Sunday Surgery: Stroke of Luck?

It's been a week... or has it? While I was waiting for some big payoffs after last Friday, in true GH fashion it just got muddled in the mire. *sigh*

There is plenty to talk about so grab some java and let's GO GO

DREW MOVES:  Oh, poor Drew...thinking he was going to get that phone and.. it's snatched by Willow at the last minute. Her hysterical mother called from GH and she got there just in time. What happened after that with Drew we shall never know unless there's some flashback with missing footage. We didn't see Drew again all week.

PARTY IN THE PARK:  Willow is out jogging around the lake and meets a shirtless Chase by accident. While they are all sweaty, they discuss Phoebe and sit very close. Ut OH! Photos being taken in the bushes! Who can it be? Why it's Elaine! Michael hired her to get some evidence of...?? a...hug? Honey, this is 2026. Also see: with AI photos can be dismissed so easily now. How WILL soaps handle that fact? Is it real...or Chat GPT?

NINA, CARLY AND THE CHEESE:  So, Nina knows Valentin is in town but what she doesn't know is that Carly has been harboring him in her attic all this time. Carly knows that Nina doesn't know and tries to pin Val's escape on her. Round and Round but it comes down to Carly threatening to have blood tests done on both Drew and Jack ...and Nina saying she'll go to Cullum about what Val and Jack were discussing. All I have for this is their hair looked fantastic in those scenes.

ACCIDENTAL SCRAPES:  Oh my. We wove a story out of a night of chaos and here we are. Weeks later and... it's getting to be a bit farcical. (ok, more than a bit). Curtis is going crazy pants and I THINK he might need to see someone. Get some meds or something. He's now convinced Jordan that Isaiah was the perp and when ADA Turner wouldn't do anything, he declares he will get 'justice one way or another'. Meanwhile, Isaiah and Portia are having dinner and he's discussing Derek. Who's Derek you ask? Well, if you missed the day Kai went in and talked to a kid in a hospital bed then you don't know. That's the only time we saw him. See, Derek (a PCU football fan) is about James' age and needs a liver transplant. Who's the only one that can do the delicate procedure? Dr Gannon of course!! It's the eve of the operation and guess what happens. Yep, Curtis storms in The Metro, sees Isaiah's hand on Portia's belly and goes shit-wacky. There are words exchanged and Isaiah ends up getting punched and thrown over/into a table. You KNOW he's not operating anytime soon! Curtis needs to go directly to jail for that assault and if Portia is all: I don't want my baby's daddy in prison and Isaiah doesn't press charges? I'll scream.

ROCCO'S LAMENT:  You know the drill...now that Dante knows about Rocco he had to confront Lulu for not telling him. Then he has to confront "Nathan" for the same thing. Rocco's so upset that he shot a WSB agent and can't tell anyone (um, ya did bud, ya did) that he's freaking out all over the place. Dante tries to reassure him and even goes so far as to destroy evidence. Some nice Dante-Elizabeth scenes were mixed in there as well. For Rocco's part, he screamed at Moo and Doo not to go to Wyndemere to "find evidence" because of the danger. Danny and Char think he's just being a dick and want to go anyway. Oh THAT should work out well....

SINGER: Trina is going to be showcased to some big-wig record people. Hello--I still think the way to go is TikTok but what do I know? Gio's on the guitar and I guess we will talk about it for awhile and... she'll do some open mic nights at Charlie's.

SKETCHY:  In a episode right out of Three's Company, miscommunication and misunderstandings rule the day. This stretched on FOREVER by the way. Sonny had to talk to everyone and their mother about Ric's lying BETRAYING WAYS until he couldn't take it anymore and confronted him at The Gallery at gunpoint. Ethan was there for "muscle" and I laugh every time I see him. Not sure why but.. it's just not working. So, Ava gets hurried out to the car and Sonny waves his pistol in Ric's face. Ric was buying some sketches for Liz on the lowdown and didn't want Sonny to know he was 'working' with Ava. Sonny was still a bit pissed and Ric groveled to get his approval again. Gross. Sonny's just not anything but a sad paranoic old mobster.

LOOK UP:  I guess I have to mention this whole thing because it did take up time this week. Yes, it's the helicopter pad and flight path that will disrupt Tracey's airspace. *sigh* Laura convinces her to not make an injunction and promises to bring down Sidwell. Laura lives in her office by the way-- she hardly moves from there.

CHAMBER OF DOOM:  We finally get back around to Joss who's still in her room, pacing around like a cat. Cassius brings her food and she demands a puzzle or a deck of cards. I think she even stomped her foot. He obliges and they play gin rummy. Oh that wiley JOSS!! She's going to try to get Cassius on her side and make him feel like he's worth something as himself and not just as "Nathan". Joss has no softer side btw, so this whole thing just didn't work for me. Also: does Pascal notice anyone's down there?

FUN DRINKING GAME: I just loved the Lucas and Britt scene. My only wish? They'd let Brad into this circle. Why? He's got the devious streak and can run a lab. He and Lucas could be friends at this point and not even romantically involved. It's a win-win.

OTHER NOTES:

Cullum sees a photo of Jason and Danny; is he thinking Jason is protecting him?

Jordan's still upset about her face. ADA bring a new yoga mat to cheer her up

TJ mention when Molly visits Jordan. She brought her an orchid.

Sidwell and Willow have a problem because now there are two guys needing doses paralytic drugs.

Alexis seems to be warming to Ric

Brook Lyn still looks worried every time "the past" is mentioned in the same sentence with Phoebe

Curtis is going to have to pay The Metro for that table

Kristina holds baby Phoebe and talks about losing Adelle. (Irene! IRENE!)

NO MAVIS SIGHTING: Although we got Elaine, we didn't get Mavis! Also see: No Outback or Fizz. Outback really should be a therapy doggo for GH.

WUBSY SPECULATION: Those sketches are going to lead back to Delilah --just you wait. She had 12 gallery listings in her suitcase--you do the math. I'm hoping Alexis is going to call Ava about it. God knows Ava needs something to do. I also think Cullum will go after Danny in some way and then everyone will be forced to either kill Brennan or give up Rocco in some way. All anyone should do is tell Sidwell that Cullum killed Marco and--problem solved!! Not sure what's going to happen with that poor kid that needs a liver but I smell a giant custody hearing, don't you? *sigh* "MY CHILD" will be screamed from the rooftops. The Brook accident thing will also need to come out by this summer because I won't be able to tolerate it much longer.

WHAT WE NEED:  A THERAPIST! Kevin is out of town-- and WTH. Everyone could use someone to talk to. Rocco's just out there, freaking out on a limb. Could the new guy coming be one? NOPE! He's going to be A COP. Um.. ok? We also need Georgie in these teen scenes because I'm tired of Charlotte. Maybe the summer will bring more action.

So there you go. You know it's "Summer" when the boathouse comes out complete with the fake hanging geraniums. I'm at least engaged with the show but like I've said...the lack of, follow through on some things just baffles me. Also puzzling is the one-off scene with the kid needing a liver. Hey, if ever there was a side story to invest in, that might be it. Friend of James or parents work at GH.. or?? or??  So many things I'd do more detailed and so many things I'd do less of. Alas, I'm not a showrunner and ergo, here I sit...giving you all my opinions!

Hope you had a good week. It's so sunny and beautiful here! Deck furniture is coming out and the birds are singing. We saw Joe Jackson last night and I was in my 80's bliss!!

CHEERS !

All photos thx to Sloan's Magical Mystery Tour !

  1. Joe Jackson! No way!! That’s a great way to start the summer!

I think also the sketches will lead to Ethan/Delilah story. Maybe she was an artist copying pieces? If it gives Ava a reason to be involved I’m all for it. She’s sidelined far too often. Also, let it involve Trina! I’m not all about this “singer” business. I’ll be honest, she can sing but like many young women…truly not a spectacular voice or anything. Art would be a great way to give her front-burner story, especially if they are recasting Spencer finally and get him involved.

Which leads me to something I’ve been thinking about all week. Emma was complaining of headaches and it got me to thinking about soap tropes of how brain tumors can change a personality and what if sweet Emma that we’ve known forever became not so sweet. I don’t like that idea, but it actually made me realize that we have no teens on scene who are troublemakers. Not since Esme left, has there been anyone (with the exception of Drew, but it’s different with him because he had all the power and wasn’t fighting for a place at the table) to cause trouble. I don’t think Willow qualifies, she doesn’t really cause trouble for people except for Drew at this point and I guess Michael who she’s there just too have it be all about “the kids.“ But I’m talking about the soap, staple of the troublesome teenager/young adult who causes havoc. While we tend to always hate that person, if written well, they can be future rooting potential. I think General Hospital should get on that!
