Sunday Surgery: Pinch Me

How can I begin to even write UP This week?? HOW!!? My advice to you is to watch last Friday-this Friday's shows. Just do it. I don't care if you haven't tuned in for awhile. Ask questions in here or on BlueSky/Twitter and people will answer. I've had people DM me on Facebook because they've come back and needed gaps filled. JUST WATCH IT.

I took notes all week because I didn't want to miss a thing but I also realize if I wrote it ALL out, we'd both be here until June 10th or something. Forgive me if I gloss over some things.

Grab whatever you have and settle in--Let's GO-GO!

NuMichael showing up and Gio's parentage story. Both compelling in their own rights and I'll split them up for you as best as I can.

HEY !! I'M HOME!! Yes, NuMichael showed up at the Ball and took Wiley. Jason blocked the door and wouldn't let Drillow pass. New Michael? Approved and just fit right in with no problem. I like him better actually because I got so used to Chad's acting choices, it was just refreshing to see some new light in Michael's eyes. Katelyn MacMullen did a wonderful job as well and although the character of Willow is so destroyed, she did manage to gain a drop of sympathy from me because Drew is so manipulative. Carly about fainted when he came home and in a stunning editing fail, Mac got a court order (off camera even though he was in the room) that says Michael has emergency custody until the hearing.  BTW, did anyone else see a little chem between him and Sasha??

THE RING OF THE THING:  Oh, man oh MAN!! The car scene where Willow finally takes off her wedding rings was so good. Drew was saying things like "Well, you'd never leave me (for your kids) right"?? Then he takes Lila's engagement ring that Jason gave to Michael and says: We are not giving THIS back. It can be Amelia's someday. Like he owns that ring. Sorry Sir, get your hands OFF!!  I love how that ring is keeping our Lovely Lila alive !!  People are hashtagging #RescueTheRing on socials. (what the internet was made for)

NINA'S FACE:  This brings us to Nina. When CW did her thing on Wednesday, I loved every soapy second of it. She realizes Michael is probably the father of Sasha"s baby and the lightbulbs flash all over the place. She can save the kids from being yanked from her daughter's arms. What does she have to do to do that? Somehow accept Drew in the picture at least for the time being.  I'm hoping against hope Ava slaps some sense into her or just casually tells Ric that Nina has slept with Drew several times on the floor of various offices. CW is getting good stuff and I'm here for it!  I am still sticking with breaking the 4th wall a bit on that day too. Nina's reactions and looking for a split second right at me was just delightful!

THE BIGGEST THING TO HIT PORT CHARLES IN YEARS: Yes, this  happened. Not only did it take forever to come out, the aftermath has been handled with perfection. I saw Kate Hall wrote the majority of episodes so kudos to her. Dialog has been SO on point.

"You don't get to say you're family and walk out the door" ...

THE Q TALK: Was there anything ever more perfect than Tracey talking to Gio about what happened? Such rich dialog that really hit every emotional note out there. ALL actors in that scene from Jane to Giovanni M to Braedyn B were amazing. Gio wasn't too crazed or upset. He was going between shock, anger and sarcasm in record time. Emma's face when listening was also a joy to watch. Then we get to Jane. These last few years of Tracey's transformation while still keeping an edge has been such a journey. The lines were delivered so heartfelt that I cried and for ME to cry at a soap (unless like  dog dies) means it's Emmy worthy. Showing him the brooch and the photo? Masterclass. I watched it twice.

BROOK LYN REACTS: SO much to unpack here because she talked with so many people during the week. Amanda Setton also delivered some Emmy worthy stuff, that's for damn sure. Having to explain to Dante why she chose what she did and then watching him react with such shock and hurt was riveting. Dom Z :clapping: --also amazing work.  Brook's talk with Lois was fraught with mother-daughter angst and choices made long ago. I thought Brook Lyn's reactions were genuine and really played into the fact that she was around Gio in Bensonhurst, watching him grow and and didn't know the truth. Then there was the Dad-Daughter discussion that broke my heart. Ned was hurt that she didn't confide in him at the time but loves her all the same and realizes it was her choice in the end. :Sobbing:  Dante and her trying to talk to Gio and him lashing out and then walking out. Then, at the very end of Friday's show her grandmother Gloria walks into the kitchen. I was so happy in that moment because I was wishing she was there as the matriarch to give another perspective. GH actually did it!! :clapping:!

NOTE: They used some heavy-duty waterproof eye make up on Amanda!

TRACEY and OLIVIA: I mention this because some people didn't think Olivia was needed as much in those scenes but I disagree. She was in the center of Bensonhurst long ago and even told Tracey about holding Gio as a baby and "not knowing he was blood". Tracey had a fun line about her 'psychic' powers in there that made me chuckle. Olivia also had the POV of having kept her baby as a teen. When she told Brook Lyn that for her that was the right choice and she had to make her own, it was magical I thought. She even got to the fact that by keeping Dante a secret, he was shot by his own father so no one knows the consequences of how things were going to unfold in the future.

LULU'S UGLY CRY:  If there's anyone that's universally hated at this moment it is Lulu. Why? She was just unrelentless in this matter. Soapy? Of course she was!! Her shrill over-bearing voice could be heard by Gio and probably all of the stage hands when she was berating Lois. Cody even tries to tell her about the trauma Gio probably suffered and she's like: WELP! Dante deserved the truth!! Then Dante shows up and she's MORE defiant and bitchy in her arguments. He tries to tell her how she's basically doing this to destroy Brook Lyn and doesn't care about the fallout. She lashes back and tells him they can't even be friends now. Um, you should be saying you're sorry for the way it all came out from now until Dante MIGHT talk to you again.

EMMA AND GIO:   I wanted to add this because I'm really liking these 2 as a couple. They are writing them as authentic and taking it slow without boring me to death. I am hoping that they remain 'on the run' for the summer because I love that stuff but it looks like they may be headed home soon. BOO!! Either way, I'm excited to watch them grow and navigate Gio's pain in all of this.

ALSO RANS; WUBBY WEEK IN A NUTSHELL

Kai and Trina made love. It was inserted in an awkward way, especially give the drama happening in every other scene. PS you'd never know Kai had surgery.

Curtis suddenly knew about Portia drugging Drew with us never seeing him finding that out. (People looked, she never told him on camera). He wants to find Jacinta (although I can't figure out why yet). Fumbling this whole thing a bit, wouldn't you say?

Alexis talked to Lucky and Kristina about the crash and realizes that Krissy is indeed, just plain dumb

Laura confronts Alexis over the missing money in Ace's account. We learn on Monday it's 10 million dollars!!! DOH!!

All in all, it was a GOLDEN week. A week like we've not seen in a long long time. The energy even carried into Friday when things were wrapping up. We got a bunch of cliffhangers (Gram Travolta, Laura and the money, Nina with Ric, and Curtis' plan) to chew on.  I think Lucky is about the tell Liz what went down in the accident. Maybe, maybe not. We shall see. The Ace money should be a goodie as will the Michael/Sasha baby reveal. Court is next week so that should be a bit entertaining as well. Dante is telling Rocco about Gio on Monday. Should be good. All in all I can't wait to watch!!

HUGE RUMOR: Sasha goes into labor in the courtroom and WILLOW has to deliver. If so, that's another soapy 101.

Hope you really enjoyed the week as well. Let me know in the comments. Also: What was your favorite scene?  Mine is Tracey with the photo telling Gio about his family.

CHEERS!!

  1. I love everything Lulu. She was near perfect. I think some people who hate Lulu have blinders on because I saw the scenes very differently than others. She did not play the victim and waited to cry until after Dante left.

    1. I agree. People need to cut Lulu some slack. I guess she will turn to Cody for some comfort.

    3. Yes! I loved Lulu in this storyline! How can someone who loves the father of a child who is THERE not want to pursue it? I know that she was too much into assuming that Brook Lynn KNEW that Gio was her son, but the rest was spot on.
Everyone was great this week! I agree that Emmys are well-deserved here!

  2. For me, this was the best week on "GH" since pre-COVID times. What really made it great were all the small touches in the dialogue between characters that paid homage to "GH" history and also made it all seem more real. Bravo.

I am cautiously hoping that the show can remain this good. The recasts over the past year (Molly, Kristina, Lucas, Michael) have been fantastic.

  3. Agree with everything you said including favorite scene. Tracy was golden! I do really like this Lulu! Hoping they keep the momentum going!

  4. I think part of it is the fact that we are dealing with legacy characters and a legacy storyline. With the exception of Brooke and Geo, who are relatively new, we are seeing the show give Rena and Wally and Lisa seems to act their heart out. We followed these characters for decades and we’re finally getting to see them shine the way that we know that they know how. And I think that’s what is pulling a lot of people towards the storyline is the fact that these are our beloved characters that we have been following for years.

  6. Fantastic SS! Thanks.
Best week in many years. Everyone was so good. Almost everyone has years of experience in the soap world except for a few. Giovanni Mazza gets my vote for best in show. What an amazing amount of growth we have seen in a short time. Wonderful to watch!
NuMichael is super good. CD played him well but as Karen said, it's nice to see a new slant on the character. Definite chemistry with lovely Sasha.
It would be great for Kristina nutcase to be outed in one way or another. This dance is tired.
I read somewhere that Dr. O is returning. True or not, I don't know.
I hope that it's Tracy who discovers the ring missing from Willow's finger. Save the ring.
    Looking forward to this week.

    1. zazu, I hope Dr O is returning. Since she is family, I bet Nina could get Aunt Liesl to handle Drew. She could take the Toad down without getting a hair out of place and it would be as entertaining as only Dr O can do it.
I agree that Tracy sees Lila's ring missing. I wouldn't put it past her to report it stolen.

    2. I'd love to see Dr.O take drew down...and not off screen. lol Maybe get some of that poison from Mrs. Wu that made Victor impotent and let him suffer humiliation for a week or so first...hehe

  7. Yeah you have to watch all week to truly 'get it"....can't wait for the previews which it appears they drop Monday morning at 6:00 CST. cause it's custody week.....I just don't think Nina is gonna tell it....I think Ava does.
-----I know I am a broken record but we GOTTA have Michael on the stand say he never knew Willow came/nurse was paid by Drew-----OOOOO I would LOVE her to walk into the courtroom....
-----still so odd that everyone thinks Michael's ONE NIGHT with Sasha = Drew and Willow in the playroom being videoed and then moving it with him.......
-----I want Curtis to have a great scheme.....I want this Boyle thing to be over.....still odd too that no one mentions someone trying to kill Sonny/no bodyguards, etc....
-----I'll explain why I hate Lulu and it's the writers.....all we heard outta her mouth was Charlotte, Charlotte, Charlotte and yes I love Dante.....and then Charlotte is dropped and she became obsessed with Brook Lynn's kid - cause she hates Brook Lynn.....so yep, I hate the character....
----everyone was perfection......just no need to say more....
