Sunday Surgery: Afternoon Delight

 

If you've been reading the blog all week or seeing me live Sky, you know I had a GOOD GH WEEK!! From Tuesday on, I just loved the show. Something different for you to read this week, right??

Their faces? Priceless. Imagine being the new guy and seeing a congressman just lose it in public.

SONNY DOWN:  Sonny FINALLY went to LA to have the operation. Carly went with him. I didn't hate the whole thing but Brick pulling out his mighty gun and shooting the nurse was just... weird. We knew Sonny wasn't going to die and I guess it was a bit exciting but it was BRICK so... meh. Then Brennan was there, then Jason was there and even Mike showed up in Sonny's death-dream. Sonny wants out of the mob. Um, I'll believe it when I see it. 

THE (BRIEF) FALL OF DREW CAIN:  Oh, it was GLORIOUS. You know I was a skeptic of the whole  "Slipping a Mickey", using the tired prostitute thing and Ketamine. BUT!! LORDY! I turned out just glorious. First of all Portia and Nina working together was so refreshing because Carly wasn't in the mix. Little unexpected. Portia's totally into shady stuff now and I love it. Brad was on point with his "SUUUCKS" line too. Then.. it happened. DREW DRANK THE DRINK and all hell broke loose. So soapy. I mean when he picked up Jocinda and threw her on the bar for body shots, I was howling. Good on CM for giving that 100%. Good for the cast for just being like: WTF when they were watching. It had to be a blast to film. Anyway... we'll get to the fall out later. I just want to revel in the wonder of a great few scenes. 

AFTERMATH OF THE (BRIEF) FALL OF DREW CAIN: Well, nothing lasts forever!! Willow walks in, sees the girl and sees her man naked in bed. She runs to mama in tears. Nina starts to feel guilty. Damn, girl.. don't do it!! Then Drew gets tested, it's found he has Ketamine in his system and Willow believes him. Oh --WE ALMOST HAD IT ALL!! Carly came over to Nina's and was all giddy at the plan until she found out they used Ketamine and it could be found in the blood way after the event. (How'd she know that?! LOL). I actually enjoyed her scenes with Nina. Yep. I bet you've fainted by now. 

BROOK'S BABY DRAMA: Oh I know, I know, we've had it with this. BUT!! The scenes where she tells Grandma Tracey were priceless. If you didn't see Friday's show, get on it. Jane Elliot was just pitch perfect in her scenes. The voice catches...the tearing up. Oh, it was just so good. Now, Tracey knows and is going to go IN on Lois next week! 

LULU THE CUB REPORTER:  One thing that we didn't need was endless scenes of Lulu and her "career" as a journalist. The Laura backstory was a good one and I liked Genie in those scenes. The endless "Leave Brook Alone" coupled with Lulu's insistence she's "a journalist" were over-kill. She and Dante did say they love each  other so I guess we're going there. 

KRISTINA COMMITMENT: Molly finds the papers that Alexis had drawn up to throw Krissy into Shadybrook to get her off the hook for tampering with the car brakes. Kristina confronts Alexis and I really REALLY wanted the entire thing to come out that Alexis knew what she'd done but NOPE!! Alexis didn't say anything and Kristina ran to the baby grave and told her everything. Did Molly overhear it? NOPE! They Davis girls are now bonded and Molly's in for a hella fall soon. 

BEACH PARTY BINGO: When I hear "party" on GH and when it involves young people, I cringe. HEY! I was happily surprised when they really put decent effort into this one! Tons of extras--big "lake beach' set and kegs and red cups! This was partly about Emma's shorts and getting the hard drive but it was also about Danny and Rocco whooping it up. I don't know why but I really enjoyed everything and I'm not apologizing for it! Vaughn didn't even bug me!! 

KAI AND THE OPERATION: Ok, there HAD to be a clunker in here and it's in the form of Kai. Sad horn. It's just SO boring. Did we even meet the surgeon? I missed part of Thursday's show so maybe he was introduced then. I did see the "documentarian" who could be Spinelli's brother. Getting Portia on tape saying she approved of all of this might come back to haunt the hospital later. Poor Trina. UGH..was she at the fun bonfire party? NO..she was stuck sitting on the couch waiting for him to come out of surgery. 

SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO NURSE AMY: OMG she had the best lines. "Are they testing him for STIs"?? and confronting Willow about tall the gossip. Loved it. 

THINGS TO KNOW: 

Rocco drank a LOT of "Grog" (Jungle Juice) and wandered off

Drew found Mac at GH and wants to press charges for whoever drugged him

Lucy's yapping along about the Nurses' Ball 

Marco and Lucas went on a date 

Anna found out that Emma and the Professor both came from the same CA College to Port Charles 

Tracey made a deal with Drew and the Esplanade and now Drew thinks she might have Ketamine'd him 

Laura was happy Drew was caught doing shots out of a hooker's belly button (so was Curtis)

I really felt like the writing shifted back into "my" gear this week. Things flowed and were lighter and more engaging. I really wanted to watch the next day. The Emma/Joss/Professor story got better with the addition of the Anna suspicion. Just some really good soapy scenes to sink my teeth into!! Sure, we all know it's not going to last but I'm going to be happy while it does. Here's hoping you had a fun watch as well!!
