GH again had some great scenes and one stellar day. Then it just dissolves into playing narrative catch-up and filling our time with useless scenes. I keep going back to the fact that if this was a 30 minute show all the fluff would be cut and the action would happen at a better pace. BUT!! That's me.
I just found "cold foam' for my coffee and dang! No more spending too much money on take out coffees anymore!! Grab what you got and let's go!
I'm just hitting the highlights for the week and then the fillers will be at the end. If you're going to watch any shows, check out Monday and then Ava's scenes on Friday. There are some AWESOME one-liners in there!!
OG JARLY : Wow. Laura and Steve just BROUGHT it with these scenes. This was on Monday and I do urge you to watch. Old anger, baggage and emotions were just brought right up. The kicker? Carly goes and tells Jack what Jason said about 'doing to him what you do to me'. Carly--TOLD ON JASON! That's a huge shift. Now, if it was for old Brennan, I could mayyyyyyybe see it but this new guy? Meh. Nope.
TILL NEXT TIME: Valentin leaves after saying goodbye to Charlotte and giving Jason an earful about Brennan and the WSB. It was a good little arc for JPS and if it had been done tighter, it could have really been something. Even so, I was sad to see him go--although he'll be back right? It's Steinmaur and everyone gets out of there eventually.
CHAINED: Now I had said earlier this week that Gio and Emma should just chain themselves to the crypt and here it is! She even keeps those things in her car because 'you never know' when you might need them!! The scenes were ok but very chopped up. Would have been more cohesive if they ran together. Tracey coming was a blast and Anna's "Get the bolt cutters" fit right in. LOVED Trina live streaming. What I don't get is this new character; Ezra Boyle who seems to be everywhere dissing Mayor Collins. Don't we have enough politics with Dum-Dum Drew? Also: you can just dig up or raze dead people. BUT! It's soapy I guess!!
MONICA MENTIONS: So many this week. How is she? Can she be given the papers for the crypt closing? Even Liz asks about her. On April 1st, there will be a tribute episode to her character but I'm not sure if this was written before or after Leslie passed away. I DO think Monica will pass on GH but not sure it will be just yet. As you can see in the photo above, cast turned out for the "Dr. Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Center" dedication.
WHY SO SERIOUS? Oh, this recreation of the Tracy-Edward pill scene was grand. Too bad Kristina had to come down to stop it. Ava could have twisted the knife a bit more!! Don't worry, Sonny was up and had his personal physician come over to check him out. He was even so good he went to Toronto to fight a bad guy with Jason!! With no back-up!! Those pills are magical.
KRISTINA NEEDS THE R-WING: If you know, you know. Anyway, Delusional Krissy goes to Irene's grave and bitches about how unfair life is and how much she hates Ava. Then, after and epic argument (watch it on Friday's show, well worth your time), she goes into the parking garage and fiddles with what she thinks is Ava's car. The car is really Ric's and he's going to take Liz home after she dropped off some Portia information. Krissy regrets her actions, tries to call Ava and races to the scene. Welp... you know if people are driving and you hear that music things are going to happen. Screeeeeetch.... and boom. We will find out Monday what happened. I'm almost hoping they hit Kristina head on but...???
FLASHBACKS: I'm mentioning this because the ability to use footage from so long ago with characters today is rare. RH and JJ are so so young in them!! Squee! They are also at the height of the L&L2 story before all the crap hit the fan. Yes, I enjoyed them. I DO think JJ comes in, films like 6 scenes with one person each and there you go!! Monday he'll be with some cops so they really pulled out the stops.
GROSS-OUT: The only fun thing to come of this is Nina teaming up with Portia to take down Drew. The reason I'm mentioning it is because Drew's true sleeze-ball really came out during the scene where he catches Nina in his safe. He actually says to her that she wants him ALL to herself and is jealous of Willow. Ewwwwww. I don't think he could be more despicable if he tried. PS. Willow is still as stupid as ever.
EYEBALL ALERT: Thank you to DVJohnsen for capturing this eye-sore that Brick wore the other day. Interesting they can put this guy on for 2 throw-away scenes and ignore the greats like Dr. O and Ms Wu. *sigh* At least Jordan had Isaiah there to warn him off.
SET USE: When Sonny confronts the hitman they totally use Maxie's old apartment. Yes, there is a staircase in there but damn!! It was SO noticeable.
PROP USE: What the what? When Sonny goes running off to Toronto this is shown on his desk. WHY these two? Why not all of his kids? Is Morgan involved in this? What is happening?
Felicia trying to get Sasha to put Jason on the birth certificate. Then Sasha goes and tells Maxie to hire Sidwell because "he's not that bad" (totally forgot about the money deal they made)
Drew tries to get Kai to have an operation that may save his football career.
Boyle talks to Jordan about getting Laura's seat as mayor but she decides it's a no-go
Lucky and Liz plan a weekend in NYC; Lulu tries to talk him out of it
Ric and Alexis make peace while Diane looks on
We had 33,000 conversations about Brook's Summer Camp Sex Adventures and Lois left for Bensonhurst. Then we talked about it some more. I'm so so over this. How long will it take for Gio to be named? Do we even CARE at this point?
Maxie and Lucas have a fun conversation about his Miami trip and she tells him to just call Marco already.
Stella and Tracey had good scenes. Then Stella had a LOT of Kidney PSA to do
Lulu beats up a stuffed frog in the boathouse and Cody talks her down (you had to see it to believe it)
Joss hurts her ankle and Blonde Guy tapes it up. I'm not even wasting my time talking about it or finding a photo. The WSB training is falling SO flat.
NEWS: Congrats to our OG Jordan! I think this is only available in Canada? "Plan B" ? Anyone know ??
WUBSY MUSINGS: Just a few things. I'm warming up to NuEmma and think she's becoming a good character in her own right. Very "Anna" like in some ways. Gio is also upping it in the acting department. I sometimes feel like they don't have anything to do with Felicia so they throw her in stupid Sasha scenes. LOVED that Tracey, Stella and Curtis are teaming up!! Ditto with Portia and Nina. Lucas steals every scene he's in, even a boring kidney PSA. All in all the week was ok, maybe a B- and that's because of Monday's show and a lot of great dialog throughout the week.
HOPE you tune in for the crash Monday and Monica's Cardiac Dedication on Tuesday. It will be interesting to see how it's done.

ReplyDeleteI noted on FB that I didn't like that Liz wasn't in the group pic for Monica's big day, but she is probably in a hospital bed from Kristina's actions.
I adored Liz and Lucky as kids. They were so tender and kind and gave me the FEELS! Not sure how I feel about them currently but I love having Becky on screen so I'm satisfied.
Felicia IS getting irriated cause she is always in other people's issues/problems and it's like if not to HER liking, she keeps bothering them.

Still feel like they are trying to set something up between Lucky and Kristina...especially if he tries to cover for her when he arrives at the accident scene not long after Kristina gets there and figures out what happened. He might question what Liz was doing with Ric (I don't regularly enough to know if Liz had let him in on what was going on).
ReplyDeleteIn other news, I guess we won't be getting Kim Delaney back as Jackie Templeton. Sounds like Kim needs rehab. A shame because I liked her brief turn as the character.
Speaking of psychiatrists...I've wondered why the memory wall doesn't feature some other prominent GH doctors and nurses who passed before the modern era...like Dr. Peter Taylor who was a lead from the show's early years until he was written out in 1979. Or even Lee Baldwin...who wasn't a doctor of course...but wasn't he the hospital's chief legal counsel all those years? I guess my namesake would pose a problem...most of the longtime fans associate the originator with the role - Valerie Starrett - even though Brooke Bundy got the headline-grabbing storyline with Heather. Rachel Ames is still alive - 95! I worry by the time she passes...is anyone on the show going to have a connection with her besides Liz.
