It's with heavy heart I learned of Sonya's passing yesterday at the young age of 55. Her love, light and tremendous talent is just such a given at General Hospital it is hard to imagine the show without her. Thoughts and wishes out to all her family and friends.
Oh no. So very sad. And only 55! I hope GH gives Piffy a fitting tribute.
ReplyDeleteOh no. How sad. MY thoughts and prayers are with her family. 💔
ReplyDeletespeechless. what an amazing person
ReplyDeleteWhen she and Sabrina sang "You're Not Alone Anymore" is my favorite......I watch it lots on Youtube.soooooooo very sad...
ReplyDeleteI completely understand no live tweeting today.......several big things happened - when you have time to watch -----couple of things kinda shocked me actually.....
Yeah I saw that on twitter and I'm in shock. I wonder if she has been sick. No wonder we haven't seen her on GH! Are the characters going to say Piffy passed away, or is she going to be recast?
ReplyDeleteShe is irreplaceable. ☹
DeleteI agree Di. Do NOT recast Piffy.
DeleteMaybe they can mention that she passed her exams and had been accepted at a med school in NY or something. That way we can think of her in a happy place.
Delete"Di says, She is irreplaceable. ☹"
DeleteI agree! I don't want a recast!
"Maybe they can mention that she passed her exams and had been accepted at a med school in NY or something. That way we can think of her in a happy place."
Ooooo! I like that!!! Yes please!!! Oh but then that means Mr Hat man and her broke up.. :( OR they can have a long distance relationship. :) They can say that Port Chuckles and NYC are an hour away! :D
update from TMZ
DeleteSonya Eddy's producing partner and close friend, Tyler Ford, tells us she had a scheduled surgery on December 9 -- it wasn't an emergency. He says she was released from the hospital on the 11th, but started to feel ill again, and went back to the hospital on the 15th ... when doctors discovered she'd developed a serious infection.
Tyler tells us the infection was uncontainable, and doctors told him Monday morning she'd been placed on life support ... she died Monday night.
That's horrible and scary.
DeleteI agree with Di, Sonya is irreplaceable. Both Sonya and Epiphany will be missed on GH. I hope they give her a good send-off.
Delete"Gary says, I agree with Di, Sonya is irreplaceable."
DeleteYeah she is!! I wonder what they are going to do!
Oh geez, Mufasa, that is just terrible what happened. I'm so sorry for all her family and friends.
DeleteSo very sad to hear this. We all loved Epiphany! She looked good when last seen with Hatman and studying to be a dr. Only 55.

This is so sad. Wonder what happened. She was a wonderful part of the cast. Everyone loved her; all the fans. Such a strong and wonderful presence on the show. She will be missed. Do NOT recast. She can't be replaced.
ReplyDeleteThis is heartbreaking - she will be so missed! My heart goes out to her friends, family, and castmates. **Side note after reading other comments. I don't want them to recast. I want her to have a beautiful send off with the results of her MCAT as part of it (I don't think I missed the results??). Epiphany would have been the best doctor.
ReplyDeleteThe Nurses' Ball will not be the same without her. I hope that they give her a fitting tribute on the show.
ReplyDeleteI hope they get permission to show a clip of her from a former Ball so we can hear her lovely voice again.
DeleteWow what a loss. May she rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteVery sad. She was so talented. Always a pleasure to watch.
ReplyDeleteWhat sad news. Watching Sonya's Epiphany was always a joy. She will be missed.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't watched This Show Sucks on YouTube Sonya was one of the soap actors who was on it. Her diva character got some good lines and you could tell that she and the rest of the actors were having a blast.
I was just listening to some of the Nurse's Ball videos on you tube.
DeleteVery tragic. She was real people. Too often something that's missing. Yeah, we want fantasy and love in the afternoon. But we also want to see ourselves. Her character was no nonsense and often a truth teller. I'm hoping they find a fitting way to let the character pass and in a poignant twist, she receives her word that she passed the MCAT. Gut-wrenching that she never got to follow through with her dream, a lesson for all of us on how life is so short. Maybe they can somehow tie this to the show's 60th anniversary and have a fitting tribute to her, with her photo proudly displayed among the other veterans in GH's "Hall of Fame" wall.
ReplyDeleteTruly awful news. Sonya is irreplaceable.
ReplyDeleteJust devastated about this. She is irreplaceable and I agree with all of the other comments. Have a tribute, have her pass her MCATs, send her off GH with love and something happy. Prayers to her friends, family and castmates.
ReplyDeleteSuch devastating news. I always looked forward to her scenes! I hope the show honors her in a big way!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning America did a nice piece on her this AM.

I didn't know Sonya had been on Seinfeld. She played "Rebecca DeMornay" and ran a homeless shelter. YouTube has a clip of her confronting Elaine in the muffin shop complaining about them leaving "just the stumps" of the muffins for the homeless and another clip of George trying to sell a book that's been in the bathroom to her homeless shelter charity shop. Her "Here I come" at the end was so very Piffy. I LOLed. Check it out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this. I do recall the episode and must watch again.
