 2 and a half weeks away.

** I dunno, I do admit, the whole thing of just barely after one holiday ends (if not sooner) everything goes up that has to do with the next one is to quickly, is s prt peeve of mine
