GH: Another One Bites the Dust??

Welp, read Daytime Confidential and...ponder. I wonder how many contracts are going to be "stalled" or "up for grabs" to bring Burton back? I'm not saying he's not important but they are certainly getting budget ready to welcome the boy back!

  1. Yeah I read about this.. Geez a lot of people are leaving! Does this mean GH is going to be cancelled?

  2. I txt'd you privately, Karen, but I will say it here too... Maybe they are cleaning house for more than just SB? Maybe they are trying to bring back another Very high profile name and they need to free up salary for that as well?

I don't have any information. I am just speculating.

OR... Maybe it is time to get rid of bigger salaries and just keep bringing in filler. New characters that no one cares about, but that costs pennies on the dollar compared to high profile named vets.

It's not like any of these actors, new or vets are going to get any storyline. They get promised the world, there is a lot of fanfare, but at the end of the day everyone on the show is totally ignored so that the writers can write for Sonny and Carly.

  3. Yeah, the crash and burn for GH has begun. The show has been overloaded with actors for awhile now, so it's not a bad idea to thin the herd a little bit BUT bringing back Burton is a boring a move. Jason is boring and GH will be done come its 55th birthday. Sorry, y'all - wish I could be more optimistic but GH is going down.
At least we had the great year where Anna and Fasion returned and McBain and Todd were enjoyable additions to the cast.

My last wish: Scorpio returns and he and Anna get to have those Mai Tais on the beach as they end up together. Oh yeah, give me a Demi Moore Jackie Templeton cameo too.

  4. It really is feeling more and more like a mess, with each passing day. But, there is a bit of an interview with SB over on Soapcentral, and what he's saying there, to me sounds a LOT more like it's a short thing, along the lines of what went down with Tonja Walker coming back for a few months as Olivia, and then going. It doesn't sound at all like it's a long term contract situation.

  5. I am still hoping that they don't kill of Hayden and Dr. O, and that Julian isn't leaving. Are they TRYING to ruin the show for us? We invest in a character like Hayden, then she is gone. I couldn't stand her at first, but they redeemed her, made her Liz's sister, etc., this is just mean, no regard for the feelings of the fans. There is so much richness to be had with the amazing talent on canvass, and the decades of investment the fans have with legacy characters. WHY does most of the show have to revolve around Sonny and Carly breaking up/getting back together for the millionth time? Can ANYONE think the fans want to see this?

  7. t's unfortunate that people think this is about Steve Burton. So, all of these significant actors are leaving just to make room for Burton? I think he's a scapegoat at this point. Unfair to him.

Also, Nancy Grahn looks very uncomfortable in her scenes with Julian. I doubt that she, being such a feminist, wants to continue a storyline that makes her go back to a husband that tried to kill her. I'm sure she pushed back a lot.

Lastly, many talk about GH's bloated cast and are now upset that the show is getting rid of dead-end characters and storylines. Wow.

    1. BECAUSE they are getting rid of the wrong people. Lose Nelle, Amy, Curtis Aunt or whoever... who else?

  8. IMO, Julian leaving would be a good thing. I will miss Hayden, however. I REALLY wish they would get TC back - Port Chuckles isn't the same without Nikolas.

  9. I'm happy. They should put WK on contract and do a Ned/Liv/Lex triangle. Get rid of Ava and bring back TC and TR. And they should've gotten rid of Rho and bring back JT even if they have to bream Pat/Robin up. Sorry but I think GH should revolve around there families that made the show so good way back when. Too bad SN is not avail. I'd love to see Nik/Stefan return together. And we need new writers. TR suggested the writer of Night Shift and I thought that was interesting.

** I completely agree with you, on everything. Supposedly Rebecca has already shot her last scenes. And her exit has supposedly been dictated as a "storyline necessity". Also known as "lazy ass writers". I just can't really think of anything that absolutely HAS to happen in one situation or not. I've always thought that was a VERY weak excuse for letting someone go. Especially coming from a show that has had a weather machine that could freeze the world, and a space alien at different times in it's history. As far as WdV goes, I haven't heard/read anything yet that he is DEFINITELY gone. But, unless something happens, he will be. Which REALLY pisses me off more, as there is just SO much familial storyline stuff with him to explore and play out.

  11. I will be really disappointed if WDV leaves. He and Nancy actually seem to like each other and enjoyed working together. I saw them in person and it was pretty obvious - also from her tweets. I'm more disappointed in the way they wrote him into a corner. Maybe she will get a new love interest in another ten years. And are they going to have to hire someone cheaper for Finn? I really believe these cuts are to pay for SB - not his fault but still bad news.

*** And they also just met RH's demands. Bet that wasn't cheap as he was on every day too.

** So will I. He just brought so much more to the character. I liked Stephen Culp's original portrayal, as it was perfect for the time. But when WDV took over and Julian learned that he actually has children and grandchildren, and reconnected with Alexis, he actually took a look at himself and the people in his life that he loves, he actually WANTED to get out of the mob and have nothing whatsoever to do with it, and to become a good person to those that he loves and himself. I.E. he did what he could to have the character "grow up" or mature, per se.

Sunday Surgery: Rude Awakening

Such a frustrating week for me!! GH can be so good, then so uneven and just plain plodding along that it baffles the mind. I felt like Thu...
