So, damn it--I am NOT GOING TO BE HERE FOR GH tomorrow! I'm so angry. I can't change my appointment but so it goes. I WILL watch on Hulu and I'll be around Wednesday to see and blog that show. Stupid ABC had to run a repeat today. No other network did that to their soaps!!

ReplyDeleteI have read that tapings like The Nurse's Ball and weddings and huge cast events are very long hours (16-20 hours to tape each day). And, for most cast members it is mostly just waiting around with very little or no dialogue. So, a lot of the "veteran" cast members opt out of these episodes (as long as their stories aren 't being directly tied to what is going on) so they can have a break.
ReplyDeleteI THINK that was more true long ago-- now if you notice they are split up. We didn't see Molly or Cody at all on a day, then they popped up. Sidwell was there, then he wasn't. I do think they can rotate them better. BUT I hear you. I'm sure it's to do with scheduling.

I'm not ashamed. I have watched Friday's episode 3 times. Each time I watched different characters and Drew even has a SMIRK on his face when has his meltdown.
ReplyDelete----yes everything I have read is that the actors hate the NB. I heard Maura say once that they do the acts 3 times: one time just on the performer and one time panning through the audience close-up and the 3rd time filming from beyond the acts.
I met her in 2018 after she sang You Don't Own Me - to Griffin and Keke and she talked about how nervous she was the first time but by the 3rd time she was over it.

DeleteI stand corrected, thank you. But I still hold to that's the exception and not the rule and that Laura has been secondary to any appearance in the Nurse's Ball. She should be front and center as a lead actress and one of, if not the remaining longest standing character still on the show.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I got lost in a whole bunch of old One Life To Live episodes ca 1980. Yes the production values compared to today were crappy...but the caliber of the actors, Judith Light, Al Freeman, Ellen Holly, Lillian Heyman, Gerald Anthony, Erika Slezak and on and on. Jacquie Courtney and Robert Woods in Paris. The show's were like little plays. The show then hadn't pivoted to the youth quake as General Hospital had done. It was veteran actors. And the variety of characters. Not everyone was out of "Models Inc." or a gazillionaire. Some of them...gasp...even lived in a boarding house! Just a sad reminder of what we've lost as a genre.
