Ok, THAT WAS A SOAPY WEEK!! Geesh... When GH does it, it does it good. Sure we can talk a bit about the Nurses Ball and lack of some audience members (big topic on Blue Sky) BUT!! WHOO WEE!
I had a blast...and I've hope you've watched at least from Wed-Friday. Also, take a look at the blog before this one (Saturday) because I run down some of the looks of the night.

GIO QUARTERMAINE-CORINTHOS: Let's take a look at the story of Gio since it took forever to come to this. Was it worth the wait? You tell me. I guess I am glad it took long enough that Gio's acting skyrocketed off in the last few months. The kid did great. I saw allllllll the emotions on his face but the best one was when he was with Emma and got that evil look that was saying: Let's fking GO. OOOHH!! Yep. Loved it.
THE LULU FACTOR: We can't go into this without mentioning her, can we? Oh "waking up from a coma" strident ol' Lulu. What I can say is yes, she bugs the hell out of me BUT is she soapy? Damn right she's soapy. She's on everyone's hate list at the moment but without her and her big mouth we wouldn't have gotten that giant of a payoff now would we? When she confronted Lois, it was perfection. Rena Sofer was just wonderful in those scenes. Gio, waiting outside the door and hearing his world shift in an instant. Squee!! I do live for those kind of moments on daytime TV.
THE LAND OF CONFUSION: I almost used this as my title because everyone had a reaction to everything and it came at us quick. Sonny, Ned and Olivia finding out they had a grandson in common was just a chef's kiss. Carly confronting Lulu about her mouthy revelation when she's usually the one right in the middle of it all. Dante, Cody, Emma, Joss and Trina. All great stuff. My ONE regret? Tracey was at the PCPD on some stupid Ketamine charge and we missed seeing her face. Dang it. (the one miss in an otherwise great reveal, imo)
ACTOR OF THE WEEK: I don't usually do this because all of the actors are pretty great on GH but this week I'm going to single out Dom Z for his performance. WOW. The shock, the hurt, the confusion just played across that man's face like lightning. He's been getting more time to shine with Lulu waking up and I hope it keeps going. I can't WAIT to see the scenes with Dante and Brook Lyn.
THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST EYEBALLS: When Wiley yelled "Daddy" and Drillow realized MICHAEL was there-- Dang a Lang!! Ding Dong!! Zwoop!! All those sounds. I mean, it was magic. MAGIC I TELL YOU! Such perfection. Even Carly and Sonny were like: HUH? I so wish they would have really kept it under wraps; not shown us even the back of the head on the plane. I also wish the recast wasn't announced the day before because that would have been such a real shocker.
NUMICHAEL: I don't know about the actor (Rory Gibson) but I really liked 'his look'. I mean, a little Billy Warlock, some Alan Q and...there you go. I did see a clip from next week with him and Wiley and so far, he's approved.
I find it weird that Jonathon Jackson and Wally Kurth didn't sing. Or did I miss something? Didn't LiLu/ Olivia sing with Wally one year and did a great job?

ReplyDeleteThe kid who plays Gio has definitely improved his acting chops over time. (Remember last year and his reaction to Kristina plunging into the pool? That was inadvertently hilarious.) I do like him with Emma so far and I hope he becomes a brat. The Qs need a brat.
For all the hype ABC did about Jonathan Jackson's return, it has been a dud so far. Does the guy not live in LA or something? He's never around.
I want to see NuMichael really stick it to Drew and Willow. I always thought Michael should become a little darker, given all that's happened to the character over the years, and now is the perfect time to do it. Also, I like Rory Gibson's general look and vibe. "GH" has done some good casting lately.
My lingering questions: Did Natalia leave town? When will the show deal with Monica's death?

ReplyDeleteI'm very happy that the Gio reveal is over because it had to be done. Lulu still loves Dante and she thought that he should know. I don't get the anger at Lulu. And hasn't Brook Lynn been whining about wanted to meet her child?
The best was Drew and Willow getting the shock of their lives with Michael returning. HAHAHA!!!!
General comments to continue Kevin's lingering questions... natalia stuck around gor months w no onscreen connections now her son and ex are there and she's gone. Sonny's heart problems are a big ole nothing burger? Random DA who has it out for sonny and anna- why couldn't she be taggerts sister gia, or jagger and stones sister gina? People with history amd connections why make a new character instead? Will we ever know who killed Austin? Will anyone ever be investigated or arrested for killing jagger or Cyrus?

Blackmailing Portia. Paying off the nurse in Germany to lie to willow. Framing tracy w ketamine. Enough people know most of these things...
Off my tangent, back to the NB. Agree it was weird that talents like JJ and WK aren't showcased. Felix is MIA. I don't think chase actor is a good singer all I hear is autotune...kids were cute but Georgie is Rocco, Danny, Aiden and Charlotte's age, why was she w the little ones while her peers weren't present?
Loved the 2 bombshells/cliffhangers and looking forward to some drama this week!
I couldn't figure out why this random DA was getting all these scenes all of a sudden. Then I read an article. Turns out the actress is married to the guy playing Jens Sidwell.

ReplyDeleteI didn't think the actor playing Gio had the goods, I am so glad I was wrong. He has grown on me 100%. It helps that I really like this Emma. She's tough yet vulnerable. Typical Scorpio! Speaking of, we thought Robert & Hollie were going to be back for May sweeps. Maybe for the birth of baby Q?
ReplyDeleteOne thing I want to mention, let's not forget that Michael also slept with Sasha. St Jason knows but Snarly does not. Also, Nina will be the villain once again but she slept with Drew before he got things started with Willow. She didn't know but was wrong not to tell her once she did. It makes Drew more of the a sleaze ball in my opinion. Drew slept with her mother in law, her mother, than her. Eww.
Hats off to GH this week and the actors we love to watch. Lucas is now one of my Favorites and Dom was just magic. I expect we will get more of that this week. Amanda Sutton will be right there with him, we know she has the goods. I know this blog is torn on the Lulu factor. I get why she investigated it, its why she had to push the way she did that pissed me off. I will say she looked stunning as all the ladies did. I want Lulu to have a side story (come on show her with her BFF Maxie not Carly). Not having Maxie there was a big miss.
Nancy also killed it this week. Felt good to hear her yell at Kristina. Excited for Tuesday!

Giovanni Mazza is a talented young man. I read that he was on the Paul Harvey show when he was 11. Quite a virtuoso. We have all seen his acting ability go from meh to outstanding.
Rory Gibson does really resemble Billy Warlock.
I guess everyone can't be there on taping days. But it is weird. Spinnelli did say Maxie was sick.
Finally Alexis spilled but they just left it in the air. GH style.

What is the population of Port Charles and how much money is raised that they can only afford about 30 seats in the audience for people unless the seats were astronomically high and cost. I really wish this would be more realistic and I realize it’s only a soap it simply burns me that they can’t Use the Disney concert hall witches who owns ABC and do one night of actual performances and charge a couple hundred dollars a seat and actually raise the money to go To helping people who Are HIV positive. It’s just my opinion and you guys can attack me on it that this is become a farce and a slap in the face to anyone who is HIV positive. I’ve said for the past several years, this is due for a reinvention.
ReplyDeleteNo slap here. Used to be that the NB was just that. This time it was used as a vehicle to get the big story outed. The mission definitely took a back seat. At this point I have NO faith or respect for ABC/Disney. Not because of this but something else which I won't mention on this platform.
DeleteThe problem with the Nurse's Ball is there...is little to no connection to the hospital any more. The show is General Hospital. How hard would it be to actually have featured characters that are doctors and nurses. And then the few characters they have that do work in the hospital...are not even part of the show...Terry...Liz...Lucas. The actor who plays Gio has come a long way. Remember even Nicholas Chavez was pretty green when he first aired, but quickly improved. The problem with the Gio reveal was that where was he afterward? Again, I don't watch full episodes any longer...but it appears after the reveal was replayed...he didn't appear on the rest of the show. The Michael recast...It's too bad this was spoiled before the show. That would have been a huge surprise. With his dark looks, I hear references to Billy Warlock. To me, the best AJ was the original adult AJ in the early 90s played by Gerald Hopkins and I think Rory Gibson also bears resemblance to him.

The area where they had pictures taken did have sponsor names on the wall. ELQ was one I remember.
DeleteI meant a real sponsor. Yoplait, Aveeno and others were sponsors in the past when they really did try to raise money for the cause.
