Sunday Surgery: Singe of the Father

 

I do feel badly for GH because it seems like this has happened before. Mass shooting and they have an explosion or shoot out. Fires in LA ..and Michael..well, you know. Hard week to watch and there are so many fans that will be needing help in the near and far future. 

With that said, let's dive in, shall we? 

QUEEN 

It was a 4 day week for the show and some of the editing seemed off on Friday which could be due to the shuffling of things. Not sure. With GH you never know. 

BOOM:  The fireplace seemingly exploded in the PH just when Sonny and Jason were in the hallway. You knew it was going to happen then because, when have those two ever 'talked in the hallway'??! I have to hand it to the stunt people and technos because that fire and Michael in the thick of it all was done very well. Note that Jason made sure Sonny was safe first and then went to put Michael out with the carpet. After that, everyone gathered at the hospital for the soapy 101 waiting to find out how the patient is. In the meantime...

PILLOW DRILLOW:  These two idiots are in DC, just having zex after finding out Michael served Wills with divorce papers. In a cringe worthy scene, someone decided to have a sex montage of them smooshed in with Michael on fire. :shudder: --complete with creepy "love' music. EESH. Hard to watch. REALLY hard to watch. 

BLAME GAME:  Oh, okay, neither one of these characters are my fave by ANY stretch but damn, I did love Joss just laying into Willow. Then, Carly laid into Drew (as did Curtis) while he danced around the truth like the scum he is!  Drew then blamed Carly for choosing to raise Michael around Sonny, Sonny blamed his enemies and Anna blamed old WSB technology. 

CUSTODY CASE: It's a tale as old as GH. I think the whole Michael/AJ custody stuff was some of the first things I remember. Then the whole Michael mess that lasted YEARS. There has to have been at least a dozen custody cases over the years. We are still knee deep in the Avery one (although you wouldn't know it) and now starting up with Wiley/Amelia.  Between Diane and Marty just making stuff up about who gets what at the point and Michael being in bed with burns, it's going to require some suspension of belief for sure. I DID love Diane, Chase and Social Worker lady showing up at Nina's even though it was pretty laughable. Why? SOAPY!! SO soapy. Now there might be blackmail involved with medical treatment and yada yada. Seems like those kids should just be at the Qs because let's face it, it's where they spend the majority of their time anyway. Plus, if someone IS after Sonny and hence his extended fam, I would think having them around Carly would be crazy too. 

                                

FRIDAY'S TRUTHS: I watched Friday's show on Hulu which is always a treat because not having 90 William Mattar commercials on is a gift. What I liked about the dialog was so many truths were given that we've said on socials. Drew's speech to Carly about Michael in harm's way (again)--Joss to Willow about her hero complex -- Sonny on the roof didn't even bother me. Yes, Carly and Sonny made more excuses for themselves but we expected that. Also see: Steve Burton's performance. Yet again, he's just doing good work. 

THE CLIFF HANGER: Cyrus is in Michael's room and puts the digitalis in his IV. Will he live? How do they even WORK on a burn patient in that condition?  Side note that's bugging me: If he sees himself as an "Angel of Death" Why would he have killed Sam who came through the operation and was doing well and not Lulu who was still in a coma?  Just a point to ponder. 

OTHER STUFF:  This mainly consisted of babytalk between Chase and Sasha and Lois and Brook Lyn. It finally came out that yes, she did get pregnant at camp, had a baby and put it up for adoption. Lois was so supportive and told her it wasn't her fault now that she couldn't get pregnant. Now we wait for the Gio reveal. I wonder how THAT is going to play out. I'm not even excited for it. AND I don't think Lois knows Dante is the father! DUN DUN DUN 

Joss finds Dex's gun. Now, I know that boy didn't see his family but...um.. shouldn't SOMEONE be called? It's not even mentioned. I really thought she was going to stumble upon some mystery gem that would lead to an intriguing story (he's really a Russian Spy! His family is connected to... ?? ) BUT! It was a gun. A gun WITH BULLETS! So, I can imagine Joss going off half-cocked and shooting someone. Wonder if that's how Cyrus will exit.  Also: Felicia remembers the bell wasn't ringing during the knifing of Dex. Brennan passes along information to Joss about it as well. 

GOOD STUFF:  No Lulu this week.  Yes, already sick of her. I like Jack Brennan quite a bit and need him to do more but be behind the desk. Ava (as usual) and Sidwell. Why? Intriguing fun actor and Lucy was all in. Who knows why he thinks he can just waltz around Port Charles when he's a wanted man but you know, SOAPY.  I also really really enjoyed the Maxie/Felicia talk and having Sasha in that scene briefly. They are family now! yeah!! 

Ric Hearst is in the opening credits! I hope that means he's sticking around!! 

That's a wrap! Next week's spoilers look banal. Nothing really going on that I could see. More yelling about the kids, kicking Drew and Willow around and probably some Emma scenes. Again, GH introduces characters so willy-nilly it's shameful. They need to focus way more on the 20something college kids and I'm going to say it--even Gio needs to have more to do for us to care. Can't he be a secret sports gambler? Cripto-Bro? ANYTHING!!? Jake should be back in GH as well. Art Gallery potential. 

Ok! I'll shut up. I'm trying to put together a list of reputable  charities if you'd like to help with the wildfire situation. SO HARD to know who to give to and if it will get where it's going. Nancy Lee Grahn and Michelle Stafford have been posting some things about the shelters in the area on IG. I know World Central Kitchen is on the ground serving meals to people, firefighters and first responders.
