Sunday Surgery: Iconic Soapy Court

 

The show is good enough now that I actually take notes for Sunday Surgery when I watch during the week. Good week and a fairly weak Friday which seems to be happening lately. I think we witnessed a scene that will go down in soapy history as one of those "do you remember when..." ?? 

As usual, I do have a few things to say about everything so let's give it a go! 

 

                             

LUCKY'S GOODBYE TOUR: I'm starting with the not so great first. The fact that JJ came back for less than a year and had the schedule of a cyber-bro that works remotely still pisses me off. The writers couldn't write for that mess. We even had a stand-in during crucial scenes when he first sees Aidan. Anyway, he says goodbye to Liz, Lulu, gives Isaiah Luke's old cabin and then takes Aidan on a long trip to see the world. Two old men visit Amsterdam. Bye. I'm wondering if Kristina knows and wishes she would have hired Cody as a bartender. 

HAIRBRAINED IDEA:  Leave to it Kristina to come up with a dumb plan to break up Ric and Ava that involves paying someone to have sex with one of them. Ava seems flattered by Cody's 'art curiosity" and I guess we'll see where it goes. Maura does great while paired with any actor that can breathe so... ? Ric and Elizabeth on the other hand is going to be more of a hard-sell for me. They even had the two hold hands at one point. Come on now, can we give Liz some breathing room from her ex's for awhile? 

KETAMINE DREAM: Yep, we are still going on with this. Curtis is hiring Felicia to find Jocinda. Isaiah is wondering what is up with Portia and now Scooby Kai is on the case. Yep, he overheard people talk and took it to Trina. Little manufactured drama. Wasn't impressed. 

THE LaRUE-RUE:  So on a weird side-road we see Natalia get pulled over for DWI. She's arrested and booked. Then ADA Turner tells her she can get off the charges by outing the Great Sonny Corinthos. Haven't we been here before? Didn't we have an entire freeking Dex story about this? *sigh* So, then Nat has a chat with Sonny, tells him what's up and hopes she can help him out. It was sort of a desperate attempt to maybe get back together?? Hard to tell. All in all, I hope this is over soon and she's sent packing. There are rumors out there that LaRue is a short timer so we shall see. I like Eva but this character was just not it. 

MARTIN'S BACK: Yes, I'm happy. I Love MEK and really like how he plays Marty. All of his ex wives got his money so now he's chasing those ambulances at GH. He's set his sights to "destroy" Tracey (ha ha) and Drew's asking for his help. What's a poor lawyer to do? Move in with his sister, that's what!! 

SLIME BALL MOVE: Before we delve into the actual verdict, we have to review Drew's evil intent to cause emotional distress to Wiley. He knows the kid is sitting there alone at GH. He talks to Ric about Michael "not wanting Wiley or Amelia because of the new baby". Wiley hears it. Drew walks away. That kid playing Wiley had the PERFECT look on his face. I hurt for him (and he usually drives me nuts!). Ric also saw him but after Drew had left. Drew then tried to talk himself into thinking it was a good move while moaning about how had it was to actually do. Ugh. Of course. Willow didn't believe Drew could do that to her kids and so she turned a deaf ear to Michael. What an idiot. 

NOW FOR THE 'BIG SHOW' -- COURT CIRCUS: 

This is going to have to be broken into parts because it was long, epic and deserves some time.  Leading up to the end, we had more testimony from various parties. Willow thought she did good and Drew told her she was fantastic on the stand. People did think she'd win, including Diane who really didn't have much hope left.  Michael was even readying the jet to get outta Dodge. THEN: IT HAPPENED. WATCH HERE:  Willow Freaks Out 

Her freak-out was pretty impressive. The shaking, the crying --the whole she-bang. I am going to say this and don't hate me but I would have preferred a more nuanced performance but that's just my opinion. The courtroom reactions were spot-on and Nina even yelled a bit. My favorite part wasn't when she was yelling or begging but when Willow sat silently in the chair while Ric an Nina tried to talk to her. Perfect reflection of deep shock. That's why I used it as the main photo. 

Willow is shipped off to the hospital and can't even walk on her own. Michael goes to Carly's to see his kids and explain to Wiley that mommy won't be around for awhile. I do need to mention here that before this all happened, Carly was having a meltdown over Michael maybe leaving the country. Jason? Oh, get got the plane ready to go!! You know Jason: Michael First, Carly Second. Everyone else... ??

Nina lays into Drew and basically tells him this is all his fault. He's still delusional enough to think they can move to DC at some point. By the way, the man never works. Like EVER. I think they are trolling us a bit right now for sure. Drew asks Marty for help and although he wants the money, Marty is even like: Dude, you're *ucked. 

This begs the question about Willow's mental state going forward. MANY of us on both Twitter and BlueSky are hoping she has some kind of break and channels Nelle at this point. I'd like her to have a hysterical pregnancy. Since Sasha has a newborn it can write itself!! Maybe they'll send her to be deprogrammed. BUT--I can't discount the feeling that Drew might kidnap her in some fashion. Could be good either way. 

WEEK IN A WUBSHELL: 

Ava gets her sunglasses back from Cody who's been hired by Krissy to seduce her away from Ric

Kai and Trina talk Ketamine and her mother's role in the whole thing

People are desperately seeking Justine

ADA Turner has a bee in her bonnet for Sonny and she'll use Natalia to get there

Laura asks for advice on the Liz accident; could she be entitled to compensation? 

Lucky says goodbye in the same clothes he came with 9 months back 

Verdict: Dissolving of Marriage, materials distributed and custody. Michael is sole custodian. 

Nina rips into Drew, Drew doesn't care

A bunch of Brook Lyn stuff again this time with Chase then Tracey. I'm tired. 

Gio and Rocco want to remain friends but will leave the 'brother' thing until later

Chase and Dante are at odds at work. 

NEWS: Erika Slezak is coming to Port Charles for a short stint. I still think she'll play Vicki especially since Lulu mentioned her not too long ago. Maybe she's friends with Tracey. Squee!! 

NOTE: I put this pic up because LOOK at the wardrobe in this scene. LOL... Maxie looking adorable but a little dressy, Lulu looking casual but summery and Brook? Um.. WHAT ARE YOU WEARING!!?? I mean, I get you want to cover up but does it have to be black or red or some old lady pattern every day? EESH. 

That's all I have! Sorry so long. I didn't touch on some things that happened but there was just too much. You really should watch the court scenes. The new Michael (Rory Gibson) is fantastic and really has just rejuvenated the character. I actually might like the flirty Cody/Ava stry because I really want some good stuff for Maura. A little zex on the side might do the trick! Sneak Peeks have Anna putting Dante and Chase in a cell to "work things out".  I do have to say with the major revelations coming to a head in the past few weeks, ratings have shot up. The downside of all of this is that the next set of things will take time to build back up. Here's hoping things keep rolling along!!
