Sunday Surgery: Pool Boyz

 

So, no it wasn't the most exciting thing to happen this week --but it was VERY Summer and hey, why not feature the teens for once!!?

PRESSER: Probably the one thing that saved this week was Drew and Tracey doing the press conference. What a little gem in an otherwise unremarkable week. If you hadn't caught the "horse tranquilizer" comment the week before and Michael saying "I think I know someone who can help" the Cody Bell appearance was a surprise. Tracey played it perfectly; the outrage that a stable hand would mess things up!! Drew walked right into the trap and found himself stunned because Cody admitted to 'dropping' the vial after getting some meds at the vet. Martin was flumbuttoxed and angry. Yes, he lunged and fell face-first off the stage. He hurt his back, Tracey laughed and fun was had by all! 

KAI GUY:  I'm mentioning him because he totally betrayed his entire new extended family by telling Drew that Curtis was trying to find Jocinda. Funny thing is, this idiot has been told by the entire village what a snake Drew is and the first chance he gets, he folds. Don't sent him off to be a spy. Geesh. By the way, no follow up after he told Drew that little nugget of information. Nothing. Zip Zilch. 

BRINGING IT : Well, Well--WELL!! NuMichael is just fantastic and his scenes with Willow were worth the watch. (Never thought I'd say that). Both KM and Rory did such a great job. The angst, the passion and the hurt was on full display. Michael is indeed hurt and really plays to that part of it while also simmers with rage underneath. Love it. :clapping: 

DEJA VU:  Thank you to Sloan R for this gem of a photo. I needed to explain my distain for this repeat of a story. Jordan and Portia fight over Curtis--AGAIN!!? You have a cast the size of Montana and...why?? JUST WHY? I get we need 'strife' and all that soapy jazz but hearing the same ol "You lied" to a different woman is just boring. Portia and Isaiah? Jordan was all into that and suddenly couldn't be because of Sidwell. Portia throws a drink on Jordan. Jordan walks in on them almost having desk zex. Where's Stella with a rolling pin when you need her? 

THE FILE: Brook gets both  birth certificates on Rocco. One showing he was born Benjamin Westborne. The other was done 6 months later when they found out about the switch.  She stews about it, looks concerned and jumps when the boys come into the living room. THEN SHE LEAVES THE FILE ON THE TABLE UNDER A DECEPTION FOLDER and LEAVES. No, not the room--THE HOUSE. *sigh* come on, now. Then, guess what (I know you can)-- Danny finds it and hands it to Rocco. The show ended on Thursday at that point. Did we get a follow up Friday? Nope. For a soap that stretches out days for weeks, for some reason, this wasn't worthy enough to let us see his immediate reaction. Also: if it's the next day and Brook got ready did they just put the stuff back down in that spot and not look at it? SO frustrating. And no, it won't have the same impact as flashing back or talking about it later. That was an in the moment "need to know" basis. Ya failed. 

POOL GIGGLES: Oh, Lulu is IN with the boys while they are having their first day. Then what happens? Brook sees her yucking it up with GIO! This means Brook is very jealous and might tip her hat on the secret they've kept from Rocco. If he didn't find out from the file first. We don't know (see above rant). By the way, if it was the '70s, Lulu would totally seduce Gio. That's the way things rolled back then! 

SIDWELL: So, we are ramping up the feud between ol' Sid and Sonny. Sonny isn't going to retire and does a 180 on selling the pier. Sidwell has a ton of photos with Sonny's family on them. He's plotting. We found out last week he paid off the judge to rule in Michael's favor. He told LaRue to just get out of town. Looked at her mean-like off the parapet. I was honestly hoping at the Q post-christening reception she'd be floating by in that purple jumpsuit. Was not to be. 

THE NATALIA SAGA: Suddenly, she's a drunk who got prior DWIs. She drinks to excess and spills secrets. She's also totally obsessed with Sonny and thinks they are a couple. WHERE WAS THIS NATALIA all this time? She certainly wasn't there a few months ago and she's so much more interesting!  They obviously changed the game (especially the Sonny stuff) and made her into something we never saw. She even told Brook Lyn some of Sonny's money was dirty when she had just told Sonny it was clean (I don't get that part yet because she said it before she found out Sonny wasn't coming on the trip). She goes to see her son and his father and both tell her to basically go to hello. The Belize deal is moved up because the ADA got a softball mitt (don't even ask) and Nat freaks out when the bodyguard tells her it's time to go. Again, I feel like so much of this tale is missing. Why not craft it a bit longer to weave it better into the canvas? I know, I'm an armchair writer but dang. Her sitting in the back of that church was a goodie but pretty weird given all we've seen. 

ONSIE DRAMA: So whoever this is isn't going to snatch the baby right away but intends to slowly drive ol' Sasha mad with gaslighting. Hiding milk, changing outfits...yada yada. I'm thinking it's Willow but isn't she in a zombie state most of the time? I don't know, could be Sidwell. Could be Monica wandering the halls and losing it. Not sure. Kinda fun though because I'm all for a bit of mental manipulation on soaps. Poor Sasha though. Damn, she's been THROUGH IT!! 

CHRISTENING: What do you need to know about this? Felicia and Jason are godparents and they are back in the church where everything goes wrong in PC. Supposedly Holly and Robert sent a giant elephant to her but we are all suspicious because it wasn't a kangaroo or a didgeridoo. Maybe there is a whole suite of cameras and electronics in that belly. Sonny talks about Family First (after just turning out the one thing that could get him outta the mob) and Nat LaRue shows up at the church. Those bodyguards aren't on the ball, are they??

WEIRD YET REFRESHING:  In an attempt to 'butter' Sonny up, Lucy brings over a big basket of....oranges.  I mean a BIG one. One of my Canadian friends wondered if it was in reference to Brando in The Godfather. Could be but why deprive us of seeing Sonny running around with a rind in his mouth?

WEEK IN A WUBSHELL:

Ava finds out that Ric is buying Dragon Fruit Refreshers for Elizabeth behind her back 

Cody continues to try to woo Ava by hanging her photographs

Sasha is wondering about the weird things happening but not enough to get a video monitor

Michael and Willow face off and he tells her if she marries Drew, she'll never see the kids again

Dante tries to talk to Gio, Gio's not interested

Gio is having a blast with Lulu however and Brook looks on with green-eyes

Danny and Rocco horse-play at the pool and you would have thought they set a fire. 

Dante and Jason make up (sort of)

Natalia tells everyone she's leaving, let's Brook know Sonny has some shady money and goes nuts when she finds out Sonny's not coming with her to Belize 

Anna finds out that AOC ADA is investigating Sonny behind her back and having Chase help her do it

The press conference ends badly for Drew 

Curtis gets a call that Jocinda may be in Sydney 

Not sure what Laura did this week but she was on

MY TAKE: GH has good ideas but the execution remains sketchy. Dropped scenes, things popping up out of nowhere and just sloppy editing. I remember at one point Curtis tells Portia there's a lead on Jocinda and the next thing you know, they are fighting and trying to have sex. No other mention. Felicia turns up at the Q kitchen but you'd think we would have had a convo with Curtis about it all, no? Some days are great and then the next will be boring-boring. I'm also wondering where most of the kids are since the actors in CA have been out of school for a month. Poor Charlotte is in the attic with Scout and hopefully, they are planning some mayhem for Port Charles. More Beagle. And not having much of the WSB stuff on this week was a win.
