WUB Charity 2011
I just went through the charitable donations for last year from the WUBS NET and want to say a giant thank you to all of you for helping the following charities:
Pretty The Series *
Susan B. Komen Foundation In honor of Raven
Project Night Night
AIDS Walk LA
Lupus Foundation (Bradford Anderson/Gwaddy)
Alberta Wubs (pictured above with John J York) has helped with being the ambassador for the Wubs Net and GH fans. Many of the charities are in honor of GH actors (and birthday gifts). Thank you to all! There may be more we donated to throughout the year and I just didn't get the details.
March will be Gagoo Jammies Month!
*not exactly a "charity" per se but we did donate a sizable amount to help this show stay on the net for season 3!!
If you have a charity that is directly associated with GH in some way, please let me know and I will consider it for future donations.

Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo's Jammie Charity!
VMG is very involved with the cause "Jammies for Nkosi's Haven"
Nkosi’s Haven is a residential care center in Johannesburg,
South Africa that shelters Women and children infected with HIV/AIDS and
as well as orphans who are infected or not with HIV/AIDS. This year, she
is doing a project that will warm our hearts and put smiles on the faces
of these beautiful angels.
Vanessa and crew are sewing and making jammies made of organic materials
to help clothe them to keep warm and make their lives a little easier.
These kids depend on us to keep them safe and happy, thus, what we are
wanting to help, too. Vanessa asked us a couple of weeks ago, both via Twitter
and Facebook to email her at gagoovmg@gmail.com and be put on a waiting
list to buy one pair and donate the second pair, (or you could donate
both pair if you like, the more the merrier and the more these children
will be warm).
Vanessa would like to reach a goal of 10,000 pajamas. Thank you!

Brianna Brown, our own "Dr. Lisa Niles" (who's "waking up" on GH!) is running the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday. Brown, who's from Apple Vally is running the race with friends and family to honor her grandparents.
The race is for NAMI-Dakota County, an organization that her grandparents, Jean and Tom Brown, started for their daughter, who suffered from schizophrenia. The grass-roots organization is 100 percent volunteer-based and consists of family members trying to help loved ones who are suffering from mental illnesses. Good luck and happy running.

Julie Marie Berman and her 'Cause for the Dogs'!
While dating her future husband, Mike Grady, they decided they wanted a dog. She ended up on “a huge web site that had, literally, every color imaginable of the breed I was interested in. I thought, ‘Great!’ So I ordered my dog online … then I got another one. The first one came with a lot of issues that we’re still dealing with today.
“I thought I was doing the right thing by not going to the pet store. But I think it is safe to say that I ordered our dogs right from the puppymill. I had no idea that I was doing that. I thought that because they were AKC registered, and I talked to the breeders on the phone, that everything was normal. But after receiving our dog, I started to question the validity of the breeder and the care that they give their animals.”
Julie and Mike educated themselves on the horrors of puppy mills, became proponents of adoption and are now pushing that cause in their newly formed company, Better Buddies.
Along with a third partner, they reached out to Best Friends Animal Society to join forces on ending the homeless pet problem and push adoption as the best choice when searching for a pet. The company has pledged 10 percent of its profits to the organization.

and social change.

Sunday Surgery: General Hospital Call Button
HEY! All soapy fans to go to OPRAH's site and fill out a form for the "biggest soap fan". Hell, I know I could send a whole LOT OF YOU over that way! LOL Hit the link and get the info. Thing is..will it be a nice show about soaps or one of those "look at these insane fans" shows?? Hopefully a mixture of both.
How was your week? This week of GH was pretty forgettable for me. Same ol' Same ol'. I know Brenda wasn't on until Friday... she and Carly did have another nice snark attack on each other. Michael saw Abby being attacked. *sigh* I realize it's the "catalyst" to his break through but silly me, I really thought it could have happened while the poor kid was in therapy, not while his new gal pal was almost getting raped. Either way, Mon/Tues promise to be big for the acting chops of Chad Duell to be displayed.
On the other hand, I do have to plug OLTL again because it's just doing all those things a soap should do. Using history, vets and giant cast moments to tell exciting stories. Note how they have two similar stories going on a day and they cut to the scenes while each of the other are talking. Rex/Dorian cutting to Aubrey and Clint. Shane is being bullied online. (about his asthma no less). Babies are still switched and we really don't know which one is which one's baby daddy!! A cute scene over scene about the baby names, with both girlies saying the same one. Priceless.
If only GH could quit the block taping and endless insertions of characters while at the same time pulling them back. Case in point: Claire. We don't see her for weeks, she's on with Sonny for 2 days, now she's off again. You'd think they'd have her in the office talking to Theo or Alexis or Diane about things. Nah...why bother? I know "Suzanne" is at the wedding because of AB's tweets, but again, she's been off canvas so long we lose interest. Mayan is on, off, off on. Same with Olivia and Steve. One scene with her eating a grilled cheese sandwich isn't doing it. (they cut a bunch of scenes of her recovering in the hospital, btw). You know I can go on and on. I still don't know how the hell they are going to "sell" Matt and Maxie when they are on so infrequently *Sigh* But hey! Tony Geary's back from his giant vacation soon--whoo hoo. :sarcasm:
The hooplah over Rebecca Herbt's firing isn't dying-- it's still chugging away. After SOD announced her exit was "open-ended" there's been hope. False hope? Who knows. At least it's not a huge "dying of a tumor' story. There are persistent rumors that Jake is going to die however, and she'll feel responsible, ending up at sister Sarah's to distance herself from Port Charles. This is only in the "pupa" rumor stage however, a little egg put on Soap Zone, ready to hatch. (like that?! heh).
Here's a nice You Tube video a fan made about her exit. It's got a nice message...
Looks like Sonny and Brenda do exchange vows...there have been a lot of tweets revolving around the reception. (see photos below in blog) That's great news for the SnB fans..although you know the entire wedding can't be drama free!! NINE days of taping. Good Lord, it's going to last FOREVER on our screens.
BTW, if you want to buy Brenda's multiple engagement rings, go to Soap Jewelry, they've got them all!
FRANCO NEWS: In a Leonard Maltin interview he said he'll direct GH eppies and there's a second MOCA shoot. "Post-Modern Art"...okay...I hope they let the fans come to the MOCA again!! Franco won Best Actor at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Thank you to everyone for hitting sponsors when you go to the Wubs Net site and on here. We were able to donate to Port Charles Wishing Well again yesterday. They are almost at their goal of $6000! Isnt' that awesome? Last day to donate, btw..so hit the link. You can also go in and sign EACH "baby book" for JJ, Becky, Derk and Dom.

Sunday Surgery: A Cabin in the Woods
Oh, Lisa...dragging Robin off to a cabin in the woods..a cabin we've seen so many times before. Maybe someday, my wish will be granted and I can be a props-master and actually get into one of those to decorate it. Wubbers noticed that was totally Patrick's old couch in there. Maybe next time, they could put a "cottage" looking place up. Think of all the stuff that's happened in cabins over the years. Babie's being born..sex being seen-- Luke smashed in the bear trap, Claudia hacked up. Then what's next? Robin falls in a well...and how many people have been trapped like that? I'm thinking about Natalie--wasn't she in a well forever on #AMC? Erica was just trapped somewhere in the woods. At least the STONE fans will get a bit to squeel about with all this.
All of that Deja Vu-- and another mysterious baddie coming. Text Message Killer, Karpov, Anthony Zacchara--numerous Cassadine villians. When in doubt, send in some maniac to stir things up. See, I like the whole Bauer thing because it was real peoples. What ever happened to his wife?? She'll probably show up in a year or so when Guza remembers she's still hanging around Port Charles in our collective ghost closet.
Brenda will be "home" this week... I wonder if that's a record for a "return" --actually coming back to the town where the soap is set. You know I haven't been happy about that situation. At least we'll see her with Carly. I'm so sad Sarah Brown is gone because her as Claudia confronting Brenda? Whoooooooo Weee!! Sonny should still be married to HER right now, and then Brenda come along. Claudia would eat her up, spit her out. Talk about psycho! But no, we have CLAIRE. :eyeroll: Not that I don't like DS-- but I wish she was seeing someone ELSE on canvas. We all know she's a stand-in. What's going to happen next? Will she get a whacko on like Lisa? Does she die? Slink away? Get involved with Ric...oh..wait..he's gone. LOL.
I'm personally looking most forward to the Spinelli/Brenda/Jason scenes. Should be too fun.
Now there's word on Soap Central that ZOE might be coming?? Really? I thought that was long done. We'll see if casting is announced. I mean, Maya is languishing in the background doing nothing. I guess having her on with Ethan every other week for 5 minutes constitues something, but I'm not sure what. Why bother with Zoe unless of course, it's to draw Michael out of his shell.
Tony Geary shows up to visit Lucky in jail...not sure how long it will take him to get back to Port Charles. Let's hope it's faster than it took Brenda.
Other stuff coming: Michael is going to start to open up more about the whole prison thing, Maxie and Sam are jealous and you know Carly's going to be out of her mind. Becky's back taping on set so Liz will walk in on Brooke and Nik as well. (not actually having sex, I don't think).
The Desi Geetsman "Evening with the Stars" is set for October 9th. This is a long standing charity with soap stars and has become a beloved annual event. I have some fun photos of Tony Geary with Vannessa I'll have to look up for you sometime. Tickets: $100 per person at the Los Angeles Landmark at the Farmers Market. Click on link for tickets!
Uh, I'm watching the Bills...who were looking good and now? OY!! Sheeze. Hope YOUR team is doing well.
Some new spoilers will be going up later tonight.
